  1. At least i now know that maybe i might be right in my guesses for my daughter!! She is three and has been gluten free for 11 months and i am one of those cray, paranoid type... the one that has made my dd so scared of gluten she now uses it as an excuse not to tidy up her toys!!! Anyway, she grew and put on weight, her mood changed, but her bloated stayed...
  2. My daughter (3 today!) has the freeda vitamins and won't leave the house without one - she loves them!!! Would have the whole box if i let her (there's 250 in it )
  3. Both mine were crazy underweight, and for the older one - 3 this week! - we were actually told by our pediatrician to put her on a dairy only, or mostly, diet. This was before she was diagnosed celiac, and before we realised that dairy caused her exzema to flair up!! Having said that, she ate loads of dairy, she had approx 5 yoghurts a day and loads of...
  4. my daughter was so ill, her skin had the green look (of course i thought she still looked the prettiest of all the kids at daycare ). She hadn't grown in ages and we had already been accused of abusing her! We changed drs and country and she had a celiac panel as routine for any child that has FTT. Her numbers were crazy high, but now 1 year gluten free...
  5. My daughter was just over 2 when we biopsied her and she could have fit into her brother 9-12 month clothes!! Having said that, today she is wearing age 4, not that she is big or fat for her age, but she has a hearty apetite now, and before she ONLY ate cheerios and pasta!! Now she'll eat almost anything i put on her plate (everything but veggies!) I...
  6. If it was my son, i would keep hime off gluten till about 3 and then do a test on him - either challenge him if you don't care for an official diagnosis, or try him on it for longer and do the testing then. The reason i say about 3, is so that his brain has developed, and he wont have developmental issues - like speech delays coz his brain isn't getting...
  7. I was told by different drs different things - to start at 4 months, 7 m,onths and after 1. Personally, i wouldn't start till after 2 years old - i want my childs brain to develop without gluten, and afterwards, when he/she is able to verbalise and tell me what is bothering, to try gluten. If your house is already gluten free it shouldn't be too hard. Just...
  8. depends on how much a diagnosis means to you, and what your family situation is like - i know neither my family nor my in laws family would be able to live thru life without a proper diagnosis. I know that i myself would never have kept to such a diet. I think that is what it really depends on - you!

    ARCHIVED Just Lost It

Thanks for your replies, i did actually go gluten free, and didn't see any change, and when i tried gluten again it didn't bother me, but when i had (less than a whiskey shot of) wine, that is when i knew what it was I knew it was the alcohol that was bothering me and not gluten, so i just went back on gluten, just slowly, coz i actually liked the gluten...
  10. Just found out that there is no heartbeat, and i am going to lose my baby... do you think, even though i got a negative on the celiac blood work, that it is possible i am still a celiac? I know i am clutching at straws, but i guess i just need answers... I was gluten light for 7 weeks and then went back fully on gluten and lost it, or rather it stopped developing...
  11. is there no way you can do a conventional allergy test, where your baby doesnt have to be eating what you are testing for? I think the conventional test is called RAST testing and apparently is pretty accurate, till the age of 5, and after that there can be falses... It is hell on earth elliminating food while you are feeding
  12. The FREEDA vitamins are everything free - gluten lactose etc, and not too hard to swallow!
  13. Thanks, my last post somehow never got in - that was a couple of days ago. I never thought to check for vitamin e, although i never use had creams, nor any other lotions, and its not in any shampoo or any of her stuff... BUT i am going to check in to this probiotic stuff for her. Anyone know of a good probiotic for a 3 year old? She has had recurring...
  14. My daughter is going to be three the end of jan, she is in a playgroup in my sister in laws house, and my sil knows what to give. My daughter has been there since before she was diagnosed and she knows, and slipped up once, about 7 weeks into the diet. She does get exzema from dairy, so she is dairy light - when i say that, i mean she has one slice of cheese...
  15. she does scratch and itch her face a lot, but only coz her hair gets in the way! so its not really near her mouth! We are at the moment doing a gluten challenge on my younger one so hte house is not as gluten free as it was, but i always wash his hands after he eats biscuits and stuff - he's only 14 months so i have to make sure there are no stray cheerios...
  16. Thanks guys - i know i can always talk to you and you'll hear me out and give advice i was thinking about her diet and cc - i know she won't take a THING from anyone, even her teachers unless i say. SHe is SUPER scared of a reaction - i made her paranoid and i don't regret it I don't give her playdough, she hardly eats processed food except if it says...
  17. Her numbers went higher instead of lower My daughter has been gluten free since march, so that's approx 9-10 months and i thought i was really strict, and i just did more blood work since she is still bloated and has the stomach and her numbers went up!! She won't touch anything that she doesn't recognise even if i tell her it is ok - she is too scared...
  18. my daughter was the happiest, smilieat, cutest baby - till i introduced her to formula and solids. Then she became major clingy, wouldn't let me out her sight, and basically did her own things. She hardly moved from where i put her down, even after she walked - now i see she didn't have the strength! She did a lot of repetitive things. After being gluten...
  19. Why shouldn't you continue to breastfeed? If you are eating gluten, then it is going into him anyway, and if you give him the bare minimum of gluten - like just his breakfast cereal and everything else is gluten free, then his biopsy will still come out as though he is eating gluten. Yes, gluten might seem like it is a poison (some people might answer you...
  20. My stepgrandma was diagnosed just over thirty years ago in england. In those days instead of looking at the villi to see how damaged it was, they looked at the tongue. If it was very smooth like a piece of paper, they diagnosed you with celiac. Now, i asked my grandfather about this (he's a dr) and he said just like the insides need sonething to grab the...
  21. My daughter, nearly a year on, still gets exzema from dairy. I give her soya milk, although i do give her cheese every so often, and dairy chocolate Yes she itches and i have to put loads of cream on, but i can't deprive her of everything. BUT i can't tolerate dairy so at least i know where the dairy thing comes from
  22. Wow! You sound like you have had a run! Why don't you insist on blood work and see what happens then, or try her yourself on the gluten free diet and see if there is a change. Personally i would first see if any tests came out positive coz she would have to be on gluten in order for the tests to be accurate. And its much harder to go back on gluten Let...
  23. i got tested and i am not a celiac - i got tested about 6 months ago. See, the reason i chose to go gluten free is because then i watch what i put i n my mouth and automatically am dieting (don't worry, my byn told me i am 4.5 lbs less than last preg, and i am thin to begin with ) So really i am using this as an excuse to diet, but i don't know if it...
  24. My daughter is a celiac, comfirmed with blood and biopsy (she's nearly three, been gluten free for 10 months). I have just found out i am pregnant. my gyn has no idea about celiac and couldn't answer. Should i go gluten free while pregnant and nursing or should i just let nature take its course? Since i found out i am pregnant, i have been really healthy...
  25. Hi ya! i was in the same boat as you this time last year (actually 10 months ago!) My dd ONLY ate cheerios and pasta and bread (chocolate also ) Between the blood tests and the biopsy, i cried - and that was for about 6 weeks!! Then i started looking at he prices for gluten free stuff and i cried again!! 10 months on, she actually asks me for fruit...
