  1. Wow! Lucky you, I'm jealous! I'd love to find someplace like that. sounds wonderful.
  2. Yay! He did it! Nearly no problems either. His halloween costume arrived in the mail the same day, and so we had an exchange. Poop in bucket for Stitch costume and zinger. Woo!
  3. I've never read conflicting info on the gluten aspect, but I wholeheartedly agree with you on the illegal aspect. I've been losing a lot more weight ever since I decided no more MSG. It's amazing. Evil stuff that stuff is.
  4. MSG is gluten free. It isn't good for you, but it's gluten free. (Mostly. If made in the US. If made in Asia, it's usually a wheat source.) (Source, Triumph Dining book, I think. *grin*) Edit: Your in Provo? Cool. I'm in Salt Lake. Hellp fellow Utahn!
  5. I've done that. I've cheated twice, and thought one of teh times I was OK. Turns out it was just delayed reaction and I felt lousy for days afterwards. I really hope you start feeling better, glutening feelings suck. Shalia
  6. I'll save them the trouble. First: www.rettdevil.com www.crazymeds.org (which is one of, if not THE best, consumer driven pharmaceutical sites on the net.) And if you actually GOOGLE Kassiane, all but two of the FIRST PAGE are her. Open Original Shared Link Kassi is good people.
  7. Kassi is one of my best internet friends ever. I told her to come here. She's been disappointed. But she rarely tries to start arguments, she just always has the guts to tell it like it is (to her). Shalia (Also doesn't much care for the sigs, doesn't believe in sleepy body parts, prefers science, and thinks this board tends to be cliquish, but...
  8. How do I collect a stool specimen from an autistic kid? Does anyone have any ideas? I'm not sure what I'm going to do, or how I'm going to do it. I doubt he'll understand "poo in a bucket". Some of you guys have tested really little kids and I'm sure I'm not the only mom of an autistic on here. How did you guys succeed? Shalia
  9. Thanks for the links... I'll look them up. Well, I'll put up a good fight if he doesn't show up positive on Enterolab, but I'm reasonably confident he will. He's had problems w/ vomiting and headaches and diahrreah for years. We've just never known what it *was*. (We got that "toddler's diarreah" diagnosis and the "anxiety" for vomiting excuse...
  10. He isn't yet. My husband has always refused. He says he wants to know if gluten is "damaging" him before he will do it because it's "not fair". *sigh* I think he just doesn't want to give up the convenience. But if it finally gets Randy to give in to do the testing, then I'll happily wait two more weeks for Enterolab. And still happy dance...
  11. I FINALLY convinced my husband to let me get my son tested through Enterolab. I'm thrilled. I was going to take him to get blood tested tomorrow, but our insurance won't cover it, and we don't have the money, and Randy was FLIPPING OUT over Tyler needing a blood test. (He is autistic, as I've mentioned before, and does *not* do well with needles.) ...
  12. Nearly all caramel coloring in the US is gluten free. Enjoy your coke.
  13. No, GREAT question! I've been wondering how to do that myself. Thanks!
  14. I'd suggest seeing your endo about adrenal failure. I have a good friend who also couldn't get her blood sugar at anywhere near a decent level for quite a while until she got her adrenals taken care of. It sucks, because now she needs to be prepped with more shots, but it'll save her life. The last thing you'd want is to find out you actually have adrenal...
  15. Ouch. You must feel so frustrated. I've had to go around and throw away everything I can't eat because I know I'll break down an eat it. Sounds like you are the same. I hope you start feeling better soon, and eventually can eat more. No grains would be nearly impossible for me... (Here's to potato chips!) True. But after the dairy...
  16. Hey, thanks! That's just what I needed to hear. As soon as I have the money, I'm going to give them a try. Shalia
  17. Thanks, both of you. I'm wanting to do *something* and it seems like Optimal Research isn't as good as they used to be, so I'm thinking Lame Advertisement might be an alternate. Maybe I'll guinea pig for them.
  18. Has anyone ordered the Lame Advertisement tests? I'm firmly gluten-free, and I'm finally mostly convinced that soy is a problem, but I think I could feel much better if I got all the problem foods out of my diet. I want to know if anyone has ordered from them and what they thought? Thanks for any info. Shalia ETA: Wow... I guess this...
  19. Someone around here, I think it's Andrea, has an article about how soy intolerance can blunt villi like Celiac can. Other than that, I know nothing.
  20. We don't have Fred Meyer here, but I can try the store they turned into, Smith's Marketplace, and see if *they* carry them. I always forget. Fortunately, I can still do dairy. (For the time being... ) So it's really just the soy. But yes, soy lecithin makes me sick, it's one of the ways I figured out it was soy causing the problem was...
  21. I'm in Utah. Salt Lake to be exact. No, what you said really helped me. When I was craving a chocolate bar today I asked myself "is it worth being sick? Why make myself sick when I can avoid it?" and I was able to keep away. So you really helped me. Thanks. Shalia
  22. I guess I'll have to order them online, as NO ONE NEAR ME sells them! I've checked every health food store since you mentioned them before!
  23. My "testing" is dietary testing. I'd narrowed it down to corn, soy, or dairy that was teh potential problem. I drank a glass of egg nog, no reaction. I had some swedish fish, no reaction. I ate half a Kinni-too cookie, and my nose was stuffed up and my throat was thick and it was hard to breathe. Ingredient: soy. I've tested one other time, just...
  24. Well, I found otu today I can ameliorate my soy symptoms by takign Benadryl (I *knew* it was a plain allergy!) and that's *not* going to be helpful to staying off of it. *sigh* I can't afford to become a benadryl addict. Just for soy. ACK! I need some motivation. (Stay off teh stuff, Shalia!)
  25. OK, since I've just figured out teh soy thing, I've cheated twice already. I don't know what's wrong with me. I've been gluten-free for 2+ months and had one cheating, and soy (lite, can't honestly say free) for four DAYS and cheated twice. It's too easy to cheat on soy! How do I convince myself to take this just as seriously as gluten? I'm really...
