Here is my latest delicious gluten-free creation....:)

I bought a bunch of Gluten Free Pantry boxed pie crust mixes, with the intention of making lots of pie crusts in alluminum pie pans and freezing them, because the frozen gluten-free crusts are so expensive. But I found the dough to be very difficult to work with, too sticky to get into the pie plate just right. So, I decided to take spoonfulls of the dough, press them flat on a cookie sheet, sprinkle them with brown sugar and chopped pecans, and bake them.

Then I stewed some apples with sugar and cinnamon to taste, added some tapioca to thicken the sauce, and topped the apples with the broken up pie crust pieces. Then added a few scoops of vanilla ice cream.....

Brilliant! How did you get that perfect star shape?

I'm wishing for one right now, with Rum Raisin Ice Cream on top, maybe a little chocolate.

Thanks for sharing, great idea. I was thinking about pie crust last night, after another sunken loaf of bread. I love a good pie and that looks yummy!

On a second (blush) look, I see that the perfect star shape is the serving dish. Nice presentation!

      If you have DH you will likely also want to avoid iodine, which is common in seafoods and dairy products, as it can exacerbate symptoms in some people. This article may also be helpful as it offers various ways to relieve the itch:

      You might also consider a low iodine diet as iodine is know to exacerbate dermatitis herpetiformis. But be careful with that as well as there are health problems that can accrue from iodine deficiency.

      Hi, Yes, the rash has gone. I still get the itches but there is nothing to see now, apart from a lot of discoloured areas where the rash was worst. Occasionally I get a single lump come up, a bit like hives, but no bigger than a pea and it goes after 24hrs and a steroid cream application. And yes, giving the gluten-free diet 110%. Very careful...

      Welcome to the the celiac.com community, @suek54! Is the Dapsone getting the rash under control? Are you practicing a gluten free diet yet? The only known cause for dermatitis herpetiformis is celiac disease.

Very careful about any cross contamination.  This is my fifth autoimmune condition so well and truly on that bandwagon.
