My daughter is also a vegiac--she was already a vegetarian when she was diagnoses. the only real challnge she has noted (in additionn to the obvious) is eating out. Many celiacs will enjoy restaurant steak house type eating--steak salad potatoes--that sort of thing. Its much more difficult as a vegiac---not too many restarants have awesome beans!!!! But I...
  2. I think its a mistake to assume that every bad mood or bad behavior is related to gluten--some probably are but just as many bad moods and bad days are due to something else!! Id beware of allowing Celiac Disease to define everything in your childs life---they have a lifetime of coping to due in a gluten filled world and they need to develop the skills necessary...

My fav is the strawberry whirl--fresh and yummy breakfast!!

  8. Do you live near a major Celiac Center? They are much ore lilkely to take your concerns seriously...it may be worth traveling to one just to get a firm diagnosis..
  9. Just want to remind folks that live in communites where there may be significant Jewish population---it is Passover season and many stores in those communites are loaded with unique gluten free items--lLeiber and Gefen are two brands that have a number of unusal products identified as gluten free!!
  10. Im not sure that it is realistic to expect all fmaily memeber to "get it"...as celiacs we are always faced with a gluten filled world..we need to fuction in it inorder to reach our fullest potential as human bings and that means learning to live with people and their crumbs. Its never thoughtful for her to bring brownies to your birthday dinner--a fruit salad...
  11. What about Dannon--there web site is a bit shaddy--but the ingredient list looks totally fine to me??
  12. Does anyone eat Dannon light and fit yogurt smoothies? The ingredients look okay to me, they taste yummy and I havent reacted to them at all. The Dannon website has a sort of "CYA" kinda of attittude about the product...just wondering!!
  13. It is difficult but not impossible to be a gluten-free Veggie--you really need to be sure that you are nutritionally sound. I would highly recommend a meeting or two with a skilled nutritionist with experience in GI issues. Gardenburger does make a gluten-free burger (check the packages -only one or two of their selections are gluten-free) and a gluten-free...
  14. We have been eating them for quite some time--without a problem--but I think it is another one of those situations where you have to weight your indiviual tolerance for risk
