I hate to ask, but circumstances changed and now i may be without a ride this coming monday. my husband is supposed to do it but he may not be able to because of work. I am a bit leary to ask strangers, but if none of my friends can do it then i am out of luck. i am getting a colonoscopuy/endoscopy so i don't know how long the whole thing is. I might be able to get a ride from the hubby in the morning and then have to find one home. This is in the twin cities area.

If anyone is interested let me know. I can email more specific info. I would be more than happy to compensate you for gas and time.

There are a few places you can call to see if they can help with this. In most cases the person who brings you is not allowed to leave during the procedure and they will not let you go in a taxi etc.

Call your local hospital and see if they have voluteers, Red Cross may know of someplace or someone, Catholic Charities or another local church may also have a resource they can link you up with. The Office of the Aging may even have a program that has volunteer drivers that may be able to help even if you are under retirement age. If you have a local college that has Human Service classes or a Nursing program they might be able to help find someone.

If you have neighbors you speak with ask if one of them might be able to help. I was in the same situation when I needs a bunch of teeth pulled. I finally broke down and asked the woman who lives across the street. We only had a say hello it's a nice day sort of relationship before that but now we talk and help each other with shoveling snow and yard work etc. I lost those teeth and gained a freind that my usual shyness had kept from me.

Thanks so much for the advice! I will check into some of these. My husband sort of blind-sided me with this, so I was scrambling to come up with options. I may possibly have a coworker who can pick me up, but I will have to check on the clinic's policy about whether or not my ride has to be there the whole time. I can't imagine anyone wanting to wait for as long as these tests will take. Now I at least have some more options, though. Thanks.

Most times the procedures don't take as long as you would think. I was in and out in about 2 hours and almost an hour of that was waiting to get into the procedure room. It is good also to have someone with you as it can be hard to remember what the doctor said after you wake up and he/she comes in. You may still feel a bit loopy when you leave and do keep in mind you won't be able to drive until the next day so plan ahead for anything you might need.

They may want to also eliminate other possible causes for your symptoms/issues and are doing additional tests.  Here is info about blood tests for celiac disease--if positive an endoscopy where biopsies of your intestinal villi are taken to confirm is the typical follow up.

In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease--and you are above that level. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! May I ask why you've had so many past tTg-IgA tests done, and many of them seem to have been done 3 times during short time intervals?

@JettaGirl, "Coeliac" is the British spelling of "celiac". Same disease.

This may sound ridiculous but is this supposed to say Celiacs? I looked up Coeliacs because you never know, there’s a lot of diseases related to a disease that they come up with similar names for. It’s probably meant to say Celiacs but I just wanted to confirm.

I was told it was to see how much damage has been caused. But just told CT with contrast not any other name for it.
