My daughter gets D when she is glutened, and nearly always gets a hemerhoid (SP). She then stands there wiggling all day till the gluten is out of her body. A bath does help soothe her, but not enough. So, what i am saying is that Hemerhoids don't only come from constipation, but also from D -

Is your son dairy free? I know i can sometimes go almost a month with out going if i eat dairy!!! Ouch I still eat it coz i love it, but i am dairy light - it is hard for you to do that to your kid, but it is easier in the long run than being gluten free!!! -

ARCHIVED Drs Blame Everything On Celiac
shan replied to shan's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks, i went back to another dr and i thought he was exagerating when he said i should do blood tests to check her kidney function and also ultrasounds... but now i see it is important. But now i am nervous!!! The dr said first to check and do another culture and see if everything is still clear - you can get false negatives! if it is still clear, i... -
First of all, eat before you go, and then you aren't starving when you get there. Then i wouldn't trust anything that is cooked, only fresh fruit and vegetable salads - nothing else coz of cc. Good luck

Seriously, i don't know your life style, but i am a stray at home mom - so i definately have a lot of advantages, being able to heat up...

ARCHIVED Going Gluten Free With Other Food Allergies? Help!
shan replied to sarahelizabeth's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I naturally cook without gluten, dairy and soya, because of my daughter and son - i don't have any health food shops nearby, so the only thing i occasionally get are the crackers and pretzels to snack on! The hardest i find is breakfast - i make a big supper and give leftovers for lunch. But i dont know what i would do when they start proper school and... -

shan replied to shan's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Sorry, i guessi didn't give graphic enough details - it seemed that it was coming from her vagina!! Today she hasn't complained but i do think she is holding herself back - she is trained in the day, not at night, so that is probably why i noticed... -

My daughter, who is 2 and 10 months, just woke up crying that her diaper is "wet". So i had a peek and it had blood in it! I freaked! So off i went to the emergency room, and when i said she had celiac, the doctor said "maybe it is because she is a celiac that she has blood over there, but just incase we will do a urine check" Is this doctor a load of... -

ARCHIVED Gluten-free Without Official Diagnosis
shan replied to mairin's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
He should be old enough to remember the pain or whatever he felt before - my almost three year old won't touch it and if someone ever dares to try to give her gluten she'll say "sorry it has gluten in it and i can't have it " But she does have an official diagnosis .... -
My son had that - vomiting and D from eggs, and was taken off that in addition to dairy soya and gluten! After 4 months of being off it, i just tried him on it and he was absolutely fine... Some allergists say, if your kid tests positive for an allergy, then keep them off it till they are five, it'll probably be a childhood allergy... Dunno if i would...

ARCHIVED When Do You Introduce Gluten To Baby?
shan replied to Offthegrid's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
There are so many different opinions on this! In one hospital, i was told by 2 different drs, to try at 4-6 months and hte other said only after a year. I gave mine a couple of spoons at approx 6 months, he wasn't happy and now at 13 months i hope to be trying it again. They said there is no way you can prevent it from being 'passed on', nor can you prevent... -

shan replied to dandelionmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
You know what my fears are? That her social life will be a nothing, and that no one will like her (she is not yet 3!) but then i think that everyone has to worry about something! I also worry about who will want to marry or date someone who cant even be in a house where there is flour!
