Lara bars are $1.99 - $2.19 each regualr price in my area. They do sometimes go on sale for 10 for $10 and that's when I buy them. I usually get 20 at one time when they are a dollar each and I only eat maybe one a week at most so they last me for a while. I agree about them being too expensive though. I don't have any right now. I found Enjoy Life bars on sale for $3 per box of 5 and bought a bunch of those. My main use for these bars are for shelf stable emergency food when I'm on the go or traveling and can't find anything else safe.

Cookies certainly are preferable to Lara Bars or Enjoy life bars if I'm at home or have access to a clean kitchen. :D

Wow! That's expensive for a Lara Bar. I haven't had an Enjoy Life bar for quite awhile, they're pricier here.

There are some cool recipes on the web for homemade Lara bars. I haven't tried making them yet, lost the link (just checked), but the recipe I saw was to chop dates & dried cherries in a mini food processer, then chop almonds or other safe nuts, and mix in 1 Tbsp. Cocoa. Mix that up and press into bars (using a cake pan and parchment paper), then slice them up and wrap in parchment paper or stick them in baggies and refrigerate. I'm going to try this out pretty soon. I don't think there's anything in the recipe that needs to be refrigerated, but that's what the recipe called for.

I was ok paying $1.00 or $1.05 per bar, but $1.59 to $2.19 each is really crazy, especially if you just whirl them up, and they don't call for cooking. Dates are cheap! (So if we figure it out we can have a cheap date nut emergency bar on date night!) :D

      Yes, some people do get withdrawal from gluten but gluten withdrawal doesn't usually cause gut pain. Maybe more like general body aches and discomfort. We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic.       Do you or anyone know alot about ibuprofen I wasn't sure if I was eating too much apple sauce. Something is making my pain so much worse I'm referring to the intense pins and needles in my feet and lower legs. Jaw actually has tardive dystonia and muscle spasms throughout my back Almost like an opposite effect that a pain reliever...

      We were flabergasted that the owner would not acknowledge a $50 e-gift card I purchased for my celiac wife. My wife tried to open it in the store and was informed there had been a system change and they could not find the record. No worries, she was told, just talk to management. Six months later, and numerous absurd back and forths, and the owner literally informs me there have been "bad actors", so she can't make good on this lost gift card. In other words, she accused me of lying and committing fraud... over $50! Please be careful with your orders and purchases here.

We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic. This can damage the stomach lining if you eat it too often. Especially if your stomach lining is already compromised. Ibuprofen inhibits the body's ability to rebuild the stomach's protective mucosal lining. That's why it can cause peptic ulcers. As strange as it may sound, low level irritation/inflammation stimulates the body to rebuild the stomach lining. There are two steps in this rebuilding process known as COX 1 and COX 2. Ibuprofen represses both COX 1 and COX 2. Celecoxcib, a prescription anti inflammatory, inhibits only COX 2, making it less likely to cause damage to the gut lining.

I'm fairly new to this. Whatever is going on seems to be worsening  Do people get a withdrawal effect from gluten?  It's extremely painful 😖  I'll post that question or research on the site  Thank you everyone for responding
