I need a new one! Someone suggested Dr. Peter Purcell to me. But if any of you have one you like, please let me know. I really need a good doctor who understands celiac and who will follow through with me post-DX. I am tired of being my own doctor after 3 1/2 years and even though I like my PC doc, I'm still doing all the work here :)

Thanks, guys!

hi, I live in Gansevoort and see a Dr. William Gusten. He has a couple of locations-One is Saratoga, one in Burnt Hills(where I go) and I beleive one in Schenectady. I don't know if they would work for you but I see him at Burnt Hills only because that is where I initially went for endoscopy. You can google him at Saratoga -Schenectady Gastro Assoc. He is WONDERFUL! I can't say enough good things about him. He diagnosed me 2 years ago. He is a celiac specialist and has often told me he was picked on by his collegues because he focused on celiac so much believing it is the most underdiagnosed digestive disease in the country. He is the most compasinate ,understanding, knowledgable doctor I have ever met in my 45 years. As far as follow ups -I just had another one yesterday. After my appointment as I was walking to my car in the parking lot I heard my name being called. He actually followed me out to give me some info on a gluten free place he heard of recently. If you have any question he will call you back that day . Since my diagnosis he has seen me back I think 4-5 times for checkups. He has also ordered a second celiac panel and 2 full blood workups already. Yesterday he said he will see me in a year unless I have a problem and he will do blood work then again. He makes you feel like you are his only patient. If you can make the trip to see him I guarantee you won't be sorry. My mother also sees him as she has Barretts Esophogus and she recommends him to everyone. Good luck!

Whatever you do, stay away from Albany Gastroenterology. I have received very little relief or help there. I am still seeking a good GI doc. Please let me know if Dr. Purcell works out. I have been trying to get an accurate diagnosis for four months. I have been in severe pain and have nausea every day. I was even hospitalized for five days and all I get is "whatever it is, celiac or not, it will resolve itself." I am frustrated.

I went to Dr. William Gusten at Saratoga-Schenectady Gastro, as suggested by

scm. He is the best! I have sent 3 more people to him. Give his office a call. The Burnt Hills office will have the first opening. Trust me, he's compassionate, caring and thorough. Let me know what happens!

I have had no luck with Albany doctors, and have had to trek out to Minnesota for specialized GI care. If this isn't possible for you, I am hearing good things about the Saratoga group. My home-base GI team is at Albany Med now. They are good, it just depends who you get. I saw Dr. Sood the other day and he seems pretty good.

Yes, hon....that was me! :) I told you on your other thread about my GI, Dr. Gusten at the Schenectady-Saratoga Group. And I told you back in December and I still I highly recommend him.

I have trouble with nausea. It often starts when I’m anxious about something (home repairs, sick dog) but continues long after the home is repaired or the dog is healthy again. When it happens I eat less and lose weight.  My gastroenterologist suggested ginger or peppermint tea. I don’t know if that will work or not because I haven't had the problem since she suggested it.

Hello  I'm not sure what to think . Seems no matter what I do I get sick. I had some yogurt with only 2 grams of sugar and is labeled gluten free ...the strawberry version seemed to really set me off My jaw is burning as well as my stomach and my feet.  Horrible pain..plus acid reflux and nausea... sensitivity to touch pain. ..yikes !! I don't know if it's from the lactose in the yogurt or if I'm getting an ulcer  This condition can make you question yourself quite a bit.  Then if you are not sure the anxiety comes 😞 Does any of these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? The neuropathy is quite intense.  What do you eat or drink after this happens  Open to suggestions  Thank you

Of course my son is on a 100% gluten free diet.  I wish his symptoms were not debilitating as there are right now.  He cannot work, even when a miniscule of cross contamination occurs.  It's not just GI distress, but intense fatigue, brain fog, depression, anxiety, insomnia, etc.  It's literally neurological inflammation.  Not to be taken lightly here.  We have sought out many other possible ways to cope during this window of time (8 months!!!!)  without success.   AN-PEP does not help and seems like studies on this are not well researched.  So, we are trying this out because research shows some promising results.  And, all participants showed no cravings afterwards, no signs of addiction.  The patch is different than the oral route such as smoking, vaping, gum, pouch, etc.

Have you tried AN-PEP enzymes, for example, GlutenX (who is a sponsor here)? A lot of research has shown that it can break down small amounts of gluten in the stomach, before it reaches the intestines. It might be a better approach than risking nicotine addiction, and the questionable research around this. I also hope that he’s trying to be 100% Gluten-Free.

Hi all  I was diagnosed Coeliac a few years ago and follow a gluten free diet. The list of foods that I can eat without a problem grows shorter on a weekly basis. [I also have diabetes and asthma also].  BUT the reason I am posting this is because I seem to struggle with nausea quite a lot, which is really quite debilitating, and I was wondering if others suffer from nausea, even if following a gluten free diet.
