  1. I didn't train mine till she had been about 8 months on the diet. Yeah we spent a fortune on diapers, but at least when i trained her she was well aware and she wasnt soooo bad on D's any more. I felt for my child it was better for her self esteem. She was trained one month before she turned 3!!! But i doubt i would have waited any longer - older than...
  2. Thanks for that, at least i know that my hubby is not the only one!! I do make mostly gluten free meals for supper, except since we don't eat together she will get her rice pasta and for us we will have regular (gotta save $$ ) She is responsible and she does ask, especially when she sees the other alternative to what is being ofered is chocolate!!!...
  3. Ha ha, so much for all my worrying!! Last week i was the worlds best mom - i made cookies with her (i loved them she said ick), i made muffins (teid and tested, she loves them) and i made challah. the reason for the whole baking spree was to bring back her confidence in gluten free stuff - well, i tasted her challa, and it tasted like the regular one that...
  4. i am basically gluten free, my lunch, which i eat together with her is almost always her food or a salad with rice cakes. Supper we don't eat as a family since my husband comes home too late, but whoever eats together with her, that is her younger brother, has g.f. I can't go entirely gluten free because of Shabbat, unless i saw a marked improvement in...
  5. Thanks all!! you've given me my confidence boost that i needed Later on in the week, i'll probably bake some challah, and i will let you know if that was actually the source of all the problems - i did tell that i was looking for a recipe for challah, and she said, and are you also going to eat it... Well what should i say - definately not, i can't stand...
  6. Thanks for those challah recipes, they sound better than what we've tried in the past, so hopefully we will hit gold this time. The picture of it definately looks great, but from past experiences, pictures on the outside of gluten free stuff rarely look like the real thing
  7. i think i know what it is that she is craving for and that is Challah bread. It is only on when we are all eating it the she gets like that - all weepy and not wanting to eat gluten free etc. BUT she doesn't like any that i have made and any that are in the store - well - you all know that ready mde bread not even the ants will touch sure there are other...
  8. HELP!!! I am a bit stuck; any and all help will be appreciated!! My 3 and a half year old has just started in a new day care that is absolutely fantastic - she loves the teacher and the assistants etc, most of her friends came with her. So i really don't think it is because of her new daycare. Now to the problem - she told me she doesn't like her tummy...
  9. i know everyone is saying it should take a week or two for the D to stop. it took my daughter, who was just 2 when she dx over 3 months to stop the D, and trust me i was a maniac and paranoid like noones business I was the most neurotic mom there was on the planet, and drs said that even though the books say it should take quick, some kids do take longer...
  10. She is "just" gluten and dairy free. and dairy only gives her exzema, so i don't care to give her dairy once in the blue moon if it is something really important - like cake!!!!!
  11. Hiya, i have seen a great recipe for breakfast muffins - they call for 1 cup wheat germ, which i figured i would just exchange for one of our flours and 6 cups oats. can i change the oats for quinoa? and if not what could i use?? i hate giving her eggs and rice cakes (her favorite) every day
  12. Just to tell you something nice for a change There is gonna be a bday party at my dd nursery, and the mother of the kid met me and asked what she could eat, wrote a list and is making sure there will be a party favour and cake for her! I couldnt believe, its not someone i know or care about, and she did just so my dd should feel included... Getting...
  13. i fly regularly, 4 times a year, and we have never had a problem with gluten - neither with the plane nor with rental cars. I make sure to bring with PLENTY of food for the plane, coz when everyone else gets, she also wants, and i also take with, and don't rely on, snacks to keep in the car. Thats for when we are stuck in traffic and stuff - Your dd is...
  14. No asian market and no cauliflower!!! doesn't exist!! We live in a really primitive area, so there really is nothing instead she is off dairy and soya, but now that i have kept her off soya for a month and seen absolutely no difference, i might just put her back on it. Dairy i kept her off because of her exzema, which seems to have cleared up recently...
  15. Welcome to this board, how is your daughter taking it? It must be hard for a 6 year old with no issues to want to go on this diet! About the biopsy, it depends on your/your childsnature - will she be able to go through life with blood work as an official diagnosis, or will she cheat? I did it on my 2 year old - given mine and my husbands nature, she would...
  16. I never knew there was a replacement, so to speak for potatoes!! Where i live, i am happy just to get the plain old regular potatoes - nothing fancy here!!! DD has no issues with candida, the dr just said maybe that is why her D is still ongoing... It seems to have let up in recent weeks (gone the opposite way ) so i am not worrying about that... I...
  17. Thanks all! You are the best bunch!! Ok, here goes... How do i take her off the nightshades, and can i start with just going off potatoes? She doesn't eat eggplant and peppers, so the othe problem is tomatoes? I was told by one dr that ishould take her off all fruit that has sugars in it, coz maybe that is the problem, but i couldn't bring myself to...
  18. Thanks for your reply, I have just now taken her off soya, and that seems to have helped her moods and her sleeping habits, which were terrible! (and she grew loads!!!) But she is still terribly bloated which doesn't seem to be going away I am a little bit wary of taking her off more food - she is off dairy and soya, and she hates fish (unless i call...
  19. Mine was exactly the same, and we ended up in hospital for about a month, but htat's another story... Seriously, i took off dairy, soy for BM and all acidic foods, like tomatoes and stuff for the exzema. After all that, he still needed reflux medication, since that was what was really bothering him!! He was Mr Happy, smiley cheerful, whatever name...
  20. Don't know if you all remember me, haven't been on in a while, but i'll give a little history. Dd now 3 and 1/4 has been gluten-free sinc she turned 2. Her numbers have gone up instead of down, and we are VERY strict. Now to my problem They want to put her on steroids for 6 weeks, possibly as an in patient in hospital, and i want to know if there is...
  21. it sounds like you are not gluten-free, so I guess you know that if you are cooking anything with wheat flour in the house that she will stay sick from that. Also things like cake mixes etc that people do not realize contain wheat flour. Is she getting cross contaminated at day care - very likely & are they using gluten free play doh?
  22. Thanks, Darn210, for your reply... I give my dd for lunch the leftovers from supper the night before - or a jacket potato, or eggs with oven chips - basically anything that can be ready the second she comes back from daycare, coz she is STARVING I am now on a hunt for glute, dairy and soya free pancakes, coz she loves them. I am also on a hunt for peanut...
  23. Mine had exzema, now it only flares up when she has dairy! Funnily enough, we thought it was gluten, but i guess it was the dairy that was the actual problem!!
  24. Thanks for your suggestions... I don't give her any dairy, except for the really odd chocolate, and i am trying to cut down on her soya intake although that is hard. I really have no time in the morning to make any great breakfast, she is very picky in the mornings, the only meal that she really eats nicely is lunch, so that i work for and also for supper...
  25. Don't know if you remember, but my dd, who is now three and gluten free for a year... well her numbers went up instead of down. The gastro said he's never seen anything like this, and sent me to the dietician. Well, after the dietician, i got really confused. Basically, this is what he said - TAKE OUT ANY AND ALL PROCESSED FOODS. How in heavens name...
