Mimi's is a fairly new place in the Fondren area. They have several options that are naturally gluten free (tuna salad, chicken salad etc on bed of greens) and the lunch special tacos are on all corn tortillas. They are great about working with you (sure, bring your own crackers) and the owner even said she is going to try to start having a gluten free dessert. Great food, fair prices and it's nice to be able to go out to lunch.

      I cut out the rice because it was affecting my stomach at the time ... not necessarily dermatitis herpetiformis. It was Tilda Basmati Rice, sometimes wholegrain rice. I was willing to do whatever it took to heal. Too much fiber also disagrees with me as I have UC.

      But you didn't answer my question. When you consume gluten, is there an identifiable reaction within a short period of time, say a few hours?

      I am only wondering why you would need to cut out rice? I've never heard of rice being any issue in those with DH.

      My mother has celiac disease and was diagnosed with Afib around 8 months ago. She's 81 and around 2 months ago had ablation therapy done, which is a very common procedure to treat this, and has been out of Afib 95% of the time since then. Apparently the full effects of this treatment don't kick in for 90 days, so the doctors expect her recovery to possibly reach 100%. Be sure to discuss this with your doctor.
