  1. Rachel, I've found this out too about myself. And others as well. I noticed that the only people who brought me flowers and food after my surgery were other women who had similar surgeries or other surgeries. Even my friend who was hit by a car and has been doing some serious recovery went out of her way to bring me flowers. Even one woman I met on the...
  2. Wow, that's so insidious . I can't wait to tell my 15 year old stepson. He's always coming home smelling like smoke. He says he doesn't smoke, and that his friends do and his friends parents do. Whenever he gets sick, he's paranoid that he has cancer or something. I'm always telling him that smoking is one of the worst things he can do for his health...
  3. Huh, that's weird . Gotta be the mycotoxins then. I'm not sure why ghee would be worse than butter. It works better for me than butter. Oh yeah! I bought them for my husband when he turned 50 two weeks after we got married. Does that mean when you get black candles when you turn 40 or 50 that it breaks the curse of getting old . I wish...
  4. Sorry you can't have dairy. It's definitely a tough one to give up as there are no good substitutes for cheese. I've been successful substituting coconut milk for cream in my soup recipes that call for cream. I also use ghee (clarified butter) instead of butter. We can buy it here in the States in the natural foods stores. If you can't buy it already...
  5. Have you tried ghee? I don't have any problems with that and I use it to cook my eggs instead of butter. When you think of how much grains cost versus vegetables, you gotta figure that "veggie-fed" eggs means the chickens get fed mostly grains and probably just a little bit of vegetables. Claire
  6. Hi NoGluGirl, I think your ritual is a good idea . Setting your intention for healing is a very powerful thing, no matter how you do it. Let us know how it goes. Claire
  7. Ok, that's pretty messed up . I don't know what else to say, but use some of that anger to do whatever you have to do to help yourself! I hope things get better for you soon. Claire
  8. And now for something completely different... Rachelville reminds me of Pudgeland. I had a friend in high school who's nickname was Pudge. On one of our crazy weekend partying sprees, I invented Pudgeland, the place we went when we were doing you know what. Of course Pudge was the Prez. We appointed our friends to various offices. I can't remember...
  9. Oooohhh ! Yeah, that's about as clear as mud, as we say here in the west! I'd think that the BioSET could clear you of the mycotoxins. If I can get cleared for gluten, I'm sure you can get cleared for mycotoxins ! Claire
  10. Hi Rachel, Congratulations on being able to eat the eggs! Yeah, BioSET seems to work, as mysterious as it is. I've often wondered about the egg thing too. I think that eggs from chickens that are fed a vegetarian diet means that they do get grains. We had someone selling eggs at our farmer's market last year and I asked if they fed their chickens...
  11. Hi NoGluGirl, I wasn't quite sure what the situation was with your parents, so I didn't want to say anything at first . It sounds like they have the means to help you. I have to admit that I'm kinda mad that they aren't helping you more. But perhaps you could present them with the information you've been gathering and explain that you really need to...
  12. This is an interesting thread. I'll have to watch the movie. My nephew has Asperger's syndrome. My brother also has some Asperger traits. My Mom said he didn't talk until he was 3. They were thinking he was mentally retarded, but when he did start talking, he talked in whole sentences . I'm sensitive to noise and light, but only when I'm really...
  13. Hi NoGluGirl, Sound like you are in a tough situation. What is your holistic physician's take on the bleeding and what is causing it? I've never heard of candida causing abnormal uterine bleeding. You may have multiple things going on, the candida and whatever is causing the abnormal uterine bleeding. I think it's important to find that out. I don...
  14. Stupid thimerisol ! The things I did to be in the Peace Corps , but I wouldn't have had it any different. It was a life changing experience for me. Claire
  15. Could be Oral Allergy Syndrome. I used to get that burning feeling on my upper lip after eating nuts.
  16. I think there is so much that we don't know about viruses. I often wonder what the effects of getting West Nile Virus and Epstein-Barr Virus (mono) in the same year did to me . I also had Hepatitis A. When I got it in the Peace Corps, it was before there was a vaccine. You had to get gamma globulin shots every 4 months. I was on schedule for...
  17. Hi Rachel, Oh, ok, that makes more sense. I know you are just giving us snippets of articles, but I'd really like it if you could include the name of the author and article, book, or website when you quote something. That way, if I want to read more, I can go check it out myself. Dr. F told me that antibody testing isn't very reliable because it...
  18. Hi NoGluGirl, I had to go back and look at your history to understand a little about the bleeding. The yeast may be a problem for you, but the Depo-Provera shots are probably not helping you anymore at this point. I think you should get off the Depo-Provera shots and find a new gynecologist. I don't think your doctor knew what she/he was doing when...
  19. Andrea, sorry to hear about your Dad. Where's the little huggie smilie faces when you need them? Rachel, thanks for the info on metal detox. I asked Dr. F about it last time I saw him, and he told me my testing options. He said that I should probably have my amalgams removed at some point, but I didn't have to do it now. It's going to have to wait...
  20. Cara aka JCC still posts on Open Original Shared Link. Actually, the crash of Braintalk last year motivated her to put Open Original Shared Linkon a separate website. All that info was on Braintalk and then it was all lost in the crash . Braintalk eventually came back to life, but the community split because a new forum, , started while Braintalk was...
  21. Hey Rachel, Have you ever considered making your own website or blog? You could put all this cool information from this thread on it. There is a gal who did tons of research on gluten related illnesses and made a website out of it. You've probably seen it, it's called Open Original Shared Link. Claire
  22. It's like David Letterman . Well, when I add cheese back in, I'll look for these. Some of my favorite foods are fungi! I love hunting for mushrooms in Colorado, but they don't seem to agree with me as much as they used to . I liked the "Better Health Guy" website and what he has to say about genetics: I also love genetic...
  23. Welcome Melissa! So, what's the connection between corn and candida, besides the carbs/starch ? I like them, but they took some getting used to. I usually put a little bit of water on them and heat them up in a pan. They taste better this way. I don't even like to eat corn tortillas anymore. Miamia, sorry to hear about your doctor...
  24. Hi Peace, I don't drink any of the alternate milk products because they have way too much added sugar in one form or another, which I would think wouldn't be good for your candida. Unsweetened soy milk is just nasty . Can you have coconut milk? I use it in place of milk and cream for a lot of things. It has the added benefit of having antimicrobial...
  25. Rachel, Thanks for the info on MSG. Do you have a website for that? I'll have to print it out. My gluten-free oats are from Open Original Shared Link. There carry them at one of the local health food chains here, but not at Whole Foods . I believe Boulder is WFs biggest money maker, so you'd think they'd carry them there . I think I paid $...
