ARCHIVED Sharp Pain In My Breast Bone Area
myserenityprayer posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
okay so i know that i have seen posts on here about a bruised feeling in the stomach after being glutened which i definitely experience but does anyone ever get a stinging pain in their chest? i used to get it a lot before going gluten free (like at least 4 times a week) and it would last all day, sometimes for multiple days, with nothin to ease the pain... -
ARCHIVED Once You Know What Food Problems You Have...

I keep hearing about probiotics. Why is it so good for Celiacs? -
what about vitaligo? it is a skin pigment disorder. michael jackson actually has it. i have it also but not nearly as bad as most. interestingly when i was in 4th grade i woke up one morning in florida on a family vacation and saw weird spots on my knuckles, in between my fingers, my knees, and around my lips. i couldn't notice it until i had tanned...

ARCHIVED Cereal Recommendations?
myserenityprayer replied to katrinamaria's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
ugh....totally agree. the texture, the taste, everything. yuck! If you are looking for a cereal with high protein, more fiber and less sugar than Perky's Nutty Flax is for you. I think its wonderful. I usually have it with a few walnuts and sliced bananas. If you close your eyes its like eating banana nut bread with milk. YUM! 3/4 cup serving... -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Ever Felt "kicked In The Gut?"
myserenityprayer replied to Looking for answers's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I totally know what you're talking about. I used to get that too. Terrible shooting stabbing pains which I thought may have been gas or heartburn, near my left breast. My boyfriend would have to burp me like I was a baby some nights just so I could get some sleep. I would also get a terrible empty bruised pain right below my ribs above my stomach. It... -
ARCHIVED Chic Peas
myserenityprayer replied to myserenityprayer's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
thank you. I can tolerate nuts, so far, I think. Dairy is out for now and I'm starting to get concerned with soy. Some say on here that its "poison" so who knows. -
ARCHIVED Undigested Food
myserenityprayer replied to Corkdarrr's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
This happens to me a lot. Especially after eating salad. Its as if I never even chewed the salad, it comes out exactly how it went it (sorry for the grossness). I just thought that was because it was rough and fiberous, but I guess not. It must be because of malabsortion and I have insulin resistance too. Interesting...I'll try chewing better from now... -
ARCHIVED Moe's Southwestern Grill
myserenityprayer replied to Corkdarrr's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Sure does suck!! Moe's was my absolute favorite! Well until going gluten free anyways. I can't imagine myself eating there now, mainly due to fear of contamination. Fear of contamination should be listed in the DSM as a diagnosable mental illness!!! If you don't suffer from the common fear of contamination like myself, then at least you can eat the chicken... -

ARCHIVED Since Going Gluten Free What Is Better In Your Life?
myserenityprayer replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I can't wait!!! Reading this thread makes me understand why for a short time when I was first diagnosed (about 1 month ago) I was actually excited that I had Celiac. This past week was just awful-depressed, anxious, hopeless. I was so busy being down that I forgot why I was actually relieved when I was diagnosed and that from here on in things can only... -

ARCHIVED Why It's Worth It
myserenityprayer replied to lpellegr's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you so much for your encouragement. i am new here and have been gluten free for almost a month. So far I'm feeling pretty down in the dumps. Between my anxiety about being glutened and my stomach trying heal, I'm a nervous wreck more days than not. But surprisingly, my stomach issues have gotten a TON better in just the one month. I was hoping... -
Just curious... Does anyone have trouble with eating chic peas? I love them and eating them a lot. Im gluten free for about 1 month but still feeling cr@ppy so I am trying figure out what else could be causing it.

ARCHIVED Overweight Celiacs
myserenityprayer replied to plantime's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yoga has changed my life. It not only eases my anxiety but has helped out a lot with my constant backaches and joint pain. I love to adapt the breathing exercises I learn with my videos (I can't afford to take a class but will as soon as I have some extra cash) when I feel super anxious or a panic attack coming on. It really helps alot. Also- if you have... -
ARCHIVED Looking To Try Indian Food, Any Suggestions?
myserenityprayer posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Does anyone have any good Indian chicken dish recipes? I have been dying to try Indian food but I am afraid to go to a restaurant and I am actually not sick of cooking yet. Thanks! -
I recently went to a nutritionist who was very nice but seemed to be more concerned about managing my insulin resistance issues than Celiac. I have done a lot of research (but of course could do some more) on Celiac and diet restrictions and I felt like I knew more than she did. I was wondering if anyone knows of any good Nutritionists on Long Island, preferably...

ARCHIVED It's Not Just The Gluten!
myserenityprayer replied to a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well my Nutritionist told me that there are 2 types of gluten-free diets a person with Celiac can follow: 1- avoiding the obvious stuff like wheat, barley, rye, oats etc. and still eating rice, corn, potatoes etc. 2- avoiding ALL starches and grains including rice, corn and potatoes. She said that some cannot even tolerate the gluten free grains... -
I would say you should totally get tested. And you can be malnourished while not being underweight. My doctor told me after seeing my low protein levels in my blood and iron deficiency he determined malnourishment. I am also overweight, have been forever. As has been for as long as I could remember losing 20lbs. would finally get me into the normal weight...

ARCHIVED Hypoglycemia - Need Fresh Advice
myserenityprayer replied to VydorScope's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I actually just recently went to a medical nutrition therapist (without all the mumbo jumbo- a dietition) who told me that I can NEVER eat any kind of starch (fruit, sugar, potato, gluten-free bread/crackers, rice etc.) again unless i have it with some sort of a protein. She also said that I need to eat at least 6 times a day and during each meal have a... -
ARCHIVED Could I Be Casein And/or Soy Intolerant Too ?
myserenityprayer replied to myserenityprayer's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
yes, I am a nervous wreck! But thank you. Your words of advice helped me yesterday too. I know I need to just calm down. I think I will try to stick with light foods for the time being. And I have always tried to eat as little processed non-organic foods in the past. And I thought I was so healthy!! Little did I know I was actually terribly malnurished... -
ARCHIVED Could I Be Casein And/or Soy Intolerant Too ?
myserenityprayer posted a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I posted this in another section and then realized there was a thread already for other food intolerances. And within the 5 minutes of originally posting I have also learned that the villi are damaged the same way with casein and soy and due to that, biopsy results for celiac may be inclusive. what the heck??? Okay so I know I'm probably just being... -
ARCHIVED For Those With Other Food Allergies And Interolences
myserenityprayer replied to myserenityprayer's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Oh gosh. So do you think I should get the Enterolab tests? And which tests would you recommend? I was diagnosed with celiac as a result of positive blood work and then to cofirm the diagnosis a positive biopsy. How do I get tested for the celiac disease gene? And what else don't I know that I should!!! ***sigh*** -
ARCHIVED For Those With Other Food Allergies And Interolences
myserenityprayer posted a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Okay so I know I'm probably just being crazy but... I'm debating getting the enterolab tests for casein, yeast, soy, etc. intolerances. I have been gluten free (i think and hope!!) for about 1 month and I still feel awful. Yesterday I thought my problems had to be because of all the cheese I had been eating. I went to a "medical nutrition therapist... -
ARCHIVED So What Do You Do When You Can't Sleep?
myserenityprayer replied to megsylvan2's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My insomnia has been pretty bad lately. I have always had good and bad weeks even before I knew about Celiac and went gluten free. I have only been gluten free (to the best of my knowledge, considering I still feel pretty awful) for almost one month and my insomnia is probably the worst it has ever been. Between my anxiety and depression, getting a real... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab
myserenityprayer replied to myserenityprayer's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I had a feeling I would have to give up dairy for awhile, and soy cheese is just nasty. It's just so discouraging to still feel sick when you think you are finally being healthy and on your way to feeling good. I guess I will try to go dairy free for as long as I can bare it and see how that goes. Thanks alot, it's helpful to see that there are so many...
