Does Anyone Feel My Pain?

I brought a steak with broccoli and cauliflower for lunch today, but all my coworkers are eating Burger King. I'm eating an expensive steak, but I'm craving that juicy greasy gluten and dairy filled cheeseburger!! Does anyone feel my pain? You never appreciate what you have until you loose it. Not that burger king is that great for anyone, but man it'd be nice to just stop at the corner fast food place every once in a while.....

My husband and I live with his mother. Early in my diagnosis his mother brought home KFC and put it on the kitchen counter and the smell filled up the entire house. I cried like a toddler denied candy in the check out aisle. Not because it is good for me, but because I just wanted to be normal. Mostly now I get by okay. Last month I even drove my husband to KFC one night while we were out, went inside with him and waited with him for his food to be ready. I wasn't the least bit emotional about it. (Although I wouldn't get within a foot of any surface in the store, I wouldn't even touch the doors.)

It isn't healthy, but I do still indulge from time to time. (Although it has been a few months due to this stupid iodine crap.) I trot down to Wendy's, order me up some fries and a Frosty and enjoy. While it is the policy to always use a dedicated fryer, I still always put the cashier and the fry cook through a Spanish Inquisition type interrogation. It is a total double win, I get fast food and I get a fun afternoon of torturing poor innocent souls.

Maybe order the burger with all the fixings without the bun. I haven't been there since being diagnosed but I go to Five Guys at least every other week and do just fine. : )

Yep I hear ya. I feel the same way. It's hard but I would rather feel good. And I have some replacements for my faves.

Just the other night we got chinese food.. I order from a healthier restaurant that has an entire gluten free menu and my husband orders from a regular place getting all his favorite appetizers - including my all time fav crab rangoons.. at my restaurant I can't have any appetizers there, just meals and the rice options.. so we sit across the table from each other eating our separate dinners and the crab rangoons looked SO good .. but I resisted, I felt good at the end of the meal NOT eating gluten but I understand the feeling too! :)

How many of your co-workers wanted your steak? Monkey see (and smell), monkey WANT!

I always keep some exquistely naughty treat on hand for splurging after the let down of not getting some stupid gluten thing. (I better explain, some food treat like chocolate.)

I do order a bunless burger from Wendy's occasionally to get over junk food cravings too.

I’m having this type of MRI this afternoon,  What specifically do you want to know?  From what I’ve read, not all facilities use the same drink prep.

Hi I've been told I need a MRI on my bowels , I was booked for a colonoscopy, but because of my sever back issues and trapped nerve it can't be done , the nurse told me I will have to have a manitol drink a hour before the scan , I'm just a bit worried has I have issues with sweeteners like even a little,  I get a weird throat and ears and I've read it is a similar substance , not sure if anyone has had one of these scans or could give me some advise on the drink prep thanks in advance 😄

Hi all ! Can a celiac attack be so intense that it causes your entire body to work in reverse? Meaning really bad pain,  neuropathy and muscle,  jaw pain,  the stomach issues , Horrible anxiety and confusion??  I had a Tums and you would think I ate poison. My jaw and stomach did not like it . Not the norm for me. Things that are simple are just out of control. Anyone ever have this happen??  I'm trying to figure out what I ate or did to bring on a celiac like attack. I had an idea before but yesterday I didn't have any gluten unless it was in a medication ?! Any positive suggestions ??  Thank you

The following two lists are very helpful for anyone who is gluten sensitive and needs to avoid gluten when shopping. It's very important to learn to read labels and understand sources of hidden gluten, and to know some general information about product labelling--for example in the USA if wheat is a possible allergen it must be declared on a product's ingredient label like this: Allergens: Wheat.
