  1. Hey tarnalberry, I am from N wa and am moving S. I have been to Davinies but not the others. Could you tell me where they are? Are they little cafe's like Davincies? Thanks!
  2. I have the Clan Thompson. I love it. I don't like gluten guard. I looked up several things on there that are gluten free and it said they were NOT gluten free. Clan Thompson gives you the date it was checked and the company's phone number. It also gives you comments like processed in a facility that also manufactures wheat, etc. It's a pretty handy little...
  3. Our costco had the cereal but doesn't have it anymore. I buy velveeta cheese, canned fruit, fresh fruit, applesauce, mission tortilla chips, fresh meat, refried beans, salsa, parmesean cheese, reg cheese, milk, swiss miss hot coco, juice, corn tortillas etc. They have a salsa in the fresh dips section that says gluten free on the package, and my fav, they...
  4. I don't have it but am planning on buying it next month. I love how they tell you the date it was verified and the exceptions like possible cc and then give you the number so you can call yourself. You can also make a shopping list on there. So handy!
  5. [Hi, my youngest dd had seizures also and reflux. She had to be on alimentum until she was almost 2 years old. It smells really bad, but she would drink it and not scream in pain and projectile vomit across the room. The seizures stopped after she had been on it for awhile, she was also on phenobarbitol at the same time.
  6. Thanks everyone! The site my nutritionist gave me was www.glutenfreedrugs.com Thanks a bunch for that information! I didn't have that link yet. I am about halfway thru the book and find it very informative. Before I was diagnosed I knew of celiac disease but didn't know anything about it. Now, it seems like information is everywhere...
  7. Thanks for clearing that up for me. Intolerant does sound like something you can have like the lactose thing. Maybe my friends have an allergy? Who knows! You are right, "I am gluten-fretful" just doesn't sound right! Ha! I didn't see that they never sent you info, that was rotten of them, regardless of their bad day or whatnot.
  8. I just ordered this book. Celiac Disease, a hidden epidemic. Does anyone have good or bad experience with it? I was diagnosed with celiac disease in october of this year via blood test and biopsy. My poor little villi were all flat as a pancake. I have been sick for years. Diagnosed with graves disease in 1997. One dr tried to tell me it was all in my head...
  9. I am in wa too. I love DaVincies, they have the best bundt cake ever!
  10. Same here. He sent me a letter that states I have celiac in case I need it for traveling or something and he called me a few times and told me to follow up with my reg dr. She tested my iron and vit d and stuff and told me to take perscrip iron and come back for a blood test in 3 mos.
  11. wow! I can't believe they are the founding Dr's of your local Raising Our Celiac Kids Chapter! You would think they would know better. Since soooo many people have celiac, what is it, one in 133 or something? They should just tell everyone to be gluten-free and everyone would feel much better and the world would be a much yummier place for us! lol
  12. I do believe people can diagnose allergies and intolerances on their own. I mean, what is the elimination diet so many dr's perscribe for? They don't know what is wrong so they say try this and if it makes you feel bad then don't eat it. I think the reason I tell folks to try to get a diagnosis is because I am a newly diagnosed celiac, and all these other...
  13. I am so sorry. Definately stay on the gluten-free diet while preg!!! If you decide you want to try for a diagnosis after the pregnancy then go for it but right now you gotta stay on it. It's not worth the risk. I am sorry your family is being unsupportive. I think it is hard for people tounderstand and since gluten is so prevalant in our society it is linked...
  14. What wonderful coworkers you have!!!! Have a wonderful birthday!
  15. I don't understand this! My ds has been tested twice for celiac, the first time noone in the family had been diagnosed with it at all. The second time I had been diagnosed and a cousin also. I can't believe that dr!
  16. Hi new here and thought i would chime in. I am a biopsy diagnosed celiac. When someone tells me they think they are celiac but have not been diagnosed I always tell them they should try to get diagnosed before they go on the gluten-free diet. The reason I give them is because there are so many other health issues someone with celiac has to look out for....
