  1. Hi Liya, CarlaB, who started this forum's lyme thread, is an example. The blog I mentioned discusses it too. If an LLMD referred you, you will be fine. The main problem is that there is a sharp split in the medical community about lyme. One group does not believe in chronic lyme and won't treat it. The other group does. You need...
  2. Kathryn, sorry about the yogurt maker, I've done that before with hair dryers. So happy to hear how much better you are feeling!!!! Congratulations!
  3. Constipation issues: I've had an aha moment maybe. I was researching about constipation and read there are three types, atonic, spastic (or spasmodic) and obstructive. In the past I have had atonic most of the time. Lack of tone or muscle activity in the intestine so things don't move through. I've recently added back in quite a bit of oral magnesium...
  4. Mia I agree, I think it isn't all necessarily an upset from birth in terms of bacteria although it could be. I also think the body has a powerful ability to right itself if given a chance. I've been reading this blog lately. Open Original Shared Link It is really interesting because the doctor posts stories about patients with severe symptoms who...
  5. Rinne, glad to see you. April and I are doing well on SCD, glad you are going to try it. Sherry
  6. I haven't tried baking with cashews yet, but have made a cheese replacement with it. I'll be interested if you experiment because I have a terrible time getting raw almonds here and the additives bother me. Sherry
  7. Hello K! Welcome. There is a dedicated lyme disease thread on this forum which would contain a lot of information that will be helpful to you. Some of us "lymies" watch it, so if you post there you should get some responses. Open Original Shared Link This link is to a blog by a doctor who treats lyme disease. He is not supportive of any alternative...
  8. Dawn, I am wrestling with the constipation issue as well, and can't get a consistent solution. I was adding in magnesium, but for days could hardly go except for very thin small amounts. Researching this sounded like spastic or spasmodic constipation, where as before what I had was atonic. The mag. helped a lot with the atonic, but I wondered if it...
  9. Paula, I take 10,000 iu of vitamin D a day now that the winter months are here. Sherry
  10. Yeah, its been hard. The work will be finished tomorrow, yeah! But the cleanup is major. Thankfully my housekeeper is helping. She's been a jewel, staying out there and trying to do stuff and keeping me in my room away from the fumes and dust for the most part. Today we had to have the house open again but it wasn't nearly as cold, thankfully. Sherry
  11. Chicken Carrot Ginger Soup (variation: curry) Sorry the amounts aren't exact here 1 whole chicken, 4 chicken thigh/legs or chicken breasts Carrots--a dozen or so. I look for about a 2-3 to one ratio of carrots to chicken fresh ginger, several large slices (to your taste) Bring to a boil and simmer for about 4 hours. Remove the skin...
  12. Rachel I am totally with you on the repairs...today I am holed up in my bedroom trying to escape the fumes from the pipe repair. They are gluing and using heat so there is a burn smell too. Horrible.
  13. Open Original Shared Link Very interesting on lyme and gall bladder. Sounds exactly like what happened to Kassandra.
  14. KK, I am not sure of the answer for you on this. If it was me, the least little bit of gluten would contribute. It seems to have at least two effects for me, first inflammation. Part of the inflammation is fluid retention. Secondly, my body seems to go into starvation mode when on gluten, and just lays down fat as much as possible. Maybe this is triggered...
  15. Hello Sindread, welcome. How long did you stay on SCD? I had a similar response initially but after about a week it improved a lot. I have noticed a huge improvement in cravings, fatigue, stamina, etc. Initially I used quite a lot of honey but then was able to wean off of it to a more reasonable amount (just a little in things). Those with dairy...
  16. Abdominal distention and fluid retention as well as weight gain are gluten symptoms for me; they recently returned when I got a small amount of gluten via contamination on a regular basis until I figured out the source. I'm still trying to figure out the best approach but have had quite a bit of improvement on SCD. This could be part of the answer for...
  17. Well the bloating and constipation issues that have continued off and on, and the fact that I am still on antibiotics for lyme treatment and was reading that for lyme patients yogurt doesn't provide enough probiotic. Sherry
  18. I did much better today with the nausea...I took the Enula away from everythng else; usually take it with the gemmobase and then eat not long afterward.
  19. I'm experimenting today with a raw veggie smoothie in the mornings like I used to do. It's the first raw I have tried since starting SCD. I want to see what symptoms I have and what it does to the constipation and bloating issue. Also I think I am not getting enough probiotic in the yogurt alone. Need to figure out what to do about that. Sherry
  20. Update for me: I am still struggling to some degree with constipation, and now mild nausea. Seems like I need to make some changes to my regimen but am not sure what. It may be that I am not tolerating the Zith and Enula together, which is what ART said, but it is controlling my symptoms better in terms of the neuro and pain. After reading I think perhaps...
  21. Well my weeks challenges have included a bad cold and over a week of repair for water leakage. Our bathroom has been a leakage problem for a long time, leaks into the apartment below. It has been "repaired" 4 times, so this time, the whole tile floor has been removed and all the pipes replaced from the kitchen (water source) through that bathroom. Tuesday...
  22. Yes, indeed! All are welcome here. Great! glad that is over and will look forward to hearing the results. :D I'll never eat the out of the box stuff again, LOL! I just made another batch of grape. The gelatin is good for us too, and we are only limited by the variety of 100% juice we can find! Sherry
  23. Elaine does mention intro in BTVC, suggests at least 1 day, and max 5 days. The purpose as I understand it is to begin with easily digested foods when the system is very upset. Both diarrhea and constipation can be signs of the same problem, according to Elaine (may not be in the book, but posted in her email correspondence online at least). That said...
  24. You are welcome, Donna. I make mine from homemade grape juice. So glad that you are finally noticing improvement and I sure hope there is no setback after the CT prep. Everyone, I've been having a rough week. Andrea knows a bit about it--I'll post more later if I can. b Sherry
  25. Farmer's cheese is supposed to be the same as dry curd cottage cheese.
