Hi everyone i have been on a gluten free diet for 2 weeks and havent noticed an improvement. Im tired of eating rice but am trying to be patient. In the meantime I have been going to the ER once a week due to dehydration. my heart rate is 150-170 and they give me fluids and send me home. I do drink 2 liters of gatarade every morning and some water but still end up in the hospital. I cant take immodium because I am allergic. I do drink soy milk and am planning on stopping it today. Can someone please help me on what I should take for the diahhrea? I was thinking metamucil but the dr says it will make it worse. I am desperate please help I want my life back.

I am tired of the pain and weakness. I go out about 4 times early in the morning. Please help.

It does take some time to heal. What are you eating other than rice? You should be trying to stick with whole unprocessed foods in the beginning. Dropping the soy milk is a good idea for right now as some of us do react to that also. Try a rice milk, almond milk or hemp milk. Do NOT go with Rice Dream, Pacific makes some safe milks and if you have a Wegmans nearby their rice milk is also safe.

If you like sweet potatoes or yams those may help with the D. Cream of Buckwheat is soothing, if you can find the Pocono Brand that has no chance of cross contamination.

Are you taking any supplements or script or OTC meds? If you are please call the companies that make them and make sure they are gluten free. Some supplements will say gluten free but still have wheat and barley grass, you don't want those.

Do be sure to avoid dairy for now also if you are not already.

Have you had any stool samples done to rule out a food or bacterial infection? If not do call your doctor and insist on them. I had salmonella for over 3 weeks with the doctor just telling me that my IBS (this was prediagnosis for celiac) was just acting up when it really was salmonella. That should be your first step in trying to stop this. If your D is severe enough that you are having to go to the ER for rehydration they need to rule food or bacterial poisoning out.

I don't know of any supplements that will help with D that severe. Some people find probiotics to be helpful but I haven't used them so can't advise on a brand.

Have you been diagnosed or had any celiac screening done? If you have and this is a long standing problem then do keep up with the diet. I would drop the Gatorade and go with straight water for now. Rinse your plain rice in a new strainer before cooking it, if you have been using a strainer that had been used for pasta then the residue in the holes may be CCing you.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
