Thanks, I ate there with my family before I was gluten-free and it is such a neat place to go. Make sure you go with a group of people the serve a lot of food!

I am about to have a baby and I have been told not to eat any hospital food. So I want to make some dishes and freeze them so that my husband can just bring me my food and not worry about it. Plus I wanted to make extra meals for the first week or so we are home. I need some recipes that are easy to make and that will freeze well. Of course I would...

ARCHIVED Do Gluten Mistakes = Miscarriage?
KayJay replied to fweenyp's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
First congratulations on your pregnacy! I hope you don't have any problems with this one. I don't know how much gluten it takes to hurt the baby. I was told not to eat out and I really don't unless I know it is gluten-free for sure. But I am sure I have had some gluten it is almost impossiable not to. I am 31wks and the baby is doing great. I would... -
I just usually say that I have allergies and I cannot have wheat. My dh is fatally allergic to peanuts so between the two of us we have a lot of questions. Most places get concerned when you say allergy and will do anything to help us out. We don't eat out very much though and we try to only go to places that I know what I can eat. Then I just order what...

I went off the pill and went gluten-free at the same time so I am not sure what really helped me but I was very swollen and had gained over 25 pounds of water weight. They kept telling me it wasn't the pill but when I went off of it I went back to my normal size. Of course it could have been gluten making me swollen too. I guess I will never know because...

ARCHIVED Any Gluten Free Ice Creams?
KayJay replied to PreOptMegs's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
We just bought some blue bunny ice cream bars. Choc. on the outside vanilla on the inside they are really good. I wanted some fudgesicles but I couldn't find any that were gluten-free. All of the ones at our store contain wheat. Anyone know of some please let me know. BTW a lot of Blue bell Ice cream has wheat in it especially their chocolate... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Dog Food?
KayJay replied to KaitiUSA's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
do a google search for burpdog biscuits. She makes gluten-free dog treats that are supposed to be really good. I have never gotten any but they are popular around here. We feed our dog Nurto it was the only food that didn't make her sick. I think it has wheat in it but not much and I have never had a reaction to it before. A cheap way is make your... -
ARCHIVED Looking For Answer Before We Try?

Diabetes can be very serious during pregnancy so make sure you have a good doctor and they watch her closely. But I agree with the others she can have a healthy baby. -
Megan congrats on your little boy that is a cute name! We had our second ultrasound today and I am happy to announce our little girl is still a girl and looks to be very healthy. She weighs 3 pounds Last time she didn't weigh enough to register I can't believe how much she has grown then again I can because I see my own tummy growing every day...

Laurie Congrats when are you due? I am due August 11th sounds like we might be close. My G.I. gave me a pamplet a couple of weeks ago that said they only things that could prolong the on set of Celiac is Breastfeeding for as long as possiable and delaying starting gluten in the diet and how much/often they eat gluten. I think it is going to be hard...

We were out shopping and went to Don Pablos and it was such a great experience. Since we didn't plan on eating out I didn't have a menu for them with me but we asked and the manager printed one for me with every thing I could eat. They kept coming back and checking to make sure every thing was okay and they were so nice. I think the manager might have...

I am feeling pretty good now I did have a rough 5 months at the beginning but now I feel better. I think that is also why my dr. is a little more concerned. I finally gained weight and she said last time I was in well you finally look pregnant! We are having a girl Madelyn Grace. I think the extra ultrasound is good just to make sure she is growing...

I am just wondering if you are treated any different from your ob dr. because of your celiac. Mine knows I have it but doesn't know much about celiac. She sent me to a GI who wants me to see a nutritionist. My ob also scheduled me for an extra ultrasound to make sure the baby and her organs are growing properly. And I have to go in every 3 weeks instead...

ARCHIVED Can Gluten Cause Problems With Celiac Pregnancy
KayJay replied to Melissa's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I think you and your baby should be fine. My G.I. dr. told me that I should not eat out until the baby comes. And that I should get my blood levels checked monthly for deficinces. My insurance would not pay for that so I never did the baby seems to be growing fine anyways. But I do try not to eat out. Of course it is hard and I do eat out at places that... -
I didn't know much about cooking either at first but I find that the gluten-free cookbooks are hard to cook with. I had a heart healthy fast and qucik cookbook and I like it a lot. They use cornstarch a lot of course you can always subsitute gluten-free flour for real flour. But they are simple fast and qucik meals that taste really good. Not to mention...

How's everyone doing? I thought it would be fun to share some gluten-free pregnancy treats. It seems that I want things that I can't have and usually that doesn't bother me at all. Well for a treat this week I made a fruit pizza the crust is made out of sugar cookies and then I put a fruit dip on it for a sauce and top with my favorite fresh fruit. It...

ARCHIVED Afraid I Won't Be A Mommy
KayJay replied to gabrielle's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
We waited for me to be on a gluten-free diet for at least 6 months before we started trying then it only took us 7 more months to get pregnant. I really think that in a few more months you are going to be feeling so great and healthy that your worries will go away. It is amazing but if you really stick to your gluten-free diet in about 6 months you will... -
Thanks I feel like I gained more weight this week than during this whole time. I am almost 6 months now and still in my normal clothes but I do see my belly growing now. I am only 5' but I am thin. One lady told me I was carrying the baby in my butt Not that I have grown there either but she said that if you don't have a belly that is where you care...

Thanks I am all better now! I started feeling better when I hit the 5 month mark and it seemed like forever. Carrie I hope you feel better I can't really recommend anything that helps nothing helped me much at all. But rest assured that you will feel better and actually get energy back

Anyone else having trouble gaining weight? I am 19 wks now and I think I have only gained a pound. I don't even look pg yet. My doctor seems a little concerned but I had an ultrasound last week and the baby looks good she is growing and seems to be right on track. And it looks like a little girl! But, I know I am not eating any gluten and that I...

Donna congrats to you! I hope you don't get sick this time around they say every pg can be different. Well, I am in my 15th week now and I still get sick about 2-3 times a day but that is better than before and I am keeping food down now so that is a plus. I can't figure out what triggers it for me other than just being hungry but sometimes I can eat...

I would say that you have to force yourself to eat protein. Try cooking it different ways or getting your dh to cook for you that is what helps me. I never want to eat anything but I know that I have to and it is so frusterating to be restricted even more now than before I know how you feel on that. Good luck to you of course it is all worth it at the...

Thanks for your help everyone. I am feeling somewhat better now. I am now having possiable problems with my heart so they are giving me an event monitor to wear for 24 hours this Tuesday. I think everything is fine I just have to check to make sure. I have never had a problem before well just with my stomach My GI dr. said I couldn't eat out for the...

congrats to you! I am 10 weeks along and have been super sick also. I am taking Celgan (I think) I am at work right now but I will check and see when I get home. It doesn't make me sick at all. I know that because I took it for along time before getting pg I will look it up and let you know. My GI dr. told me not to eat out at all the whole 9 months...
