ARCHIVED About Those Rice Chex...
Laurad- replied to Beth in NC's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That sounds good... do you let the rice get cold before you pour the milk on it or do you eat it hot? p.s. I like the new Rice Chex. At first they bothered my stomach a teensy bit, but I think I got used to them because they don't bother me any more. -
ARCHIVED Noraver Garganta
Laurad- posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm in Colombia right now and I have a really bad cough so I stopped in at a pharmacy to see if I could get some cough drops. They didn't have anything that looked familiar to me, so I asked the pharmacist for help (using my VERY broken spanish). He gave me something called Noraver garganta, and it's a pill that you dissolve in water and then drink. There... -

LOVE IT!!! I'm totally getting cereal next time I'm there! -
Strongbow cider is my favorite! (but I agree that Woodchuck is good too.) ...and it comes in a bottle so you don't stand out when everyone else is drinking beer.

ARCHIVED So You Think You Can Dance
Laurad- replied to laurelfla's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Yeah, I'm kind of over Comfort too... she's AMAZING at her own style, but I don't think she's as versatile as the other girls. I'm kind of hoping that Twitch wins the whole thing. -
ARCHIVED Log Cabin Syrup
Laurad- replied to Puddy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've also switched to pure maple syrup because there's less to worry about, but I used to LOVE Log Cabin when I was younger! Thanks for the heads up. -
ARCHIVED So You Think You Can Dance
Laurad- replied to laurelfla's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
LOVE IT!!! I especially like all the routines that Mia Michaels choreographs. I was really bummed when Kherington got kicked off 2 weeks ago, though. When she and Twitch were partners, they were by far my favorite pair. -
ARCHIVED Coffee
Laurad- replied to trekker's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Wow, I haven't heard that before but it worries me because I LOVE coffee... Do you know which companies use flour? -

Success! Thank you very much. -
Hi! I am trying to upload a photo for my profile, and I've tried several different photos, and I get this message each time: "The upload failed. Please contact a board administrator." How do I make it work? Thanks!

ARCHIVED Abuelo's In Plano Texas
Laurad- replied to home-based-mom's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I ate at Abuelo's while in College Station, Texas last month. I wasn't in an explaining mood so I just told the waitress I have allergies and special ordered cheese quesadillas on corn tortillas (my back-up at all Mexican restaurants). It turned out great. They put an extra layer of cheese on top of them, so they were super intense and delicious and I... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Else Dealing With This While In College?
Laurad- replied to kera87's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hi! I was diagnosed during my senior year in college, and I was really sad about it too -- I got to the point where staying home and watching reruns on MTV for 7 hours a day seemed like a better option than having to hear one more drunk frat boy tell me he'd die without beer. BUT I just wanted to tell you that it gets better. I'm 24 now (out of... -
If I kiss my boyfriend when he's been drinking beer, I have a definite reaction. So now we have a deal that he has to brush his teeth before we kiss, and I don't have any problems, so I think that just brushing is enough for me.

The chicks at celiacchicks.com made a post today about voting for gluten-free pastry options at Starbucks. I think it would be amazing to get to eat pastries there again... Here's the link to the Starbucks website where you can vote: Open Original Shared Link You have to sign up for a starbucks.com account, but it only takes a couple seconds and it...

ARCHIVED Central America And South America
Laurad- replied to Laurad-'s topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Thanks for the info... do you think I need to worry about flour being in any of the tortillas, or do you think they're always made with corn? -

ARCHIVED Central America And South America
Laurad- replied to Laurad-'s topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I'll be going to a different city every week from June to December, so I'll get to go pretty much everywhere, including Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Argentina, Chile, etc. I'm so excited to see so many new places! And I just thought of something else: You know the list of "forbidden" ingredients that's on the celiac... -
ARCHIVED Central America And South America
Laurad- posted a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I just found out that I'll be traveling around Central and South America for 7 months this year (for my job) and I'm VERY excited but also pretty nervous about eating there gluten-free. I don't even speak spanish (but I'm going to try to learn)! Have any of you ever been there? (Or are any of you from there?) Do you know what sort of things I can order... -

Have you been to Vesta Dipping Grill yet? It's in LoDo (lower downtown Denver) and they have a gluten free menu and ridiculously good food. -
ARCHIVED In Need Of Healthy Weight Gain
Laurad- replied to Lisa's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Do you have a Jamba Juice near you? They have an "all fruit" variety of smoothie that has no dairy and a whole lot of calories. (Watch out for the free boosts that they put in them, though, as most of them contain oat bran. I always get the protein boost because I know it's safe, but that might be made of soy.) -
ARCHIVED Melting Pot Littleton Co - A Glorious Gluten Free Meal
Laurad- replied to Michelle1234's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Holy cow, that's great news! That used to be my favorite restaurant before I went gluten-free, and now I'm super excited to go back!! Thanks for the info. -
Hi Everyone! I'm going on tour with Disney on Ice! I'll be in each city for a week, living in hotel rooms, and I'd like to avoid eating in restaurants as much as possible. Hopefully my rooms will have those little mini bar fridges, but there definately won't be kitchens. I'm going to bring a hot pot, though, I think. So... those are the facts. Can...
