Did Anyone See This On The Today Show?

Did anyone see this? My mother (a self-diagnosed gluten-intolerant) is coming to visit me for a while, so we're going try it together and see if it makes a difference. Just thought I'd share! :)

Glowing Green Smoothie

Makes 2 servings, 16 ounces each

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups water

1 head organic Romaine lettuce, chopped

3-4 stalks organic celery

1/2 head organic spinach

1 organic apple, cored and chopped

1 organic pear, cored and chopped

1/3 bunch organic cilantro (stems OK)

1/3 bunch organic parsley (stems OK)

1 organic banana

Juice of 1/2 fresh organic lemon

Directions

Add water, chopped head of romaine lettuce to the blender. Starting the blender on a low speed, mix until smooth. Gradually moving to higher speeds, add the celery, apple, pear, cilantro and parsley. Add the banana and lemon juice last.

Nutrients: 87 calories, 11 grams of natural fruit sugar in a 16-ounce glass.

It takes about 10 minutes to make and you can prepare in advance. It will last up to 2 days in the fridge. You can also make it once a week and freeze in portion-size glass containers. Thaw them out the night before.

Why should I drink this: It's a daily detox. Sixteen ounces is 100 percent of the USDA-recommended total daily amount of veggies for women. It is 20 ounces for men. Since the vegetables and fruits are chopped and blended, you body doesn't have to do the breaking down to get the nutrients. The fiber in it also helps you to feel full so you don't overeat.

 Sounds yucky. Be sure to let us know how it tastes. Maybe there's enough fruit to hide the veggies, or maybe 'cause it's morning I'm thinking in the wrong terms. :P

Actually in the video they said that it's really delicious and that all you can taste is the fruit. But there's only one way to find out!

The calorie count is off. An apple, pear, banana, lemon are going to be about 400 calories divided by 2 = 200, the vegetables are maybe another 100 total div by 2 = 50, so about 250 calories a serving.

Interesting, when I suffered for a few months with ectopics I noticed that carbohydrates would cause indigestion and bloating in my stomach, then that would lead to my heart skipping beats, and I could feel it in my throat, it was very unsettling.  My last serious bout of this was after eating a Muller Rice Pudding for breakfast.   I happened to be wearing a 48 hour halter at the time and cardiology picked it up, but they weren't worried about what they saw. There was some British doctor who'd made some videos on the Vagus nerve that I remember watching at the time which made sense of what I was experiencing, there did seem to be some sort of connection.

I asked my cardiologist about stopping vitamins.  He said his tests account for all detectable vitamins from sources other than food.  I only need to stop them for a couple of days.  He has me keep records of meds and vitamins I've ingested over the past 10 days and prior and he does his calculations.

Reply to treats I try and eat to bring up the glucose. Sometime I get up 3 times a night and eat something. I don't think food is the issue. A lot of the food they say should help doesn't.  Many mornings my level is 59 and I feel sick, sometimes for hours. It has been recommended I go to an Endocrinologist.
