  1. LOL! Poor little girlie!! I would put that dumb ol' hot dog in time out too!
  2. I would call the hosp or her dr's hotline and ask them if it was a side effect of the meds or anything to worry about. Poor Alex! She is really going thru the ringer right now!
  3. I have one. My nutritionist told me it was a good idea. She said it will help with airplanes etc. I also have graves disease which is on there and my allergies to pennicillin and sulfa drugs. Ursa, I have a really cute one I got at creativemedicalid.com they have lots of styles, a bit pricey though!
  4. It will be ok. My dr told me recently my vit d level was non existant and has me on 1,250 IU's a day. I think lots of us have extreemly low vit d. I have had the diziness and bone pain etc too. I have to say it is starting to get better since I have been taking my vit d. Fortunately, our bodies are reseliant and able to correct the deficiancies with proper...
  5. I am! My vit d level was nothing 2 months ago. My dr put me on Highland Labratories Effervescent Cal-Mag. It has 400 IU's of vit d, 600mg cal, 300mg magnesium and a few other things. She is having me take it twice a day, along with my daily vit which has 350 IU's of vit d. She said because it is a liquid and bubbly, it is absorbed better than a pill.
  6. I crave sugar, but I crave salt worse! Every day around 2 I crave sugar, I think it is for a pick me up. I could eat a whole pack of starburst, and often do. Yesterday I tried dark chocolate instead, I could only eat a little bit but it fixed my sugar craving and was less calories. I think my sugar craving also has to do with feeling deprived. I am trying...
  7. Thanks gfpaperdoll, that is very interresting. I am still going to keep a food diary just in case.
  8. Ooooh Tarnalberry, I didn't know they made a raspberry too!! I am all over that! And the one with crispy rice sounds good too. Hathor, that link looks like the best kind of trouble! My son and I have been drooling over all the internet chocolate while eating our new chocolate (although, I am not sharing mine, he has to eat the trader joes milk chocolate...
  9. Ok, so I have started a topic on chocolate so as not to be hijacking the gluten thread. I am a new person in the world of chocolate and need all the wonderful advice of what chocolates are divine and what ones suck. Today I tried Dagoba 59% and it was tasty, but then I tried Endangered Species Dark Chocolate deep forest mint 70% and that was so divine! I...
  10. Oh Larry, I am so sorry for the hijacking of the thread. I did just pop in and do that rather rudely in my chcoclate excitement! A new chocolate thread will be started, a fantastic idea I might add. Come on over and join, I am new to chocolate and need some help, lol. I will now return you to your bag of gluten topic, enjoy!
  11. Well, I have to say, I am better!!! And, I am still eating dairy and corn! Wahooo!!! Soo, I must have been glutened. Incidentally, I did scrub out my silverware drawer this week, maybe there was something in there? I am just so happy I am better while eating what I like:D Horray for me!
  12. Ok, I went out and got some! I got the 59% Dagoba semisweet dark, and it is good, I like it alot. I also got Green & Black's 70% bittersweet, but then noticed on the back it says made in a facility that manufactures wheat, so I haven't tried it. I also got Endangered Species 70% Dark chocolate with deep forest mint and that one is the big winner!!! I...
  13. Why thank you Hathor! I will try one of the brands you mentioned. I have never been a milk chocolate person, it is too sweet for me, but never thought to try dark chocolate! I think I will venture out today and see what chocolate I can find, this may make a great new hobby! lol
  14. Oh thank you so much!! I am just beside myself, I can't wait to try the butternut squash soup!!! YUMMY! Thanks again!! And, to help out a dark chocolate newbie, what kind should I try that I can get fairly easily by thursday? Not from a specialty shop... I am far away from them at the moment. I am near a Haggen, Safeway, etc. I had no idea thursdays were...
  15. Tarnalberry, the food snob, I was wondering... Do you have a blog or something with recipes you make on it?? You always post these wonderful snobby menus from holidays and the like. I want! lol Where do you get your recipes? If you tell me you make them up then you better be making a cookbook! I want to be a food snob too! P.S. I have never had dark chocolate...
  16. Hmmmm, this pet food thing is getting more intreaguing by the moment! I am going to get some this weekend in hopes that is the root of my problem! Yes, BF pirates booty is divine! Like a puffed cheeto only 100x's better! So light and crunchy with a hint of white cheddar!! Love them!! And, like Cat says, they are indeed addictive to the highest degree....
  17. Carla, I hope if I do have a problem with dairy that it goes away like yours did. Dionnek, about 2 weeks ago I had a dinner at my parents. I brought my own food and kept it covered until everyone was served. Though, during the course of dinner the bread basket was passed over my plate a few times. The basket was lined with terrycloth towles and then had...
  18. Thanks Carla, I will try that. How long should I just eat the rice, chicken etc. before I add in other things? That sound simple enough. I will look up the dog and cat food, I know there is a thread lurking about here somewhere discussing it. About the dairy, I am not sure if that is it or not. I have tried several times cutting out all dairy and sometimes...
  19. I really didn't want to buy gluten-free dog and cat food, so expensive! I have 2 large dogs that eat alot and 2 cats. I will look into it now. I did smootch my dh after he ate something the other day, but it was several hours afterwards and he had eaten/ drank since then gluten-free. I don't eat any soy, I have graves disease, but I do eat alot of corn...
  20. Rotten! That is exactly what I was NOT wanting you to say!! I am so bad at that, I tried once and got thru half of one day...
  21. Tried to edit, but my slow brain can't figure it out. I forgot to say my house is gluten-free except for the dog and cat food, yet I am never the one to feed them. One of the kids feeds them and then washes their hands.
  22. Ok, here is the deal... I was dx oct (via biopsy), and went gluten-free that day. I have done mucho research on the net (my nutritionist was of no help) and I am pretty anal about what I eat etc. Got new pots and pans, new cutting boards, my house is gluten-free. I have only eaten out twice and not within the last month. If I go somehwere I bring my own...
  23. LOL Accually I know what it tastes like. My jaw was broken as a teenager and I had to eat my spaghetti pureed. It was better than ensure, lol. But really, if you look at the processed baby food out there, you can find pureed spaghetti in little jars. Only homemade is more nutritious and it gets Jr in the habit of eating what everyone else is eating. You can...
  24. Try avacado. Lots of young children love it and it is very good for them. Try adding almond flour to your cookies and make them peanut butter cookies while you're at it. I had a child that didn't like textures. I would take our dinner, say spaghetti with meat sauce, and throw it in the blender. Every couple days I would blend it less to let a little more...
  25. When I am having a hard time sleeping, I take sleepytime tea with valarian. I believe it is celestial seasonings sleepytime extra. I don't use any sugar in it, that will give you a burst of energy, lol. I have struggled with sleep issues, going to sleep and then staying asleep. It helped me greatly to have the same routine every night. I play relaxing music...
