  1. Dear WalterS, I hope that by now you are feeling a little better. I agree with everyone about the bland diet. As soon as you find something that stays in your belly, stick with it! Also, about the whole going back to work and public restroom issue, have you tried any medication to give you a little peace of mind during the day? I've had really good luck...
  2. Dear luckgfme, I so feel for you!! When everything is going well with my gluten free life, I think hey this is not such a big deal. But when I get glutened, or have a gluten-like-reaction to something else I get in the darkest of dark moods (fyi - my worst non-gluten glutening reaction was to tuna salad and I haven't touched tuna since - maybe it's the...
  3. Hi again, I just wanted to thank everyone for your kind words and support. I'm just starting to feel more normal, and phew!! I think I can wear my skinny pants now, that's a plus at least. Thanks again! p.s - noglugirl, what's a promethazine? would you recommend it?

Hi everyone, Sorry, this isn't going to be a very cheery post. I got glutened last wednesday, and it was awful. But it's monday noq and I thought it would be over by now!! I just feel like I can't deal with this anymore. I keep cutting things out, suspecting things, being afraid of everything that goes in my mouth..... And I'm usually not feeling like...
  5. Welcome Jyn, I don't have many answers for you, but I can tell you that you will find the support and answers you need here, don't worry. I know very very little about shock and what would cause it - but I do know that lots of people have trouble when they go gluten free because it's such a drastic change. It can be hard to cut out so much and make...
  6. ATTENTION all you people who are throwing out inedible bagels and other breads!! I discovered a great way to use these things without having to eat them. Take a cheese grater or a food processor (cut the bread or bagels up before you put them in there) and "grate" the whole thing and then put the remaining crumbs in a bag with a bunch of spices that you...
  7. My celiac was triggered by emotional stress, and right before I went gluten-free my mood swings, depression and anxiety were nearly out of control - but looking back I think I always had tendencies. There were times I thought I was going to lose my mind, or never recover. But as soon as I cut it out, most of the anxiety - the absolute worst of it - went away...
  8. Hi Everyone, I'm not new to the board, which I can thank for getting me through those first gluten free months, but I am new to posting. And I'm not usually crabby about being gluten-free, in fact I feel so much better this way I don't even really get cravings. Also, thanks to you guys, I've been able to find a lot of positivity in this, and some great...

    ARCHIVED Psm

Oh good, a period thread! I've been wondering about this stuff as well. I too seem to have not only worse periods (more painful, longer) since I've gone gluten free, but they are absolutely all over the place! I was never completely on time, but I'll completely skip one every two months or so now and I wonder if it's gluten. It also seems that the longer...
  10. I've also noticed that if I get glutened and take pepto a few days in a row it can be incredibly constipating. Other than that, I think it works like nothing else and makes it possible to actually leave the house when I get glutened. I've done some research into it and haven't found anything scary at all.
  11. It's the same for me!! I never had such horrible anxiety as I do when I get glutened . I get plummeted into this horrible dark mood and I just can't get out of it or see the end in sight. I mean the stomach stuff is no dream either, but it's the anxiety and depression that hit me the hardest. I'm sorry that we all have to go through this, but always makes...
  12. Hi Everyone! I'm new to posting, but not the board - I've been Gluten Free since July 2006 and I would not have been able to do it without this place. Anyway, enough about me, I just wanted to add something about the bread issue. Someone earlier mentioned Sterk's Bakery having good bread, and it is the absolute BEST. I first had it in a gluten free...
