  1. Mine gets exzema from eating dairy - any kind the tiniest amount - and she'll scratch for two days straight till she is full of blood and her skin is rough like sand paper... Poor kid! At those times i put moisteriser on her 3-4 times a day, all over her body and it clears up, although it takes approx 5 days for it all to go. She also gets the itches if...
  2. my one year old is gluten, dairy, soya and egg free (although we just tried him on eggs and he had no reaction ) The hardest was snacks - he wanted g.f. pretzels, crisps etc like his older sister and i couldn't give them to him!! I did find something that he liked (besides chocolate ) and that was dried fruit, either sweetened or more often than not without...
  3. i make a stew once a week - potatoes meat veggies, sometimes beans, in a tomatoe sauce base and both my kids love it! they would eat it every day if i made it (I gueass i'm not such a kind mom!) Hmmm what else do i make... A lot of chicken meals - put chicken pots fried onion and garlic in a frying pan and leave it for 1-1 1/2 hours... jacket pots with...
  4. Core... feel bad for you... just to tell you, 9 months on, my daughter still has a belly, except now i hope that its fat (thats all in my dreams, coz its rock hard!)
  5. i didn't realise he was 14 - tough age to be different! Why don't you try to give him his supper, and therefore your supper, a naturally gluten free meal, potatoes, rice in all its variations, and if he is off one meal, you might be able to see a difference in his behaviour in the evening... I hope for your sake
  6. have you tried the gluten-free diet? its hard, but if it helps your son stay off any medication (i think you have to do it b4 you start the medicine) then you'll be able to see straight away if its gluten or not! Good luck!
  7. my daughter has been gluten free for approx 8 months and still has that belly... Now i am thinking that she is just fat (or is that just dreams?!)
  8. Hi, my 12 month old is on precautionary gluten free diet (everything negative just not gaining, but not gaining without gluten either, so it seems to be a waste of time ) The things i found very hard, was making sure there was not a crumb of gluten anywhere that he could reach, coz his tiny fingers can pick up even tinier crumbs At least his sister is...
  9. My daughter was just about 2 whan she was diagnosed - now approx 8 months later i can't begin to tell you the difference. I don't know what her character is like now, but mine didn't know the meaning of socialising - didn't know how to react to anything, was MAJOR sensitive, cried for nothing - hid like a mouse if anyone so much as DARED to look at her in...
  10. sorry to say this, but my daughter had a reaction both to the trix and to pebbles cereals
  11. Ask for them to check his absorption levels - to see if he is malnourished
  12. I saw playmais in the shop, it says its made from cornstarch, so i calleup up the company and it is GLUTENFREE!! it looks like great fun - it says it is from age 3, but i think from 4 would be good... but my daughter is hyper!! just google search PLAYMAIS - i know i sound hyper, but i am... for my kids
  13. FYI all colgate toothpaste is gluten free, and my nearly three year old loves it!
  14. Although mine is dx celiac, i found that she only fully cleared up from her exzema after i took her off dairy completely - but it was 6 months of trial and error. I know that many people on this board swear by the gluten free diet, if you believe in your heart of hearts that it could be something else, either in addition to gluten or that gluten is not even...
  15. Like yourself, I don't know what I'm going to do when I have to put my son in school. It sends me into a panic, I too wish I could just keep him in a bubble for health reasons. I'm afraid to have Carter around playdough and things like that. I worry about other children's parents bringing cupcakes and cookies for birthdays or classroom treats. i taught...
  16. How old is your daughter? When mine first got dx i cried, for the first month (between the blood work and biopsy was a month) and then i just said "go blow every one, pull yourself together and you'll manage") Well, about 7 months since then, sure there are times when i feel my daughter is not eating the best of stuff, and that it is a bit monotonous for...
  17. my daughter, not yet 3, is sooo good about not accepting, and if the substitute teacher gives her something, she'll say "but it has gluten in it, miss!" BUT we just tole her that her 1 year old brother might be able to eat gluten and that made her almost cry Then i felt bad for her!! Poor thing thought that all kids can't eat gluten and now her little...
  18. my 2 and 9 month is a confirmed celiac, although we do keep her off dairy - dairy lite as we call it - but htatis EASY compared to my 12 month old who is off, very strictly, gluten dairy, soya and eggs!! Gluten i find easy, compared to eggs - that i find a real pain in the neck! i don't know if i would have said that in the first months i was gluten free...
  19. my dear daughter, 2 and 9 months, gets a reaction with in the hour, goes all pale and a real pain in the neck!! (excuse me for being so blunt!!) she moans and groans and i feel bad for anyone who comes in to visit us She gets really sore in the diaper area, to the point that she is scared to make anything because it stings her so much... she cries when...
  20. does anyone know if they do such a thing for overseas? asin, i am in israel now and i dont live in the u.s., is there any other place that does it, say in england or israel that anyone knows of first hand? and is it worth flying to the u.s.a for it? shows desperation that i am willing to fly to the other end of the world (not really, but a 12 hour flight...
  21. you must have misunderstood me!! i am still keeping my precious one of gluten, dairy, soya and eggs. Keeping off gluten is easy compared to the other three I am not saying he is for sure not a celiac, its just that they don't understand why he still didn't grow since he's been off all those things, so they are now looking at different things. I actually...
  22. actually, what htey are saying is that the reflux is coz he is a baby still, and it is burning him up inside. they don't believe it is celiac and that they took him off all these foods just so that the docs can say that they have done some thing. if it was celiac, then why did he not gain or grow since he has been on the diet. really since he has been...
  23. Just came back from an eating clinic, where some bright sparks get together to decide what is wrong with you (or my ds in this case!) and they say it is absolutely not possible its celiac - according to them it is gastric reflux!! (i thought he was too old for it - he is one today!) Can you imagine?! i've been in hospital for a whole month and not one single...
  24. Why don't you try heating it up before he goes to school and put it in one of those thermos things - they mention it all the time on this site and really recommend it, it has just slipped my mind the actual name of it!! i always think that i can't actually be bothered with fighting all these big shots... BUT if there were a bunch of celiacs in teh school...
  25. In the hospital, he was mostly fed thru his NG tube, so whatever he ate, which was mostly baby jars, i knew was gluten-free. The problem with his diet is that nothing has been confirmed - it is only precautionary (my dd is a celiac so thats the gluten-free bit) It is MAJOR frustrating nor to have anything confirmed... i am hopefully gonna go for some conventional...
