Chili Beans

Hey fellow super sensitives!

I was wondering if any of you have had luck with Bush's mild chili beans. They say gluten free on the can but you know how that goes sometimes. Should I stick with dry beans and make my own or would plain canned beans be ok? Any certain brands? I'm wanting to make some chili.

Thanks

I can't even find any dried beans that are O.K. I have started to grow my own. You are probably less sensitive than I am. Try them.

I use Bush beans all the time without issues. I generally stay away from the chili/ranch type beans that have a lot of spices and other additives though regardless of gluten-free status. I have noticed a few brands (Great Value for example) that say they are processed on equipment with wheat so I stay away from those because I am reasonably sensitive in that way.

I tried Bush's mild with great success. I added a bit more chilli powder because they are pretty mild.

I'd consider myself pretty sensitive.

I also took digestive enzymes when I ate the chili. Beans, spices, and tomatoes are a little hard to handle with a system that's not healed yet.

Thanks Scott. They are gluten-free but cross contaminated.

Hi there @MCAyr I have a small umbilical hernia which came about during my second pregnancy.   I can just about see it, and feel it, when I stand or sit, but it is far less noticeable when I lie down.  I always know when I am putting on weight because I can get pain and burning near the site, funnily enough not on the hernia itself but either side!  I would imagine bloating could cause the same effect as weight gain. In my case I don't think it is my bowel protruding but a bit of fat  - sorry,  I realise this isn't painting a very pretty picture.  But in truth it is scarcely noticeable.  It has never really got bigger in size. I was rather hoping that it could be operated on but here in the UK they don't seem to operate on every hernia anymore.  My GP isn't remotely worried about it. In a way, I should be thankful - it is like an early warning system that I need to go on a diet! Cristiana

The hernia description would likely be unrelated to celiac disease, but you'd need to get it checked out by your doctor to be sure it's a hernia.
