  1. P.S. I LOVE ztatziki (spelling?) lisa
  2. Thank you, Meline, I am half Greek. My family is from Kalamata and Constantine in the Peloponnesses. I have not been to Greece since 1980 but hope to go back one day again. My Mom is French so it's quite a combo! lisa
  3. Bravie, Keep a food log- it could help you pinpoint other problems. It seems like a big pain in the u-know-what but it's really second nature once you get used to it and it can really help figure things out. I've kept one for going on three years now and it has been indispensible. I hope you feel better very soon! You will. lisa
  4. Thank you, everyone. Yes, SINFUL! Wicked! What a delight! Pectin just has always bothered me and they didn't used to put it in yogurt. Plain, anyway. I know it naturally occurs in fruits but somehow when it's added it gives me a funky feeling in my mouth. Have a good day everyone! lisa
  5. Yay! Thank you, Hak! That yogurt is the biggest treat I've had in 2 years! lisa
  6. Hi everyone. Does anyone know if Fage Greek yogurt is okay? (plain- says just pasteurized milk and probiotics) I just tasted 3 tables recklessly and, oh my word, is it good! I hope it's okay. Any info is much appreciated. Or if you know a safe plain brand that doesn't have pectin in it which all the U.S. yogurts seem to now. (When did they start doing...
  7. Thank you Patty and Lisa. (This is michael. Lisa is very sick with the flu so I'm checking this for her) p.s. Do you drink V-8 juice? Wondering if that's okay for Lisa. Thanks again
  8. Wondering if anyone could remind me (I'm sure it has come up before) if Tylenol or Advil are gluten-free? And if there are other pain relievers that might be? Thank you. lisa
  9. Gluten 15, I'd watch it with the Rice Dream if I were you. I used it for a few months when I first went gluten-free and thought I was just fine, too. Then my reactions started returning and it took me awhile to find out that that .002% (or whatever it is) of barley was getting to me after all. (I didn't know it was in there at the time.) Personally, I...
  10. Thank you, Cruel shoes and Gluten 15! I appreciate your help. (Still feeling MUCH better!) lisa
  11. Hi All, Could anyone please tell me a quinoa that's made in a dedicated facility? Also, is V8 gluten-free? Sorry if all these have been asked before... lisa
  12. Hi and welcome, Very cool! Thank you! lisa
  13. Hi, Thanks, everyone! Great corn chip advice; I may try one of those one day. Patti, I can't eat popcorn because it's very rough on the old intestines- at least I've always seemed to get an IBSish reaction from it. But I haven't had it in years. I wish I could. I also can't eat rice in it's regular form. It has to be softened up like in the Tinkyada or...
  14. Patti, Ugh. That's just what I figured would happen. Well, maybe I could figure out how to make a corn chip or corn tortilla myself- but where to find the safe ingredients? Hmm..... Thanks so much, Patti. I hope you are doing very well. lisa
  15. Hi everyone, I just wanted to update those who were so kind to help try to discern the culprit in my recent ill-health. After taking the Fritos out last week I feel leagues better. I am not able to report being asymptomatic but feel very much better. Was it the Fritos or a virus? I don't know. But I won't be eating any Lay's products now. I did just...
  16. Thank you Spunky and Yolo for all your thoughts. I very much appreciate you taking the time and will consider all you've said. I will say, cautiously, that since taking the Fritos out I am much less bloated and feeling much better. We'll see if it persists! Take care, lisa
  17. Thank you Rachel and Yolo, Yes, I know, the amalgams worry me but it really is out of the question right now unless my insurance would pay for it which I doubt. I will keep it in mind. I seriously have amalgam fillings in all my bottom back and most of my upper teeth as well! No new cavities in years, though, just wear and tear. Thank you for sharing your...
  18. Ursa, Yikes- that's very hard. I have no good advice. But, working with emotionally disturbed kids every day for seven years has taught me you can't save anyone but yourself. Sometimes that example translates to the rescue of someone watching. Some need to fall hard before they can crawl back up and change. Our kids are the most diffficult to watch fail...
  19. Oh, by the way ( I'll blame it on the amalgams) I do know it's a "digestive TRACT"! Must preserve the English language in this age of computer speak! lisa
  20. Hi, Yolo, Yes, I know all the research on amalgams and I sure wish I didn't have a MOUTHFUL of them! (Just got some more mercury today having a broken one fixed) My dentist who is very bright and caring thinks the mercury thing is hogwash- I don't know. But, seriously, I have very soft teeth with a TON of dental work and could not possibly either afford...
  21. Patti, Your response just brought me to tears because you expressed EXACTLY what I am afraid of: that this will not go away this time! Thank you for your kind encouragement; when I get in one of these patches it feels like the end of the world and I don't know how my family can stand being with someone who has to always run to the bathroom and feels luck...
  22. Thank you, everyone, SO much for your replies. I have taken out the Fritos (just today). In response, I had thought they were "safe" and where I'd been eating them for a few months with no major problems I thought I'd found a snack food I could grab because I cook EVERYTHING and lead a very busy life! (It was nice to be "normal" for awhile) I have also...
  23. Hi MaineQueen. Are you from Maine? Welcome- I'm a Maine girl. Lancome has a gluten-free line- Rouge Absolu. Pricey but very good. I'm not sure about others although I think I've read here that Cover Girl is okay, but you'd want to check that. Bare Essentials is gluten-free, too, last I knew. Good luck, lisa
  24. Hi everyone, I can't believe this. After FINALLY (2 and 1/2 years later) getting my tTg in the normal range a month ago, I am having the most awful week and I don't know what's wrong! Here's the thing: 8 days ago I started having horrible distension ( I look 5 months pregnant), bloating, gas, cramping and vague nausea pretty much constantly but particularly...
  25. If this is not your typical gluten reaction I would guess a stomach bug. There are some hideous ones circulating. Hope you feel better soon. lisa
