  1. Thanks everyone , it's means a lot to me to have some support. I went to a new GP and got some bloods for thyroid, iron and vitamin levels and she's sent me for a bone scan next week (she got it for me on medicare without the confirmed diagnosis so I'm happy about that) even though she didn't come up with much she did take the time to explain the diagnostic...
  2. I don't have him anymore, I had considered the dust and had my allergies tested for it. He was on a pellet diet not seed so there was no wheat (although it did have barley and oats in it). The symptoms I have ATM are different to when I get glutened.
  3. My kidneys should be OK, I get them looked at regularly, had the scans, x-rays, bloods etc (I have a genetic kidney defect that causes me to get a lot of stones) I have a bit of scaring on one but they're functioning fine, my GM died of kidney failure and mum is diabetic so they were the first things my family looked at when I got sick. Osteoperosis is on...
  4. I think it could be my thyroid, mum just told me tonight her and my GM have thyroid disease, I've had tests previously and as usual the doc is an idiot, they do things like order tests then when they come back they don't know what they mean, so they call the lab and don't want to admit they don't know what the lab is talking about. I spent 4 hrs up the hospital...
  5. Thanks flourgirl, it's really frustrating I'm just so fed up. I've been on the diet in its strickest sense a little over a year. I cut out the obvious gluten before the allergy clinic to see if it did anything and saw a big improvement, I was so sick I couldn't wait any longer. I asked the doc to send me there after a psychologist insisted, I've been doing...
  6. I'm about at the end of my rope, doc is hopless, all the docs here are hopeless, allergy clinic didn't do coeliac test pre elimination diet so now they want me to do a gluten challenge to tell me what i already know and am already doing, how did these idots get a licence. Youngest son just got back bloods, he has anemia, waiting for his coeliac test to come...
  7. My antibodies were negative (not suprising since I'm gluten free) My genotyping was apparently positive HLA DR/DQ Genotyping for coeliac disease HLA-DR 3, 15 DRB1 03, 15 HLA-DQ 2, 6 HLA-DQA1 01, 05 HLA-DQB1 02, 06 CONCLUSSION GENOTYPE SUSCEPTABLE FOR...
  8. I had bloods done and when the results came back I was negative for the antibody test but positive for the gene test. My GP doesn't know what this means and told me he'd have to get back to me on it. I've been gluten free for some time and the allergy doc told me the antibody test gives a false negative if I'm not eating gluten. Also my imediate family...
  9. About 18 years ago was when I had the worst of my symptoms (just after I had my eldest son, yes it's been going on this long and a stack of misdiagnosis in the mean time where the treatment made me worse eg: "irritable bowel, eat more high fibre cerials") I don't ever want to get that sick again. I don't know if I posted on it before but I lost 4 stone in...
  10. Well I finally got to the allergy clinic after several doctors refusing to send me and wanting to blame it on anything from depression to irritable bowel to chronic fatigue (I thought they were meant to eliminate all the other potential physical causes first ) One sent me for bloods some of which came back positive and then told me she didn't know what they...
  11. Well I got about half of it sort just going gluten free, then I felt fine and thought I could start eating it again and you guessed it I got sick. After speaking to a doc familiar with food intollerance/allergy I was sent off to the allergy clinic where they've put me on the elimination diet. I've been on it for the last few months and they have given me...
  12. Whew, I'd been looking for an alternative to sandwiches so I thought I'd try sushi rolls but with meat and veg instead of the raw fish, I got the gluten free soy sauce (doesn't taste very nice) I just wanted to be sure the rest of the ingredients were ok. Thanks
  13. Now I know why I'm sick from it some of the time not others. Beware in pubs, most are honest but I used to work in one that topped up with the cheap stuff.
  14. I have trouble with Flagyl which ironically the doc gave me when I went there with stomach pain.
  15. Is glutenous rice a problem or is it just a name mix up? What about rice vinegar? The ingredients said it's mostly gluten from rice?
  16. Just a quick update. I've been gluten free just over 6 weeks now. I can't believe the difference! I've had a couple of meals that have upset me during that time but mostly it's cross contamination combined with dairy thats given me the bad reactions. I'm not sure about the cornflour they use in the chineese food (I get tired and foggy but no upset stomach...
  17. I've substituted a lot of the food I couldn't eat with alternatives types rather than switching to the gluten free specialty products, I eat a lot of rice as opposed to pasta or bread, I make my own gluten free sauces from recipies I downloaded off the internet (they take the same time to make as the packaged ones take to mix or heat up, just swap the normal...
  18. The Dogtorj article made a lot of sense, just skimming through it I noticed the exact things I was thinking about, it just made sense. I've been worried about what the big companies have been doing to our food for some time. My grandmother couldn't buy seed that would regenerate with the next crop. A family friend had an orchard and Coles told him what...
  19. Is there anything out there on what causes Celiacs or why it is becoming so common? Is it possible it's been around for a long time and we just didn't know what it was? My uncle on my dads side died as a child from "disentry" (my dad is the genetic link with celiacs) could he have had it and they just didn't know? I found a site recently that said celiacs...
  20. I've noticed a strong reaction to red wine after going gluten free. Also some pre mixed drinks have this effect on me, could it be the preservative? maybe that is why some times (some bottles?) are OK, the drink now as opposed to cellar wines contain preservatives. I'm fine to drink strongbow cider though. Red wine makes me really agitated cold and panicky...
  21. The wheat free shampoo and conditioners made a huge difference to my scalp, i haven't had an itch since. I used to think the lumps were pimples from rubbing my neck or pulling my hair back too tight (they were hell when i had extensions) haven't had them since either. The gluten free stuff isn't always expensive, I checked the ingredients in the supermarket...

    ARCHIVED "the Trigger"

My first child. I'd had symptoms before but more a grinding in the background, nothing I could put my finger on. After I had my first child nearly 17 years ago my symptoms got so bad I was sure I was dying I deteriorated that quickly, the drs could explain it.
  23. It's normal, it just means the light is strong/your too close to it. The reason your palms are lighter is because they don't tan, you'll notice areas of your body that don't see sun will "glow" too. If you look in the mirror you'll also see that your teeth and the whites of your eyes glow green. Also some things like bleach and the chemicals in white paper...
  24. Melatonin tablets help with getting back into a sleep routine, a lot of people use them to help with jet lag but they help me get back into sync after working nights, getting out in the sun first thing helps too but it takes longer. Try to get to bed before it gets too late in the evening, ear plugs and dark windows will help you stay asleep when the sun...
  25. I'm getting the same things too. I'm on my third week, the headaches have stopped but now I'm exhausted and have a bit of an upset stomach, joint and muscle pain, puffed up like a baloon and I'm not tollerating any food real well right now. Not as bad as before but not good either. I did a detox diet a few years ago and got so sick on it I had to...
