I have a very old Pampered Chef large square pizza stone that I used to make cookies several years before I found out I was gluten intolerant. I know I will hate to hear the answer but.......here it goes. Do I have to replace it or is there a way to clean it off? I wasn't sure if the wheat flour from the cookie dough will soak into it or not. I love that...

ARCHIVED Low Carb And Gluten Free Chocolate Desert
wildkat replied to wildkat's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thank you for giving me more ideas. I tried the flourless cake and frosted it with chocolate whipped cream. Then I cut strawberries into heart shapes for the top. Man was that good. A big hit with my low carb man. I'm going to try the other two this weekend. -
ARCHIVED Low Carb And Gluten Free Chocolate Desert
wildkat posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I am stuck. My husband has to do the low carb, sugar free diet because of diabetes in is family and he gains weight just by looking at food. And I have to do gluten free in order to keep my weight on and my skin clear from the horrible rash from gluten. Any ideas for a valentines day desert? Especially one that is chocolate. I am a scratch baker and... -
ARCHIVED Red Bridge Beer
wildkat replied to francelajoie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I haven't seen any of the other beers mentioned here but everyone is right. To me it tastes like a Fat Tire when I thought I was able to drink anything but preferred a little better quality. It has that micro-brewery taste...a good flavor. I used to make pale ale and a few others. I wonder if they have a gluten-free beer kit to make? -
ARCHIVED Probiotics
wildkat replied to Trillian's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I take one a day with the propriatary blend of 1 billion CFU per capsule the first thing in the morning before I exercise on the bowflex machine (about 20 to 30 minutes before I eat). They tell you to take them with or without food. It depends on how your stomach feels about taking things before you have some food in it. If I've been around to much wheat... -
ARCHIVED Help! Seriously Dry Skin
wildkat replied to loco-ladi's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If you are not allergic to coconut oil it works pretty good. If you can find the food grade type, you can use it for cooking as well as for the body and hair (use sparingly on hair). It does have excellent health benefits. The Walmart near me just started stocking it. If you take vitamin E that will help a little for the dry skin problem. -
ARCHIVED Probiotics
wildkat replied to Trillian's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I subscribe to the free newsletter of Women to Women and there is an interesting article on probiotics if you would like to read up a little. Open Original Shared Link -
I would try the combination of rice, potato, tapioca, and maybe a little bean flour. I don't like using alot of bean flour because to me it tastes ....well.....green tasting. The common Bette Hagman flour is a combination of 1-1/2 c rice flour, 1/2 c potato starch flour, 1/4 c tapioca flour. I use this combination when I make my english muffins which I...

ARCHIVED Probiotics
wildkat replied to Trillian's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Just last week I was checking into probiotics and I read that you needed to take either FOS or inulin with it to make sure the benefitial bacteria's make it to where they need to go because the acids in the gut will kill off alot of them. They say inulin is easier on you than FOS. However if you take too much inulin you will have diarrhea. They also say... -
ARCHIVED Kraft Original Barbecue Sauce
wildkat replied to wowzer's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Even though I follow alot of the threads on this forum I still call the companies. Kraft was very good to deal with. They told me they do put a allergy alert on the label if something contains gluten, soy, milk, fish, or nuts (I think that about covers it.) They also sent me a bunch of coupons for the things I inquired about. Might have been because I... -
ARCHIVED How Do You Make Gluten Free Oats Not-so-chewy?
wildkat replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Now that is funny...but very true. I use the McCann's steel cut Irish Oatmeal and it said to cook for 30 minutes. The first time I made them for me and my husband. I chewed into them after he had half of his eaten and thought the same as you. When I looked at him he graciously said "I like them a little chewy. This is really good." Next time I made... -
I don't want to feel that bad again. I have been to two different doctors that told me I have to eat wheat for two weeks so I could be tested. I'm sure they don't believe me. One told me if I couldn't take the pills for IBS I could find a new doctor. The second one gave me gallbladder tests and wanted to put me on antidepressants. Those made me really...

I have never been tested for gluten intolerance but have done major research about it. My husband suggested going gluten free as a last resort after I had been on thyroid tablets from age 14 thru 35. I still had major diarrhea and went thru the diagnosis of IBS. Not to sound bad but I could see exactly what I ate. The pills made me sick and didn't help...

ARCHIVED How To Get Rid Of Gluten In My House
wildkat replied to kara7's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My hubby does the low carb so I also can not have a completely gluten free house. It was a problem at first. I spent years of research trying to figure out how I kept getting gluten into my system when I knew exactly what I was eating (fresh veggies, chicken, rice, potatoes -nothing I didn't prepare myself). Kind of like the caveman diet. I finally... -
ARCHIVED What Do You Put In Rice To Make It Taste Good?
wildkat replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I'm with Michelle on the raisins. Just almond milk and sugar. It does taste pretty good with chocolate almond milk. MMMMM chocolate! Kathy -
ARCHIVED Gurgling Stomach
wildkat replied to Kristen2Denise's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi K2D, After having bad reactions to prescription and over the counter medicines, I now believe in natural ways. I've found a little warm beverage at the end of each meal helps in digestion. It keeps any oils and stuff from getting hard or sludgey before they have a chance to go thru the intestines. It kind of helps things to keep right on moving... -
ARCHIVED Confused And Disouraged!
wildkat replied to hannahsue01's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It is discouraging. I felt like that too for a long time. I was sent to a psycologist to because my old doctor believed my whole problem with the loose stools, hives, poor weight, infertility, and skin rashes were because of being anorexic. (I love food - I wasn't anorexic.) I was threatened several times to being sent to the hospital if more weight dropped... -
ARCHIVED Snickers...
wildkat replied to chgomom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This doesn't make me feel to good either. Not with the "candy season" upon us. I was going to ask about Mounds/Almond Joys but I decided to call the 800 number. They tell me the carmel color is burnt sugar and the natural flavor is not gluten (wheat, oat, barley, rye,....). She asked me before she answered if I was Celiac. (They must get alot of calls... -
Thank you, I will try that. You know, your previous problems sound just like mine. Did your Dr.'s try to convince you that you were anorexic and that your only problem was that you just needed to eat? All of the ones I have gone to keep saying that.

ARCHIVED So Many Newbies Have Joined Us
wildkat replied to Lisa's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi, I am 5'2" at 95 lbs, 49 yrs. old and going thru the change (just naturally no pills). I can eat up a storm but it goes right thru. I've gone to Doctors who have put me on thyroid tablets for 10 years without results, and pills for IBS and acid reflux pills - all without results. I was even sent to a psychologist who said he didn't see any problem... -
I just wish I could get to anything other then the "right now" very watery kind. Floaters not sinkers! (not to be gross) I haven't had anything solid for years. At one time I could tell exactly what I ate because it was right there (just about whole in the toilet). I think I even made my cats hold their noses while escaping into another room! I am new...

wildkat replied to Lisa's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi all, I also am very new. Since last night to be exact. I have been reading some of the posts and hope to find some help before my weight lands me in the hospital again. Keep up the posting. For some of us it seams like a last resort. Thank you.
