  1. I just submitted an Enterolab specimen a few days ago, I believe it can take up to three weeks to get results. I am also impatient. In the meantime, try not to glutenize in your uncertainty!
  2. Cornhusker, I am in a very similar situation. I have been gluten-free for 1 month now and the symptoms continually roller coaster in and out. Nausea is only occasional for me, but the other symptoms really seem to come and go with a vengeance. The good news is the good times are starting now to get better, so I hope to reach a better/ more reliable state...
  3. Just wanted to note that I only had an elevated gliadin IgG antibody (score 57, range max 20) and though I had two doctors tell me it meant nothing, I one that that said, "It is almost definite that you have celiac's disease." That final doctor diagnosed me on the spot w/out a biopsy (which is quite rare). Regardless, I have gone to Enterolab (www.enterolab...
  4. This is the truth. I've been gluten-free for one month now and it seems every week or so I continue to roller coaster drastically up and down even though I'm totally (as far as I can tell) gluten-free. Overall, the coaster seems to be heading in a positive direction. If there's one thing I've learned from this site, it's that patience is an absolute must...

    ARCHIVED Day 3

I recomment eating a lot of meat, vegetables, and white or brown rice. I find making large amounts of *simple* stir-fry a couple times a week generates enough leftovers for in-between meals. Just in the meats and vegetables category, there is lots of yummy food! Also how about potatoes? I personally adore sweet potatoes/ yams, you can wrap them in a freezer...
  6. Protein, protein, protein! Tuna, though strong tasting, can keep you going for a while, and is very easy to prepare. If you have a Wegman's near you get Wegman's best quality tuna- it's great. You can eat it right from the can. Everyone else has great advise too - eggs, protein mixes, etc... also I like green peppers - just rince and cut open and eat. For...
  7. Simple remedy if you're bloated w/ gas seems to be Gas-X.
  8. Confirmed, the link "Take Action" does not work
  9. Yes I'm discovering it's very difficult to predict recovery times, as of course each person is different. I have a feeling I have a long way to go to learning my own reactions, as I am still in the "recovery period" from being sick for months and only being gluten-free for 1 month. KLS, we hope you are feeling better soon! (Btw Shirley, I love this...
  10. These posts make me think I may be hypoglycemic. I had that glucuse tolerance test where they make you drink a ton of sugar water then watch you crash over 3 hrs and take your blood. Omg I thought I was going to DIE... but they say my sugar never went below 65, which I guess is good. I've been gluten-free for 4 weeks, am hoping it will help...
  11. Soy is a pretty common allergin. I also hear that those intolerant to soy tend to be intolerant to all legumes (peanuts, etc.) Maybe try cutting those out as well while you drop the soy, just to be sure? Carla, I hope you feel better soon! You've been so good to the people here, I'm so sorry to hear you're feeling crumby. For instance, I ordered the...
  12. Well I'm new to this, but from what I've read on many posts on this forum, a glutening lasts around 2 weeks. Hope you feel better soon!
  13. Yes, give the gluten-free diet some time. I just began about 4 weeks ago and I also still experience intermittent pain. From what I read on numerous other posts, recovery of primary symptoms (including cramps) can take 2-3 months to begin and quite a bit longer to subside totally. Stay on it! In the mean-time try Gas-X - it seems to help the pain for me...

    ARCHIVED Books

Great book - very entertaining, somewhat of a unique perspective on celiac disease (and especially how to cope w/ it), enjoyable to read.
  15. So sorry to hear about your suffering, it sounds excrutiating! In time you will look back and it will just be another memory added to the "saga of glutendom". At least now you have clear understanding of your gluten intolerance. Meanwhile I'll say a prayer for you. Good luck, this too shall pass!
  16. Sorry to hear you're not feeling well!
  17. Ash, I have experienced very similar symptoms. After being very sick for two months (bed-ridden for three weeks!) and then eventually cutting wheat out of my diet, I began to get the terrible cramps that lasted for a couple hours after eating. I went completely gluten-free on 7/6 and the cramps have mostly subsided since then to now. I think they were only...
  18. OK after reviewing this with my loving gluten-intolerant girlfriend who actually bought this rice flour for me, I guess it did NOT come from a bin afterall. The brand was "Joy Foods" brand, from India. Anyone have any opinions of this brand? Also, I've seen several posts warning about granular processed sugar... could the sugar cause this much harassment...
  19. Felt great all this past weekend (for the first time really since going gluten-free 7/6!), so wonderful that Sunday night I decided to celebrate by making some gluten-free peanut butter cookies (from scratch) and drinking 1 glass of milk. Immediately after eating the cookies and milk my stomach felt like it was under attack, all grumbly and nasty and unhappy...
  20. Yes, please post the brand name and specific product name so others can be careful to avoid. That is frustrating!
  21. Thanks. That's very good to know. How long do you estimate it took you on the gluten-free diet to pass the majority of your brian fog??
  22. The usual blood panel. Only result that was positive was gliadin IgG (result 57, max norm 20). One doc said this meant nothing; another said he believed I was celiac based on my symptoms and this number together. I'd like to get another confirmation if possible... I've been gluten-free for 4 weeks, and "mostly" gluten free for another 2 before that. Do...
  23. Steve, how long did it take from when you started going gluten-free to when the fever-like symptoms stopped? Also, what do you mean with beef "after last year's FDA new rules" ??
  24. Is this true? I've been off gluten for about 1 month, and I'm considering getting more testing to be thorough. If you're not eating gluten, how is Enterolab able to confirm diagnosis? (And how do you get testing done by them? do you need to drive to a major city?)
