Have You Tried The New Genius Glutino Bread?

This morning I saw an advertisement for this new bread. It is currently on sale for $3.99 which is unheard of (for me, at least, as Udi's gluten-free bread here is $7.99).

I'm interested in seeing how it compares to Udi's bread.

The company which makes this bread is from the UK and I had the dark bread version last October when I was in London. It's awesome! My non-Celiac husband thought it was delicious also. You can actually eat this bread untoasted! :o

However, the version sold in UK stores is not frozen but fresh. I e-mailed the company after I returned home and asked if it could be shipped to the States but they said no, it was only available in the UK and Ireland right now. I told them that was no excuse and they needed to offer this bread in the States and Canada. Apparently, they listened to me! Actually, they were awfully nice people to correspond with. So they must have licensed out the recipe for production overseas, which is great.

As for the comparison to Udi's...I am not a big fan of Udi's bread. It's not bad but I was never a fan of fluffy type bread.

The Genius bread is a bit more dense but still fluffy enough for those who like Udi's. I did not try the white bread but the dark bread is great.

Please do! I know that you and I are both on the same quest - to find that elusive awesome gluten-free bread! Man, if only I could make a great chewy ciabatta that is like the real thing.

And it is elusive! Since I live in a small town, I have no idea when it might be available around here. I'll have to ask my local health food store as last summer they started carrying Udi's and then later Rudi's. No Whole Foods or Wegman's around here...

Bummer for us it contains egg. :(

hi, i want to say thank you to you and @trents   . after 2 phone calls to my GI, her office called me back to tell me that a blood test was “unnecessary” and that we should “follow the gold standard” and since my biopsy did not indicate celiac, to follow the no dairy and sucraid diet. i luckily have expendable income and made an appt for the labcorp blood test that day. i just got my results back and it indicates celiac disease i think 😭   im honestly happy bc now i KNOW and i can go gluten free. and i am SO MAD at this doctor for dismissing me for a simple blood test that wouldn’t have cost her anything !!!!!!!!!!! im sorry, im so emotional right now, i have been sick my whole life and never knew why, i feel so much better already   my results from labcorp:   Celiac Ab tTG TIgA w/Rflx Test Current Result and Flag Previous Result and Date Units Reference Interval t-Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA 01 28 High U/mL 0-3 Negative 0 - 3 Weak Positive 4 - 10 Positive >10 Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) has been identified as the endomysial antigen. Studies have demonstrated that endomysial IgA antibodies have over 99% specificity for gluten sensitive enteropathy. Immunoglobulin A, Qn, Serum 01 245 mg/dL 87-352

      Thank you this really helped.

Okay that is really good to know. So with that being positive and the other being high it makes sense she diagnosed her even without the endoscopy. So glad we caught it early. She had so many symptoms though that to me it was clear something was wrong.   yeah I think we had better test us and the other kids as well.

One doctor suggested it, but then seemed irritated when I asked follow-up questions. Oh well—

@GlorietaKaro, your respiratory reactions to gluten make me wonder if there might also be an allergic (anaphylaxis) component at work here.
