  1. Don't know nothin 'bout no seizures. As far as Celiacs eating hot dog or corny dog weinies. The breading in corn dogs is corn meal & wheat flour. What makes it worse though, the dog is dipped in the raw wet batter and then fried in batches with hundreds of corny dogs being fried before the oil is changed. So, I would think it's much, much more risky...
  2. My Dear MG, I noticed your list omits Oxycontin, a prescription drug abused by many in recent years. It's appearently somewhat addicting. Even Rush Limbaugh was hooked on it. I guess he's not a Celiac. I've never had the occasion to take it. When I was recovering from surgeries, in extreme pain, taking Vicodin and other medications, I jokingly said...
  3. You may want to just save it. It's nice to have a cool looking bottle around. Plus, sooner or later you'll have guests you could offer some to. best regards, lm
  4. Sounds interesting. Have you made this? Is the
  5. There are only two Abuelo's in Plano, east & west. The east one is on North Central Exprswy. I've eaten there. They are beautiful restaraunts, with an eclectic menu. I asked to speak with the manager, informed him I had Celiac, bla bla bla, and he told me the same story you will find at almost every single mexican place. Most of the sauces use wheat flour...
  6. How is TB more shocking than Arby's, KFC, Subway etc. ? Plus, I've never even noticed fries at TB. Thank you however, for enlightening me on the wheat in Jack In The Box Taco's. I've eaten them for a long time with no ill effects. I had no idea they had wheat in them. Don't know what " every bit of the taco has gluten... " means, but I should probably...
  7. Quite the contrary, didn't turn me off at all. Uninformed nonsense. best regards, lm
  8. Sorry MG, I have to disagree here. They have beans and crunchy tacos. The crunchy tacos have oat gluten, not wheat gluten, big difference. Yes, there is potential cross contamination issues with oats. But still, it's oat gluten, not wheat gluten. There is a huge difference. Church's, Popeye's, KFC, Pizza Hut, Dominos, other pizza chains are fast food places...
  9. I never thought of trying that. Taco Bell's Double Decker Taco Supreme used to be one of my favs. I've seen them use refried beans as the "glue", or sometimes they use queso instead. Your son had a good idea. best regards, lm
  10. I've been eating Frito Lay products virtually every day since being gluten-free (1
  11. I've eaten tons of the regular flavor with no problemo. You've got to be careful though. They are pretty sturdy chips. I've poked a hole in my mouth eating them. best regards, lm
  12. I've found quite a few good ones. I usually mix or blend several kinds together. ~ Casa Fiesta Taco Salad seasoning mix. ~ Bearitos Taco seasoning. ~ Wick Fowler's Famous Taco Seasoning Mix. ~ Nueva Cocina Chipotle Taco Beef Seasoning. ~ McCormicK Taco & also Chicken Taco seasoning mix. ~ Walmarts Great Value Taco seasoning. I don...
  13. "Patrick Henry High School. Department of Social Studies. Course 410 (elective senior seminar) Advanced Survival. It was just a test. But something had gone wrong. Terribly wrong. What was to have been a standard ten-day survival test had suddenly become an indefinite life-or-death nightmare. Now they were stranded somewhere in the universe. Beyond...
  14. Correction. That's Robert R. McCammon. And I agree, he's very good. best regards, lm
  15. I eat eggs & sausage. I have had the hash browns also. Of course the hash browns contain the same wheat flavoring as the fries. When ordering, I've found it's safer to place my order thusly: ~ speaking clearly & distinctly, I say "one order eggs". ~ when the counterperson has entered that into the computer I say "one order sausage". ...
  16. If you haven't been gluten-free until tomorrow, how do you know you react to "spices"? Any possible gluten contained in spice ingredients (which I wouldn't worry about anyway since wheat is not a spice) would be infinitesimally small compared to the major gluten you eat before going gluten-free. Why does your husband have to go on a gluten-free diet? He...
  17. Yes it does. They are dried noodles though. If it was wheat flour powder I might be concerned. The blue can product is the exact same stuff as the package, at more than twice the price. I put it on my popcorn. best regards, lm
  18. Where is the CC in the fries? They have a dedicated fryer. What would it take to make McDonald's fries more safe than your comfortable restaurant, where they most certainly do not have a dedicated fryer? A point Celiacs should know is that they do not fry the fries in a dedicated fryer for our benefit. Far from it, they only do so because otherwise the...
  19. wg, That's a pretty good question. Since you're the one that thought of it, why don't you eat some and let us know what happens? I always de-vein my shrimp. Also, I've long thought that the farm raised shrimp are basically tasteless compared to "real" shrimp. best regards, lm
  20. Gosh Liz, I thought we were talking about gluten-free stuff here. Usually the discussions on the McDonald's threads are about whether or not the fries have gluten in them. Or if they use a dedicated fryer or not. Or if a crumb from a waffle cone flew across the restaurant and magically landed on a fry. Now you're making an argument that fast food...
  21. Not only that, but the small McDonald's they put in the Walmarts do not serve a full breakfast menu. They do not serve hash browns, or eggs, pancakes, etc. Only biscuit sandwiches. Therefore, only fries are cooked in the fries fryer. best regards, lm
  22. I would say exactly the complete opposite is true. McDonald's has a dedicated fryer. I would never trust a "fancy" restaurant fryer. best regards, lm
  23. I respectfully defer to your tenure as a more experienced gluten-free Celiac. I consider myself still in the learning stages of gluten-free Celiac "for the rest of my life" living. I've never knowingly eaten gluten. Yet I must admit, I've taken calculated risks. I've eaten products containing oats (oatmeal, cereal with oats). No ill effects, but I gave...
  24. Sounds like a classic "power of suggestion" case. Mind over matter thing. Didn't make you sick when you "thought" they were OK. Then, when you "thought" they weren't OK you got sick. Wierd. best regards, lm
  25. In the year and a half since I've been diagnosed I haven't had a problem with any Frito Lay product. Of course I only eat the ones that don't contain wheat in the ingredients. best regards, lm
