Everything posted by Noel1965

  1. Thank you all for the info and encouragement. I guess I just needed a little support today and you gave it to me - so THANK YOU!!
  2. Jay, Bill and Courtney - Thank you for your input....... I think the next step is to start eliminating other foods. If I could only have 1 good day and feel better for even 24 hours then I would have the strength to continue doing this diet. Some of you have said that it is not willpower that helps you keep gluten free (as well as dairy, etc.) but the not...
  3. Hi Dennymel - I would get checked for Celiac - it sounds very possible. What caught my interest is you say your face hurts? I have the same thing - thought it was a side effect from antidepressants but maybe not? Very interesting......hope you feel better soon!
  4. Hi Cassidy - I am dedicated to being gluten free. And I know of all the possible consequences if I do quit the diet. But is the diet doing any good if I can't seem to find all the sources of cross contamination? Is being rid of 99% of the gluten helping me as far as the possible consequences. My doctor had said NO. That all gluten must be gone in order...
  5. Carla - Thank you for your time....where do you get almond milk and this Van's powder. I have never heard of either of them....I am in Alberta Canada
  6. Carla - thank you - you made me laugh! I know I should kiss my husband, it just seems so "sdkjlsfdjk" to have to send him to brush his teeth before a kiss. I am going to try to take out a few more things out of my diet but I do not know where you all get so much willpower. You are all to be commended!!! Your idea of the casein is good - International...
  7. Hi Courtney - I know it is EVERYWHERE! And that's why I feel like it is not even possible to do. I guess I have seen that some of you on here HAVE made it so it is not entirely impossible but that's how I'm feeling right now. Yes I have checked all my personal care products including lipstick. My symptoms include GI problems (feels like a baby kicking...
  8. Ok all - I check my ingredients very carefully and I have not knowingly eaten anything with gluten for 9 months and I do not feel one iota better than I did before. I know it must be cross contamination and I try my best to avoid it......I very very rarely eat out anymore - maybe 3-4 times in 9 months (and ate salad with no dressing when I did). Hate to...
  9. Thanks for the info Nini. Psawyer it appears from reading the ingredients that the Campbells broths are safe but I was sure I read somewhere that they were not. Therefore I have used them. I'm from a small town and that's the only broth on the shelf. It sure would be easier to use what is readily available. I meant that I had NOT used them....
  10. Hi All - I think I may have read somewhere before that chicken/beef broths have gluten. Yet I read so many of your recipes, etc that call for a can of broth. Does anyone know for certain if Campbell's chicken and/or beef broth are gluten free? Thank you......Noel
  11. Thanks for your input Chrissy.....I do not know what a PPI is though. Help?
  12. Hi Amanda - I have loose stools continuously but worse just before and starting period. It has been that way for a few years even when I did not have D. every day. Not sure the reasoning but you are not alone...Noel
  13. Norah and Claire - Thank you both for your input. Acid reflux huh.....I was prescribed pantoloc (sp?) and I don't really know what it is for except that it is related to stomach problems...therefore have not taken it yet.....hate taking medications. Perhaps I should do a little research on it....thank you for your time.
  14. Does anyone have any info on a celiac disease convention in Calgary? Thanks!
  15. Hi all - Wondering if heavniess in breathing can be related to celiac disease? It happens sporadically and is not related to exercise. I can be sitting reading the paper and I can start breathing like I just ran a marathon. My doctor thinks it is just related to anxiety (which I do suffer from) but it is happening without the other symptoms of anxiety...
  16. Rusla - I did not know about it. I am in Edmonton but I will make the trip if I am able to. Do you have any details to pass on to me - ie times, location, agenda. Thanks Rusla.......Noel
  17. Thanks for the hugs mouse.....unfortunately I am still needing them. So based on the responses so far it does look like there could be a connection. It just angers me so much if celiac disease was what my son had to start and the doctors missed it and the death of my son and the pain for all of us could have been avoided! Sorry for ranting just so much...
  18. Hi Bumblebby - I don't know if what I will have to say will help you but you sure have me questioning a link between celiac and UC as well. When my son was born in 1993 he cried constantly and his doctor said it was colic. As time went by (weeks) he continued to cry nonstop and could not keep his formula down. A few tests were done but did not get a diagnosis...
  19. Thanks for the help Cassidy. I shall get myself my own dishes/pots&pans - can't hurt. And yes I do get corn nearly everyday through popcorn or tortilla chips. I have considered trying no corn but it seems like such a big loss to add to what we have already given up......willpower willpower - I need more of it!
  20. Sorry you had this bad experience at Red Lobster. I can never tell if I got gluten in a restaurant or not as I am ALWAYS sick. So I just stopped eating out period. What a bummer! And I hear you Sissy (about being afraid to eat) - the voices in my head drive me crazy -' just don't eat today'- back to 'why bother with this glutenfree stuff -I am not feeling...
  21. Hi All - Today is my first day on this site and I now realize that I have much more to learn about living with celiac disease. I use the same dishes as my family (clean ones of course!). Do you have your own sets of dishes, pots/pans, cutlery, etc. that are only for your use?
  22. Thanks for the suggestions Rusla. I see you are from Calgary. I live just south of Edmonton. Anyway, I'm not worried about getting gluttenated at work but it is more difficult at home. Do you have your own set of pots and pans that are used only for glutenfree foods? Washing does not suffice? I don't know where this line is - it seems crazy!
  23. Thank you all for the advice. I think that I have eliminated all gluten but I do not KNOW that. Do you think that you need different pots and pans (clean ones used by others are not okay?)? I have checked out all my cosmetics etc and try to be careful in washing my hands. I no longer eat in restaurants (what a bummer - used to eat out 4-5x's/week). But...
  24. Thanks for the post - Kinnickinck is one of the few glutenfree stores in my area! I will have to go shopping and pick up some brownies!!!
  25. Hi everyone!! This is my first post and I am still trying to find my way around on this site. I have so many questions - where do I start. I was diagnosed with celiac disease about 9 months ago and have been glutenfree since (as far as I know). However I do not feel any better. I have read many of your posts and it appears that many of you can tell when...
