Help I’m cross contaminating myself,
Rogol72 replied to klmgarland's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I cut out the rice because it was affecting my stomach at the time ... not necessarily dermatitis herpetiformis. It was Tilda Basmati Rice, sometimes wholegrain rice. I was willing to do whatever it took to heal. Too much fiber also disagrees with me as I have UC. -
Help I’m cross contaminating myself,
Rogol72 replied to klmgarland's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
@klmgarland, My dermatitis herpetiformis didn't clear up until I became meticulous about cross contamination. I cut out gluten-free oats and all gluten-free foods, dairy and gluten-free rice. Additionally, getting the right amount of protein for my body weight helped significantly in my body's healing process ... along with supplementing with enough... -
Ibuprofen
Rogol72 replied to Colleen H's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Some interesting articles regarding the use of Zinc Carnosine to help heal gastric ulcers, gastritis and intestinal permeability. I would consult a medical professional about it's use. https://www.nature.com/articles/ncpgasthep0778 https://www.rupahealth.com/post/clinical-applications-of-zinc-carnosine---evidence-review https://pmc.ncbi.nlm... -

I also take Paracetamol. I haven't taken an NSAID in years since being diagnosed with UC. The can cause UC flares. -
Folks, Does anyone know statistically, how common Thyroid issues occur in Coeliacs? Hypothyroidism, subclinical hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's. Thanks in advance.

Draft gluten-free ciders… can they be trusted ?
Rogol72 replied to Rejoicephd's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
A friend of mine is in the bar trade most of his life and has never heard of lines being mixed for different type of beers and ciders. Better to stick with cans. -
Draft gluten-free ciders… can they be trusted ?
Rogol72 replied to Rejoicephd's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I've never had an issue this side of the pond. If I'm out I drink Bulmers Cider. Sometimes draft and sometimes bottled. The draft cider lines are for Cider only. -
Could this be a new intolerance
Rogol72 replied to Celiacpartner's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
@Celiacpartner, I agree with Scott. We have a food festival yearly in the town I live in, with artisan food stalls everywhere. I spoke to the owner of one of the artisan burger stalls, enquiring if the burgers were gluten-free when I said I was Coeliac ... he said he had a serious anaphylactic allergy to fish himself. He possibly carries an epi-pen or... -
I can confirm this. I no longer have any issues with Iodine since being strictly gluten and dairy free.

Purposefully Glutening Myself?
Rogol72 replied to annamarie6655's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hey @annamarie6655, I think we've all glutened ourselves during the learning process of what it takes to be truly gluten free. Don't be hard on yourself. You're not glutening yourself purposefully ... it takes time to figure it all out. You should stand up for yourself and advocate for yourself at all times. The family dynamic can be very difficult... -
Probably the best Helminthic Therapy video I've seen

I'm afraid not. Try the Atly app free trial ... or blog posts by gluten free travellers. -
Probably the best Helminthic Therapy video I've seen
Rogol72 commented on dixonpete's blog entry in Pete Dixon
@Theresa C, I was in Italy last year for a family wedding. There were several Coeliac's on the guest list including myself. Never had any issues both days and the second day was a pizza party. The gluten-free pizza was excellent. Italy is one of the best countries in Europe for Coeliacs. The Coeliac Society of Italy have regional offices and branches... -
Medicinal mushrooms 🍄
Rogol72 replied to Liquid lunch's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Wow! I'd be interested to know where you get the tinctures. You can DM me if you wish. There's a Spanish company ... hifasdaterra ... who make high quality medicinal mushrooms in capsule form. -
How to navigate living with dermatitis herpetiformis
Rogol72 replied to Morgan Tiernan's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
We've got plenty Tiernan's over here across the Irish Sea! I think anything will irritate an open wound in the skin. My dermatologist suggested Aveno moisturiser and E45 Emollient shower cream when she thought it was Eczema. I'm sure they will help during a dermatitis herpetiformis outbreak, or be the least irritating. Rinsing off after exercise should...- 9 replies

How to navigate living with dermatitis herpetiformis
Rogol72 replied to Morgan Tiernan's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Hey @Morgan Tiernan, Sounds just like my experience. I was diagnosed with dermatitis herpetiformis over 10 years ago. It appeared suddenly as a very itchy rash which looked like Eczema. When a steroid cream didn't clear it up, my Dermatologist (who had come across it before) suspected dermatitis herpetiformis and performed a skin biopsy which came back...- 9 replies

dermatitis herpetiformis with all grains
Rogol72 replied to Richardo's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
@Richardo, I'm in the same boat as you! I can't handle certified gluten free oats at all. Quinoa is the worst, even when I soak it in water and then wash under the tap for 10 minutes ... I have a reaction. It must be an immune system reaction to the proteins in these gluten-free grains. -
New Guy Here...
Rogol72 replied to TerryinCO's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree. PPI use long term is concerning. I believe a combination of PPI use along with a history of antibiotics for colds and sore throats led me to develop CDiff and Ulcerative Colitis shortly after a minor knee op. Lowering inflammation and bloating through diet can significantly help getting off PPIs in my experience. -
@sillyyak52, If it makes you feel any better, I have a sibling who thinks the dinner table (at fine dining restaurants, and less formal pub grub settings etc.) is a personal buffet table and dips into the food of whoever is sitting beside or opposite to them just to get a taste (no plate is safe!) ... never asks for permission ... and has no consideration...

Hi @trents, You're correct. The OP mentioned fatigue and vitamin deficiencies as the only symptoms at the time of diagnosis. Since the family are not taking him/her seriously and find them to be too fussy, I suggested showing them pictures of dermatitis herpetiformis as one of the consequences of not taking the gluten-free diet seriously ... would make...
-
Hi @sillyyak52, I empathize with you. I would suggest showing them pictures of "dermatitis herpetiformis" which is a complication of undiagnosed/untreated Coeliac Disease. You can find them on Google images. It's pretty alarming to see and it may be the wake up call they need to visually understand what gluten can really do to the body. In this case...

I've been to Italy recently for a wedding and it was excellent. I made my own gluten-free sandwiches/pannini to take on the flights. Spain is good and you can get good gluten-free breads in the supermarkets there. The UK and Ireland are very good also. Australia would be good since Coeliac Disease is fairly common there ...1 in 70 as opposed to 1 in...

Hey @itarachiu, Have you investigated any other Biofilm disruptor other than NAC? -
Nausea and fatigue almost all day
Rogol72 replied to itarachiu's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thanks @itarachiu, much appreciated. Great news that you finally got to the root cause of your SIBO/SIFO and the protocol is working. Are you using any liver support while taking the herbal antimicrobials? I suspect that I have a mild case of SIBO or SIFO/Candida as I get bloated after meals, especially after starchy carbohydrates ... in addition to histamine... -

Hey @itarachiu, I'm interested to know what herbs you plan on taking to address SIBO / SIFO if you don't mind sharing that info. -
