  1. I suspect with me- because I have had little to no dental work - that what happened in the long run was that my sr year in college (1989) I went through a horrible break-up that started with a car accident! That summer I lived on Cape Cod and wasn't taking very good care of myself (drinking a lot, very bummed out). The Cape is notorious for Lyme and when...
  2. Ain't that the truth-  Speaking of..... A lawyer purchased a box of very rare and expensive cigars, then insured them against, among other things, fire. Within a month, having smoked his entire stockpile of these great cigars and without yet having made even his first premium payment on the policy the lawyer filed a...
  3. It's been so interesting to read about unresolved issues and how they effect the immune sysstem. I can't believe what you have been through Donna. And everyone- Rachel- a breakup is still a MAJOR loss so it makes sense. I've been thinking a lot about what happened to me and the order in which it happened. I moved back here in August 2002. By December we...
  4. Pooping in to say hello! Well- the korea decision was made for me. I'm herxing again and would NOT want to be in a hotel and definitely not a foreign country. I think last week could have been from the plaquenil (or the heat) because this is the herx I was expecting. Yuck-a dookie! HERXATION HIDEOUSNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. YUMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!! I am a blueberry fanatic- blueberry pancakes, blueberry muffins, blueberry beer (have yet to find a gluten-free one) and had ribs up in Maine that were done with Sweet baby Ray's BBQ sauce mixed with blueberries- to die for. Goosey- Must eat bacon wrapped shrimp, scallops and bacon wrapped bacon. BACON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. they're yummy and I am SUPER sensitive and don't react- just read the label to be sure 9as always). Ummmm BBQ Chicken!
  7. Just got invited to teach over there for 2 weeks in August and am wondering how easy (or hard) it is to eat gluten-free. I will be staying in a hotel with a friend and hosted by Koreans who are fluent in English. I am seriously considering it (it would be a definite YES! if I wasn't dealing with Lyme too) but wanted to check out the eating. I'm not a...
  8. One thing I DO want to say is Lisa........ You ARE gonna make it. There have been days I think when many of us thought this and we are still here. You WILL get well.....I just know it. Do what you need to do, listen to your body and talk to us. There's always an open ear in Rachelville and a shoulder to lean on when the going gets tough.
  9. I need to go back and catch-up but....I need the citizens of Rachelville to come to order. I have a big conundrum and I need y'all to weigh in on this. I got a phone call from my friend who works at Stanford and is going to teach writing to middle school students in Seoul, Korea for 2 weeks in August. She and I used to teach together in CA. The other person...

  11. You and I sound a lot alike. I've been on Clarithromycin for almost a month and plaquenil for almost 2 weeks and I feel like I am getting better too. Which surprises me because Ii figured it was going to be at least three months of feeling like rubbish before I saw any improvement. With the exception of HERXATION HIDEOUSNESS last week, I am definitely starting...

  15. Just wanted to   in! Weird coincidence: Today June 28 is the 4 year anniversary of the day I think I contracted Lyme (looking at an old document I wrote up for my PCP in jan 2004). Thos evil buggers are back to celebrate their anniversary. Not this time baby- YOU are getting slayed  Die bacteria die!
  16. No storms AND I lied- it's DEFINITELY a herx. Sneaky, cheeky Lymie bacterias. Blech! Die bacteria die!
  17. This is very interesting. I've been thinking a lot about this lately. My gluten-intolerance started about a year after when I think I contracted Lyme. It was so complicated though because my mom had just died in 2003 (the summer I got bit) and I was pretty fatigued. I thought it was grief (a lot of it was). I had definitely become lactose intolerant right...
  18. Sorry about the 5+5 confusion. I rate my days on a scale of 1-10 (yes- I do recall Andrea saying a 0 was DEAD  and Tuesday was a 10! I felt HUMAN! 19. OMG- if you knew our female cat Frisca you would die. If we have to 'amke" her do anything, we have to ambush her with a big towel....otherwise she will shred you!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Thanks everyone! yeah- the tap water thing freaked me out. I drink it but through a Brita filter (not that's great either). I would never drink straight tap water anywhere! I boil it for iced tea etc but I don't know how much that helps. It's sad when you can't even trust water- the most essential thing to life. Oh-my LLMD is a guy...

  22. Tom- It's NOt crazy to talk about a virtual town because (most) real towns don't have the love, support and understanding that rachelville does! Now go have FUN! I mean really-what town can you talk about alternative uses for coffee? I just told my sister about the coffee and she LHAO. We were dying (I was exaplining the "mishap"). She told me I really...
  23. Lisa- I was thinking about this last night. Not sure but if you're having such stomach problems right now you could consider eating baby food...I'm thinking about getting some for my next herx because you NEED to eat but baby food would be easier to digest and have nutrients you need. Has anyone tried this? rachel- Those posts weren't scary- they were...
