Is it possible for a celiac to have a reaction to gluten free bread, that is made is a strictly gluten free bakery?

It's highly unlikely but anything is possible. Maybe you reacted to something else in the bread, soy or dairy or something. What kind was it? It could have been something that you put on the bread. What did you eat on the bread?

Yes, it is possible. But most gluten free bakeries are very careful and if they are totally gluten free then they have no need to have gluten filled products in their bakery. If they do serve other gluten products then there would be a possibility of cross-contamination occurring. My recommendation would be to talk to the bakery. If they consider service an important element of their business then they would welcome your input. :)

I put gluten free /vegan free lactose free becel margarine.. the bakery that I go to is strictly gluten free. the owner has celiac as well.

it doesn't sound possible than as the owner would not have gluten products. did you bring it home to eat? maybe something in your home? if you have gluten eaters there it is possible.

It sounds more likely to be a reaction to an ingredient in the bread or the spread. If you know the ingredients in these, it might help to list them. Many on this board experience similar reactions from other things as they do from gluten.

      They may want to also eliminate other possible causes for your symptoms/issues and are doing additional tests.  Here is info about blood tests for celiac disease--if positive an endoscopy where biopsies of your intestinal villi are taken to confirm is the typical follow up.

      In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease--and you are above that level. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! May I ask why you've had so many past tTg-IgA tests done, and many of them seem to have been done 3 times during short time intervals?

      This may sound ridiculous but is this supposed to say Celiacs? I looked up Coeliacs because you never know, there’s a lot of diseases related to a disease that they come up with similar names for. It’s probably meant to say Celiacs but I just wanted to confirm.

      I was told it was to see how much damage has been caused. But just told CT with contrast not any other name for it.
