Upper Abdominal Pain For Over A Week

For over a week now Ive had upper abdominal pain that feels like a fullness. I have it throughout the day but especially after eating. In fact it feels fine in the morning before I eat. Ive had basic labs drawn and everything looks good. Even my H Pylori was negative. Im not one to have GI symptoms from getting accidentally glutenated, so Im not sure how that feels, and I dont think I ate any gluten. Im worried that something is wrong internally. About 3 years ago, pre-celiac diagnosis, I was hospitalized with dehydration from a stomach bug. As a result I left the hospital with my liver enzymes high and a Rx for gastritus. This feels kind of like that. I really dont want to go to the doctor unless I have to. And Im not sure which meds are gluten-free to treat the possible acid reflux. What should I do? What can I take? What should I ask the doctor?

Sounds like a stomach ulcer - especially the 'fullness' feeling. You can have those even with neg H Pylori, I've had a few. You should go to the Dr for sure they'll prob give you a proton pump inhibitor!

Ok I'll make my appt. I did have a stressful week and lost some sleep worrying. My stomach was in knots! What good that did me!

I had something to similar to that last spring. I was getting to where I really didn't want to eat. They checked my gallbladder for stones and function, did an endo, ran all sorts of tests... I was getting trace amounts of gluten in and as soon as I figured that out, I started to get better. Interestingly, my gallbladder was functioning at less than 70%. They also checked my stomach acid to make sure I produced enough, as that can be a symptom.

How did you figure you were still getting gluten?

good luck! vital wheat gluten made me violently ill. I will touch the stuff ever again.

I wouldn't consider this lucky. I can NOT tolerate the symptoms. And I googled it and I was not even getting 10 grams of gluten per day and I was extremely ill. They'd have to put me in the hospital. I'm not kidding.   I will have my first appt with a GI dr on March 4th   I will not eat gluten again - at least not on purpose   they are going to have to come up with a test that doesn't require it.

What Thiamine Hydrochloride brand do you take? Is it like the other vitamins I have added? What brand Tryptophan and amount do you take. Thanks

I would not think store bought yogurt would contain gluten unless it possibly could be through an added flavoring or coloring ingredient. Otherwise, it should be naturally gluten free.  Keep in mind that some companies are capitalizing on people's fears and ignorance (nothing personal intended) by labeling foods "gluten free" that are just that way by the nature of what they are. They are hoping to create a marketing edge over their competitors by adding "gluten free" because they know it may catch attention of those new to the celiac/gluten sensitivity experience without having to cost them anything in the way of changing their manufacturing process or doing testing.

I believe the GFCO does use a common logo for certified gluten free products (those containing not more that 10ppm of gluten) but nothing universal yet from the FDA for standard gluten free products (those containing not more that 20ppm).
