Zantac is a type 1 blocker.

Claritin is a type 2 blocker.

Here's a quick chart of antihistimines by type:

Open Original Shared Link

Sorry, but as I said, Zantac (ranitidine) is a H2 blocker--even the chart you provide the link to states this.

Here is TrishTrish (aka Catsmeow) discussion regarding her use of the Histamine 2-- Zantac working for her.

i managed to eat some green soup ill sip on that all day

for tomorrow i need to get everything i need for 2 weeks we are going to town and wont be able to go again for another 2 weeks

i am so confused it makes my head hurt as what foods to eat what not to eat

what to buy and what not to buy god greif

Coll--

just get the Earth Balance spread (soy free) to use as "butter"

Get So Delicious coconut milk (red carton) it's soy and dairy free

You can keep eating the gluten-free Rice Chex and Corn chex---you like those.

All meats--plain--are fine.

All vegs are fine.

All fruits are fine.

Rice is fine.

It does not seem like you need to avoid any other foods--at this point.

You are not allergic to them, right?

Get some ZANTAC --it is sold over the counter--- and just try it for two weeks? See if it knocks down the allergic response in you and if it will stop the BURNING in your gut you told me about.

Sorry, got them reversed, and referenced my own mistake. Point is people respond to different types. Try both of them before you give up.

I'm not here to argue with you IH. I'm attempting to support the info you gave the OP.

Try the root veggies! Try anything you want. Just be careful of the gluten.

For stock,if you cannot make your own, use Kitchen Basics or Pacific.

Yes, Coll--I really think you are having swollen glands from the allergens.

They can cause all the things you are feeling. I have terrible pain in my joints, back, spine--I understand how crazy it is.

Please try the Zantac--because it may help BOTH your burny gut and throat and your allergies--we hope.

Let us know. Good luck, honey.

That Benadryl makes me HYPER awake--but everyone else I know gets tired--go figure!!

Skip the oats unless you can guarantee they are gluten free.

The ranitidine should not harm you.

Try some corn pasta. BiAglut brand is delicious!!!

Try to get the So Delicious coconut milk--it is in the red box in the dairy aisle. It pours easily.

The coconut milk in the can is too thick for my taste--like on gluten-free Chex? does not work. I only use that stuff in a can for cooking.

Happy hunting!:)

collgwg Contributor

Bubba's Mom Enthusiast

I'm so glad you were able to have mac & cheese. :D

I've found the So Delicious coconut milk in the dairy cooler, but they make it in cartons that can sit on the shelf unrefrigerated..until you open it of course.

Now, you should try to relax a little, hon---you are pretty tapped out from feeling so lousy for so long.

ill just put the rest in the freezer and reheat some other time :)

collgwg Contributor

woke up at 4am cough and puke guts out not good

feeling super swollen and sore and yucky

do not think my system likes flour's or could it be baking soda? humm i will stay away from baking soda for a while and see what happens i almost think it is just the way my guts feel

and i think the pasta was just too heavy for my guts for right now mabe in a couple of months

IrishHeart Veteran

Sorry to hear this Coll. :(

yes, maybe mac and cheese was a lot for your digestive tract just yet.

Baking soda does not have much in it that could be an issue.

But it is difficult to say as I do not know what else you ate during the day.

An elimination diet is tricky (at least I thought it was) because whenever more than ONE food item is ingested, you cannot tell which one is the problem.

Go back to plain meat and vegs and keep a list all day long.

Drink a LOT of water. Hope you feel better soon.

If you do not improve soon, you really need to see a gastroenterologist, in my opinion. DEMAND a referral (if you need one) from your PC doctor or get a new doctor to help you. This is crazy for you to be so sick for so long.

It just does not make sense and I feel like anything we suggest only helps you briefly.

collgwg Contributor

i know its nuts

but i finally felt way better come mid afternoon i just drank l g and i found some cereal i dont have it with me right now but its called rice crisps i think anwyay its free of all top 10 allergens i had that with the so delish coconut milk oh and i found a can of coconut juice oh yummy i love coconut anything i hope to get coconut flour next time

im now about to eat mashed sweet potato with earth ball butter

boiled green beans and roasted chicken with just herbmare on it

looks and smells yummy wish me luck :)

and i have asian pare for desert half after supper and half later on for snack :) first time trying any type of fruit other than lemmon and blueberries in a long time :)

IrishHeart Veteran

Hope it all agrees with you. :)

collgwg Contributor

yup all is well :)

im making a turkey soup today with premade bone broth just unfroze and dumped in with sauted carrots celery onions leeks garlic cabbage cauliflour herbmare for flavouring

and a bag of premade frozen turkey meat dumped that in and let it simmer all day :)

oh i weighed my self and wow im 144 lbs wow before my digestive system messed up i was 198 lbs in a way thats good to loose all that weight getting alot of complements

but in another way my insides are messed right up

i swear i blame this all on my pill pushing doc

but it all comes down to being able to have the smarts to heal this body my self and with the help of everyone here :)

Glad you feel better, and I am also wondering if you have not benefited from using the digestive enzymes, taking the probiotics and eliminating the Nystatin your system did not need.

That drug causes bowel and stomach problems for people, especially if you take it for a prolonged period.

Glad you are eating again and nourishing your body.

Stay well! :)

I had a very rough month after diagnosis. No exaggeration, lost so much inflammatory weight, I looked like a bag of bones, underneath i had been literally starving to death. I did start feeling noticeably better after a month of very strict control of my kitchen and home. What are you eating for breakfast and lunch? I ignored my doc and ate oats, yes they were gluten free, but some brands are at the higher end of gluten free. Lots of celics can eat Bob's Red Mill gluten-free oats, but not me. I can now eat them, but they have to be grown and processed according to the "purity protocol" methods. I mail order them, Montana Gluten-Free brand. A food and symptoms and activities log can be helpful in tracking down issues. You might be totally aware, but I have to mention about the risk of airborne gluten. As the doc that diagnosed me warned . . Remember eyes, ears, nose, and mouth all lead to your stomach and intestines.  Are you getting any cross contamination? Airborne gluten? Any pets eating gluten (they eat it, lick themselves, you pet them...)? Any house remodeling? We live in an older home, always fixing something. I've gotten glutened from the dust from cutting into plaster walls, possibly also plywood (glues). The suggestions by many here on vitamin supplements also really helped me. I had some lingering allergies and asthma, which are now 99% gone. I was taking Albuterol inhaler every hour just to breathe, but thiamine in form of benfotiamine kicked that down to 1-2 times a day within a few days of starting it. Also, since cutting out inflammatory seed oils (canola, sunflower, grapeseed, etc) and cooking with real olive oil, avocado oil, ghee, and coconut oil, I have noticed even greater improvement overall and haven't used the inhaler in months! It takes time to weed out everything in your life that contains gluten, and it takes awhile to heal and rebuild your health. At first it's mentally exhausting, overwhelming, even obsessive, but it gets better and second nature.

Hi,  I care for my seven year old daughter with Celiac. After watching her for months, I have figured out that she has problem with two kinds of fats- animal fat and cooking oils. It basically makes her intestine sore enough that she feels spasms when she is upset. It only happens on days when she has eaten more fat than her usual every day diet. (Her usual diet has chia seeds, flaxseeds, and avocado/ pumpkin seeds for fat and an occasional chicken breast.) I stopped using cooking oils last year, and when I reintroduced eggs and dairy, both of which I had held off for a few months thinking it was an issue of the protein like some Celiac patients habe mentioned to be the case, she has reacted in the same fashion as she does with excess fats. So now I wonder if her reaction to dairy and eggs is not really because of protein but fat.   I don't really have a question, just wondering if anyone finds this familiar and if it gets better with time.  Thank you.

Hello, My name is Chanda and you are not the only one that gose through the same things. I have found that what's easiest for me is finding a few meals each week that last. I have such severe reactions to gluten that it shuts my entire body down. I struggle everyday with i can't eat enough it feels like, when I eat more I lose more weight. Make sure that you look at medication, vitamins and shampoo and conditioner also. They have different things that are less expensive at Walmart.

Thank you so much! I saw some tips around the forum to make a food diary and now that I know that the community also struggles with corn, egg and soy, the puzzle pieces came together! Just yesterday I tried eating eggs and yes, he’s guilty and charged. Those there are my 3 combo nausea troublemakers. I’m going to adjust my diet ☺️ Also thank you for the information about MCAS! I’m from South America and little it’s talked about it in here. It’s honestly such a game changer now for treatment and recovery. I know I’m free from SIBO and Candida since I’ve been tested for it, but I’m still going to make a endoscopy to test for H. Pylori and Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE). Thank you again!! Have a blessed weekend 🤍

Yes, I, too, have osteoporosis from years of malabsorption, too.  Thiamine and magnesium are what keep the calcium in place in the bones.  If one is low in magnesium, boron, selenium, zinc, copper, and other trace minerals, ones bone heath can suffer.  We need more than just calcium and Vitamin D for strong bones.  Riboflavin B 2, Folate B 9 and Pyridoxine B 6 also contribute to bone formation and strength.   Have you had your thyroid checked?  The thyroid is important to bone health as well.  The thyroid uses lots of thiamine, so a poorly functioning thyroid will affect bone heath.
