  1. I totally appreciate all of the responses. As a newbie I feel a responsibility to share the burden of repeated questions. I hope you don't burn yourself out trying to help everyone. When you feel like your repeating yourself, take a break, with so many wonderful people here, I or someone else will pick up the slack. I appreciate the referral to...
  2. Changing your diet is hard for everyone. Doing it and feeling like it is not helping makes it worse. I agree about charting everything. Sometimes charts can give you the direction you need to find the right combination or define a culprit. My sister's husband as resistant for many years. Same thing we'd all bend over backwards to support him and he...
  3. I'll try to put this in perspective. It is just that this place seemed to be the one place I could speak without criticism. Seems like whenever I seek help, the responses are negative." You are making a mountain out of a mole hill. Everyone deals with that problem. Buck up and cope. Stop exaggerating. If you really are following the diet you wouldn't have...
  4. This thread made me cry. I am a newbie. I felt so welcome before this string made it seem like dinosaurs are annoyed by newbies. I'll keep my mouth shut from now on. This shook my confidence. I no longer feel free to ask for fear I should have found the answer in the archives and will irritate a dinosaur. And I feel like I shouldn't comment...
  5. I am a newbie. Thanks to everyone for helping me. This site is fantastic. Just not having to do this alone is very helpful. I admit I have not searched the archives but will do that before I ask anymore questions. Thanks for the gentle kick.
  6. I need to know how you all happened to get tested for Lyme's disease. Thanks something I've never considered. I too have a growing number of intolerances and am down to a few precious foods. The list gets smaller every couple months. I see a guy in integrative medicine. He says enzymes are necessary to help me heal. Have any of you tried this approach...
  7. I am so tired of doctors acting like this is my fault. I too keep eliminating one thing after another. Even when I shared with a smile I suspected corn, my doctor said, no way, get real, you have to eat something. Well yeah but I would like to know that what I am eating is not making me sick. I called the hospital that diagnosed me. I was soo nice....
  8. Family doctor should check thyroid. I wonder about the hormone testing too. I found out that even when I was treated for thyroid disease the medication was blocked by a problem with iodine. For 20 years my panel was up and down. Once I cut out iodine the meds worked and my levels are steady. Almost immediate effects.
  9. I am amazed everyone seems to get glutened and realize a reaction. I don't know that I have been glutened by mistake since I as diagnosed. Since being diagnosed I have felt worse, not better. I don't vomit as much, and the skin seems to be slowly improving but on the flip side I now have headaches fevers, sluggishness, mindfog, memory loss, a mass...
  10. Wow corn binds salt. I have a lot to learn, thanks for the site.
  11. Me too. I almost forgot that a bunch of the skin rashes cleared up when I eliminated soaps, lotions and cosmetics. The only thing I use now are baby oil, pantene/sauve shampoo a couple times a week, and dishwashing detergent. I had 10 potato chips Sat. Sunday night I was covered with ???...mosquito bites? I have not been outside in over a week so it must...
  12. I am still unraveling my mystery. Before I was celiac I became vegetarian. 25 years ago. I eliminated eggs, (except in bake goods and noodles) about 15 years ago. I was diagnosed celiac 5 years ago. Stopped gluten. I got really sick for 2 years. I ended up not being able to keep anything down. That made the elimination thing easier. I began with white...
  13. Welcome. I joined last Monday. I hope someone can give you pointers on the skin. My sister and my mom and I all have celiac and a variety of skin problems. Dermatologists can help but we usually got some type of cream. Cortisone, Meto creme, triamicinolone is working for me now. I have more than white bumps. About food sensitivity. I am still unraveling...
  14. I've only used the tapioca bread? I think it tasted like eggs. I have some trouble with eggs but I still use it occassionally but even whenI make it I rarely eat a whole slice. Maybe I should trust my senses, stay clear of this product. My mom makes a great french bread and pizza crust gluten free and potato free. Potato makes me itch.
  15. I wore a wedding dress, or a brides maid.
  16. Thanks for the site. And good luck to you!
  17. Thanks, I will get the book. I think that blood sugar is causing some of the problems. 2 days balancing protien& fat/ carbs and no real fevers, slight temp changes only I decided to take the l-glutamine on a very empty stomach. Nothing 2 hours before or after....it worked no pain I even ate a real meal for dinner, I've only been able to graze...
  18. Thanks for commenting. I get this, I am from a diabetic family. I don't eat "starch" from the old diabetic lists. I am vegetarian, I have some trouble with dairy. I suspect soy/corn is also a problem too. My problem is what protien, what fats. Where do they fall on the glycemic index. Do you have a good table of things we eat. Many are loaded...
  19. I am like you. Only you are lucky to have found out before the effects were too bad. Go 100% gluten-free now. I think I had it 25 years, diagnosed 5 years ago when I was only sort of sick. Since the diagnosis 5 years ago I am very sick. It was hard because I was better with it than without. Once I ate vegetarian chicken nuggets just to see if pure...
  20. Oh my lightening what do you mean?
  21. Thank you for being so specific with the Amitriptyline. I can't take over the counter. Hydocodone has no effect. So at least I have some direction. Thanks! I am very skeptical about taking persciptions, becuase I am often asked to take drugs that mask problems. That's why it took 30 years to be diagnosised celiac disease.
  22. Helena my heart goes out to you. I recently tried oats after 5 years gluten-free. Not sure yet if oats are okay. I really understand the situation with your sister. This IS hereditary. I have 3 nephews. One has had some skin tests that are pointing toward celiac disease. The other 2 have (like I did in my 20's) other stuff that "could be attributed to...
  23. I started with Flaxseed oil, yesterday added l-glutamine and floragen 3 probiotic. Terrible stomac pain today. Wondering what to do?

    ARCHIVED Liver Biopsy

My husband has done this twice. I go with him because he is realy out of it afterwards. He does not remember anything. Afterwards he has a tiny wound that healled quickly. I actually laughed until my sides hurt waiting in recovery. Farts coming from everywhere. Recovery was with all kinds of folks who had another procedure that forces air into them. In...
  25. Going gluten-free has stabalized my weight too. Now instead of dramatic changes they are gradual and I can focus on calories to keep it in check. Before gluten-free high calories had no effect. 5'6" 112 lbs goal 125
