  1. I think it would be a good idea to get a second opinion on this. Which blood test was positive? Because a positive tissue transglutamase blood test is highly specific for celiac disease. Like Kaiti said, if the biopsy was negative the doctor may have missed the damage. Either way, I think that it is a very good idea to stick with the gluten-free diet since...
  2. Kinnickinnick Italian Tapioca-Rice Bread is what I always get. I like it best toasted
  3. I totally agree. Some people will never get it no matter how much you explain. When I am around people like that I am extra cautious and watch my food like a hawk, even then there are mistakes In my experience, things can go bad if you leave food unattended around those that easily forget or who don't get it. If you are nervous, make sure that you clearly...
  4. Thanks Jacqui! I'm thinking of going on a cruise and was just wondering what all the best companies are.
  5. I'm glad that you found the source of your problems. One werid product that I reacted to was Neutrogena suncreen, it has oat extract in it. Oh yes and Got-2b-Clean Shampoo has wheat in in it.
  6. I'm glad it worked! Cute puppy! I want one
  7. Thanks for letting us know. Sorry you can't have them I know how annoying it is
  8. Open Original Shared Link Here is one! I did this: +pizza +crust under the recipe section.
  9. Tinkyada the pasta as a product recommendation, I probably spelled it wrong.
  10. Yum! What does P&O stand for?
  11. I would say that if you are noticing improvements on the gluten-free diet then you could have celiac disease or a sensitivity to gluten. There are a few recipes for chinese food here in the recipe section. I've tried the lemon chicken and my own of coarse, both very good! Here is the link! Open Original Shared Link
  12. Hi! Welcome to the board! If you do decide that you want an official diagnosis you would have to go back to eating gluten again or else you may get false negative results. However, some people are happy with just a postive dietary challenge. I found that the gluten-free diet really helped my sinuses as well! A lot of soy sauce has wheat in it and...
  13. Do you know which test was positive for you and your sister? I would guess that celiac disease could be in your family since your mother and sister also are showing signs of it. Like you said, you do not need symptoms to have intestinal damage and you mentioned that your anxiety got better on the diet. Maybe anxiety is your only symptom? I know the...
  14. I am assuming that you don't have celaic disease. Chrones disease and ulcerative colitis are two complaely different diseases. These are Inflammatory Bowel Diseases which cause inflamation or ulcers in the intestine and can be treated and put in remission. I am not very up to date with these diseases so I don't really know what works or doesn't work to put...
  15. I think you just need to be firm with them. Say that even crumbs can make you sick and cause intestinal damage and then be very strict about it even if they roll their eyes, huff, or get annoyed. I've been in similar situations before with people and they are not fun. I think Susan is right about this From my experience, people I know well mainly...
  16. It's a good thing that the doctor caught it. Many people go for years with undiagnosed celiac and end up having many problems. Feel free to ask any questions regarding celaic and the diet!
  17. haha funny topic My least favorite gluten free food would have to be those corn and rice pasta mixes (The one I tried anyway) Bleh!
  18. That sounds good! Thanks for sharing.
  19. My doctor seems to think that I have IBS and celiac disease. My GI doctor tryed to explain it to me, and he said that having celiac disease irritated my intestines which caused IBS. I think the gluten caused so much damage in me that my intestines were having spasms way too often, which is IBS (an irritated bowel). I know that it is a symtom of celiac disease...
  20. Have you been there before? It is a very beautiful place and you may see whales! If you are nervous of getting sick I would stick with Swiss Chalet. I've been to Swiss Chalet in all of the maritime provinces (Charlotteown, PEI, Truro, NS, and Moncton N.B.) and have never got sick (knock on wood ). The staff are always knowlegable about celiac and the gluten...
  21. I know it can be hard to get them tested when you know they should. The best thing to do is provide them with the complications of having untreated celiac disease. Just say that you care about them and you don't want anything to happen to them. Ultimately it is their decision but you can provide them with the facts to help them make the right decision. ...
  22. If the people they were testing were completly gluten free, then they may have had untreated celiac disease for a very long time and thus accumulated large amounts of gluten. I think that the longer you've had untreated celiac disaes the longer it will take for you to get better. I've been gluten free for over a year and I'm still not myself. oh no...
  23. A very strict gluten free diet will result in healing of the villi in the small intestine. Only in very rare cases the villi cannot heal.
  24. Yes, fatigue is a very common and normal symptom. Fatigue and lack of energy are two of the many symptoms that I get. My reactions also last for about 2 weeks, the fatigue usually stays longer though
