  1. Do you think celiac can affect milk supply? There are people in the world who have to use formula - my milk didn't even come in for one of my 3. As for the other two, I practically starved them - and had to supplement so that they didn't have to spend their first few months in the hospital b/c of severe jaundice, but lost my milk completely by 10 weeks. Didn...
  2. OK - so I can't figure out how to insert questions from your posts so you can figure out easily which ones I am answering - like I said - I'm new at this.... Being gluten free for me is not as difficult as it sounds. I have my own cereal or I eat a banana for breakfast. I make the kids cereal, etc. I let them eat whatever for lunch - gluten or not. (Now...
  3. Just out of curiousity - what did you order? I am so new at this and we used to go there after our girls night out volleyball league and get appetizers and a drink. I've been once since and I only ate the chips - it was all I could figure out that was OK without getting so frustrated. I'm still working on learning everything I need to ask...
  4. Hello! I was recently diagnosed with celiac through bloodwork and then it was confirmed with a biopsy. I have 3 small children: 3,2, and 11months. I had the baby tested via bloodwork because he is so small (he has no other "symptoms"). It came back negative. They also did a nutrition panel of iron, electrolytes, protein, etc. just in case it showed up a false...
  5. I just tried Bob's and they were really good. My kids even ate them. My husband raved about them - which I thought was odd - they were good, but not your typical pancake. He grew up on a farm though, and they have a much heavier kind of corn feel to them. He doesn't have to be gluten free - but is enjoying all of the meat, potatos, veggies and cornmeal type...
  6. Hi and welcome! I am new here too - just diagnosed in mid-Jan. I found out the other day that we get a tax deduction for gluten-free food as a medical expense. Yea!
  7. Thanks so much for the link to the amaretto! That kind has always been my favorite - so that makes me SO HAPPY! Here's a great recipe to keep in your freezer or for parties: 4 1/2 cups water 1/2 cup sugar 1 or 2 cups ameretto 1 can frozen OJ (12oz) 1 can frozen lemonade (12oz) Freeze overnight Serve with sprite.
  8. I've been wondering the same thing. So for example - do you think a strawberry daquiri would be safe? It's usually made with rum - so I guess it would be the mix that would be worrisome ...? What about ameretto? I've not been able to find anything on whether that is safe or not. That would be easy to order with a little sour mix - basically OJ and sprite...
  9. I just had my 11 month old son tested via blood test - and I was so worried about it that I was sick all night before. We went to a branch of our Children's Hospital and they were excellent! He didn't even cry. He was fascinated with the nurse and just sat and watched her. She says most young ones react that way - they don't have a lot of fear yet. His results...
  10. They actually make Dora Cinnamon Stars too - I eat them in the morning! They are good and a good source of fiber - my 11 month old LOVES them...
  11. Hi Dan- I'm brand new to this too. I've had D since September every morning for hours. I had plurisy and have had terrible mouth sores (in my throat even!) since August. My wrists ache something terrible. My blood test came back positive for celiac (I need to call the Dr now that I've been on here and find out exactly which ones he did) and the GI is doing...
  12. I've only known I have celiac for 3 weeks - so I'm new at this. I ate a hot pretzel for lunch everyday...Oh how I miss them!
  13. Hello! I'm really new here - I have my endoscopy on Tuesday. My GI said not to eat gluten (I've only been gluten free for 3 weeks). I was loosing 3-4 lbs a week - so not worth it She said that celiac is always patchy anyway - and especially b/c I've not had symptoms all of my life (only since Sept or so). They are going to take 4 or 5 samples and hope they...
