ARCHIVED Do Any Biopsy-positive Celiacs Get Offended When Someone With
chewymom replied to Nantzie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Don't some doctors say that positive dietary response is proof enough? Seems if it's good enough for a doctor, it should be good enough for a celiac group! -
ARCHIVED Lung Nodules/deposits And Celiac
chewymom replied to JodiC's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have not been diagnosed with celiac disease, although I am suspicious. My daughter had a positive Enterolab test. Anyway, I have begun seeing a pulmonologist for asthma, and because pulmonary fibrosis runs in my family. I had a pulmonary function test which came out good, but I also had an x-ray which showed a granuloma in my right lung. I don't know... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Disease And Pneumonia
chewymom replied to Mango04's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Oh uggh. Don't even tell me this. I have a son who had pneumonia once a month from age 6-14 months, when it was finally discovered that he was aspirating reflux into his lungs. He finally had surgery for reflux at 18 months. Now I'm wondering if he should be tested. I know eventually the whole family should be, but I just don't want to deal with this... -
ARCHIVED Grain Mill/grain Flaker
chewymom replied to Helena's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I have a Grain Master Whisper Mill. It works excellently, and it has a lifetime guarantee on the motor. It is supposedly quiet, compared to most mills--I don't know how others sound, but this one is not exactly a whisper! Still, it has worked great for us for years, although I have used it for wheat primarily (meaning I suppose I'll have to replace it... -
ARCHIVED Ummm...anyone Go From The Big "d" To The Big "c"?
chewymom replied to chewymom's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Now that is an interesting thought. I have definitely gone nuts with the rice products--especially rice pastas. I make some kind of stir fry almost every day for lunch--it's something I've grown to LOVE. Maybe I'm obsessing?? Of course, it didn't help that spinach--my favorite green--was pulled from the shelves. Maybe I need to go back to my spinach... -
ARCHIVED Could I Have Celiac Symptoms
chewymom replied to kasia's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Kate, You may already be pretty sure it is celiac, based on dietary response and the replies here. But here's another thought to consider. I once had giardia, and its onset was really similar to what you desribed. Anyway, just something else to consider! I hope you find a definitive answer soon! -
ARCHIVED Ummm...anyone Go From The Big "d" To The Big "c"?

I had never heard that magnesium helps--I'll have to try that! -
ARCHIVED Ummm...anyone Go From The Big "d" To The Big "c"?
chewymom posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yep, another p00p thread. I spent my entire childhood constipated. My mom had me on Exlax so much, I still don't like chocolate bars to this day. She even made me drink castor oil. Anyway, for four years, I've had diarrhea primarily, with a few normal p00ps thrown in there. I've been gluten free (as best as I can, being new to this and all) for about... -
ARCHIVED Questions About Robitussin And Benadryl
chewymom posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think I'm having my first ever brain fog. I was sick all last week, and I took either Robitussin or Benadryl nightly so I could sleep. It has been three nights since I last had anything, and I still feel like I can't shake the cobwebs out of my head. It feels like I OD'd on Benadryl or something. Do these have gluten? I just can't figure this out,... -
ARCHIVED Bleh! New Grist Is Gross!
chewymom replied to chewymom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
To me, there's just an aftertaste that "bites." I'm glad some of you like it. Looks like I'll be enjoying my wine now. And if I get really desperate for a beer, there are five more New Grists in my extra fridge.... -
ARCHIVED Bleh! New Grist Is Gross!
chewymom posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was actually in a place where I was able to buy a 6-pack of New Grist over the weekend. Tonight I opened a bottle...and YUCK! That stuff is nasty! Oh, I am so gonna miss my yummy Killians.... -
Hi! I'm exactly forty, so can I join? Nails: Fingers are short and bare; Toes are either bare or have brown polish. Currently they are brown because when I took the polish off, they looked yellow. Yuck! Lipgloss: I wear different stuff--my favorite is Bath & Body gloss, although sometimes I just wear Carmex or something--my lips are so dry in...

ARCHIVED Need Advice On Replacements For Food For Daughter
chewymom replied to chewymom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thank you so much for all the ideas! One more question--what fast food places have gluten-free milkshakes? That would be a nice treat for her occasionally, I think! -
ARCHIVED Need Advice On Replacements For Food For Daughter
chewymom posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm finally facing the facts with my daughter and going gluten-free. For the most part, this won't be that traumatic. She has never liked sandwiches and likes very few crackers, so that is good. It hit me this morning that one biggie for her will be Sunday morning breakfasts. We have a tradition (going back to my childhood, many years ago) of having... -

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Dog Food? ;o)
chewymom replied to Yenni's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Where did you find that Barking at the Moon dogfood??? My dog is allergic to soy, and this way cheaper than the prescription Science Diet stuff we feed him now! I could order online, but shipping is high...wonder if I can find that locally! -
That sounds EXACTLY like me! I've quit wearing makeup--I thought I had developed a makeup allergy. But now I'm wondering...my problems w/ my eyes feeling goopy and grainy a lot, itching all the time, and occasionally looking like I have pink eye all started around the same time as my tummy issues, although that never dawned on me til just now. Hmmmm.....

ARCHIVED Gi Doctor Anti-enterolab
chewymom replied to Mamato2boys's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
That's exactly what my daughter's pediatrician said to me, and she has had weird poo basically all her life. She tested as being gluten sensitive thru Enterolab. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Dog Food? ;o)
chewymom replied to Yenni's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yep--it's Clemson! My in-laws live there and got the whole family--25 of us--together for a big family pic, and then we did individual families. Pretty campus!! -

I have homeschooled a couple of times, but public school is a good fit for us at this point! -
ARCHIVED What Does Your Username Mean?
chewymom replied to mythreesuns's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I'm more "crunchy" (used cloth diapers, used a sling, have a garden, cook from scratch, a bit of a tree-hugger) than most people that I know, but I still have quite a few non-crunchy tendencies...so I'm chewy!! And I'm a mom (of five, I might add). -
ARCHIVED I Finally Did It--my Own Personal Gluten Challenge
chewymom replied to chewymom's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Cornbread, Yes, it is that same daughter. I believe that you are right, but I've waffled so much. My "story" is this....My daughter has complained of her tummy hurting since she was able. She is my fifth child, and I spent my whole life constipated until she was born, when I suddenly began having runny poo--almost like diarrhea. I attributed it... -
ARCHIVED I Finally Did It--my Own Personal Gluten Challenge
chewymom replied to chewymom's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Is there a place where you can get gluten-free pizza/crust? Or do most people make their own? My daughter's birthday is actually on Wednesday, so I'm waiting until after that to really make a switch for her--I don't think I'm quite ready to try gluten-free cake yet! -
ARCHIVED Cleaning Out - What Ingredients To Look For?
chewymom replied to AmyTopolski's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I found a thread here: Open Original Shared Link that may have what you are looking for. It seemed a bit specific to Aveda, but if you scroll down, it looked like it had some ingredients listed to watch out for. HTH!
