My Meeting With Marsh Supermarkets

Just wanted to update those of you interested--on my meeting with Marsh Supermarkets. The meeting went great and there are good things in store! Free gluten-free food samples in October for celiac disease awareness month, gluten-free food basket give-a-ways in the store, more gluten-free products, a gluten-free food list to be produced and distributed. I am working on getting them to partner with me to get an article in the Indianapolis Star or a story on the news. And I'm also trying to get them to sponsor me to make a brochure, print it and distribute it to doctors offices. I'm excited about it all :) Hopefull it will all come to fruition! Thanks to those of you who also passed along ideas to me...

Kate-

It should include all Marshs. However, products can vary a bit from store to store. However, the woman am I working with at their corporate office said that 99% of the time you can ask that a product carried at another location be carried at your local store. And she said oftentimes we can request totally new products. I will definitely post their gluten-free information what we finish it up. Have you noticed any new gluten-free or 'natural/organic' products at your store? Glad to see someone else here to shops there :)

I shop almost exclusively at Marsh, except for some products like Enjoy Life, Chebe, etc. and I am able to purchase most of my food from there (except for my rice or almond milk)...they have a much bigger selection of natural products (including carrying rice dream ice cream that I can "sometimes" eat) than our Kroger in town and are working to see if they can order me some passover mayo.

Kate-

Well, enjoylife and chebe were both on my list of products they should carry--so maybe you'll be a one-stop shopper soon! I still go to 3 different places... I'll keep you updated!

Hello, I was very stick,  with flu like symptoms, but my virus panel came back negative and we couldn’t figure out what’s going on. The doctor then added a celiac panel.  Has anyone ever had such a dramatic change?  What are the odds this is true celiac I am going to have an endoscopy, but it’s expensive and I just feel like why can’t the labs be enough?

Eating out in general is full of risks, but this article may help:

This kind of question is always difficult to give a definitive answer to because of so many variables. One such variable is the sensitivity of the individual celiac to small amounts of gluten cross contamination. An amount that causes a reaction in one celiac many not in another, or at least not be discernable which, of course, does not exactly equate to being "safe".

I don't live in the US, but based on this thread, I wouldn't risk it:   https://www.reddit.com/r/glutenfree/comments/1n2ehw8/cracker_barrel/   This app is helpful: https://www.findmeglutenfree.com/

I see that Cracker Barrel restaurants have a gluten free menu (not all locations, but one confirmed that they do). I was wondering if it is safe for my 5 year old son with celiac disease?
