Oh Happy Day!

Just had to shout. For the first time in months, on Thursday I finally had a day (and then another and now, today) with hardly any GI symptoms!!!! Wow, I forgot what it felt like.

I've been gluten-free for two months exactly and this is the first real relief I've felt. The numbness and severe joint pains I've had since January are getting better, too.

I realize I am very, very fortunate compared to those of you who have suffered for years. Although I've had symptoms all my life (my mom was told I had celiac as a baby, but then we all forgot about it), I became acutely ill in June.

By July my MD put me on a gluten-free diet and in August, he did more tests and gave me the diagnosis. That's probably record time. I know this new cease-fire down there may not last, but for now it feels wonderful! :D

So for others just starting out, yes, it does get better!

I am so happy for you! Nothing feels quite as good as feeling GOOD! I hope it continues, and it is wonderful to hear that you were able to get help without years of struggle.

WOOT!

That is super cool! I'm glad your on the mend and there will be rough patches but keep up the diet and always be cautious of adding new things (research research).

Yeah!

Thank you so much for the good wishes. :)

I made it five whole days feeling totally fabulous (my record since dx).

But then I was soooo stupid this morning. I used a jam jar my housemate used for his toast.

I thought if I looked the jam over super carefully and didn't see any crumbs, I'd be okay. :(

So wrong! I guess I am among the super sensitive... Going to a wedding this weekend and I think I'll just bring my own food!!!

Was the card itself lost or just the record or both?

We were flabergasted that the owner would not acknowledge a $50 e-gift card I purchased for my celiac wife. My wife tried to open it in the store and was informed there had been a system change and they could not find the record. No worries, she was told, just talk to management. Six months later, and numerous absurd back and forths, and the owner literally informs me there have been "bad actors", so she can't make good on this lost gift card. In other words, she accused me of lying and committing fraud... over $50! Please be careful with your orders and purchases here.

Yes, some people do get withdrawal from gluten but gluten withdrawal doesn't usually cause gut pain. Maybe more like general body aches and discomfort. We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic. This can damage the stomach lining if you eat it too often. Especially if your stomach lining is already compromised. Ibuprofen inhibits the body's ability to rebuild the stomach's protective mucosal lining. That's why it can cause peptic ulcers. As strange as it may sound, low level irritation/inflammation stimulates the body to rebuild the stomach lining. There are two steps in this rebuilding process known as COX 1 and COX 2. Ibuprofen represses both COX 1 and COX 2. Celecoxcib, a prescription anti inflammatory, inhibits only COX 2, making it less likely to cause damage to the gut lining.

Do you or anyone know alot about ibuprofen  I wasn't sure if I was eating too much apple sauce.   Something is making my pain so much worse  I'm referring to the intense pins and needles in my feet and lower legs.  Jaw actually has tardive dystonia and muscle spasms throughout my back Almost like an opposite effect that a pain reliever would do. I'm fairly new to this. Whatever is going on seems to be worsening  Do people get a withdrawal effect from gluten?  It's extremely painful 😖  I'll post that question or research on the site  Thank you everyone for responding
