  1. I hope you can help. We will be staying in a hotel near the Washington DC Maryland area next Thursday and Friday. So we will probably need to find a place to eat dinner for Thursday night and a late breakfast or early lunch on Friday. I might book a room with a kitchenette, but until we make the reservations, I am not sure where we will eat. BTW...
  2. Hi Janine, I can certainly relate to your valiant efforts that end in tears. I won't go into the many contamination stories that have surfaced even when the staff have assured me that the food is gluten-free. Yes, it is really very frustrating and socially isolating. Now with that said, I think the food card is a great idea. I have found that only...

    ARCHIVED Wanted

Hi Libbyk, We love both of the Indian restaurants especially because they make most of their food withour wheat! Of course we do not eat the NAAN and the Rotis. But their pakoras are made with chickpea flour and are yummy. I do ask if the oil is fresh and not used for frying wheat products. We eat most of their menu choices and love it!
  4. O here too! I do follow the blood type diet with about 75% accuracy. I found a strong correlation between my dietary restrictions, health issues and the blood type theory. HHMMM... I do find that being this blood type, along with having a gluten/casein sensitivity makes life more challenging than for other blood types. Are there any other O's...
  5. Hello, Social events have been a bit challenging to say the least. Do you find that you are now avoiding eating out with friends, co-workers and sometimes family members because of gluten contamination?! We are. Let's chat and if we find that we live in driving distance to each other., perhaps we can form our own social group. We are a married couple...
  6. Hi, I just made a delicious chocolate birthday cake yesterday. I used The Gluten-Free Pantry's mix by Danielle. Perhaps the yellow cake mix with fresh strawberry extract would work and then put fresh strawberries on top of the cake for decorations. Either way, I am sure she will enjoy the strawberry flavor!!!
  7. Hi, I want to make a cream cheese cake frosting this weekend. Is there concern about gluten in cream cheese too? If so, do you know which ones are gluten-free? Thanks!!

    ARCHIVED Integrative Medicine

Hi, I have found a few names of doctors that use integrative medicine as an approach to celiac disease and/or thyroid and other medical conditions. I do not know any of these doctors personally. Please let me know how you make out if you choose any of these doctors. Dr. Ronald Hoffman-NYC-initial consult $435.00 Dr. Raphael Kellman-NYC Dr. Bruce...
  9. Hi Lisa922, I was just read some of your old threads. How are you feeling? Did the gastroenterologist test you for any nutritional deficiencies? BTW, I use natural progesterone cream and can't live without it! My endocrinologist isn't non-supportive of the cream but neither is she looking to promote its use.
  10. ;)I am still unclear about the link between gluten sensitivity and nutritional deficiencies. Is it still necessary to take certain nutritional supplements even when on a gluten-free diet? Even when the stool is "normal?" Thanks for your help.
  11. Recommended reading: "Prescription for Nutritional Healing," by James F. Balch, M.D. and Phyllis A. Balch, C.N.C. I agree with eating foods that encourage healthy brain function. Potatoes are high in starch which for some, can encourage increased blood sugar levels and candida growth. The above mentioned book recommends calcium and magnesium...
  12. Hi, I can relate to your feelings and the words shared by tarnalberry really seemed to bring the emotions from the gluten-free lifestyle all together. It was also true for me, the anger and the basis for a lot of my feelings. I had a long grieving process coupled with poor health in my early teen years. It was a culmination of all the hope to...
  13. Hi, I am gluten sensitive and I have been instructed to not touch wheat products. Although it will not affect my intestinal lining, it will compromise my immune system. I want my health to be as optimal as I can make it. I love Pamela's cookies. I especially love the peanut butter and the chocolate chip. Enjoy
  14. Sorry, it is: www.elsonhaas.com
  15. Hi, I saw the website www.elsonhass.com and I am very interested in obtaining a phone consultation with one of their doctors IF this is a legitimate facility. Does anyone have any information or experience with the medical staff??? Their address is: The Preventive Medical Center of Marin 25 Mitchell Blvd. Suite 8 San Rafael, CA. 95903 THANKS...
  16. Hi, We are going away to Atlantic City this summer. We hope to find several gluten-free dining choices. If you have had success with any of their eating establishments, I would live to know. Atlantic City here we come!
  17. Hi, Has anyone heard of or tried Anne Marie's sunflower snack? It has a picture of a little girl wearing a sunflower hat on the top of the bag. They are spiral shaped snack chips. It is sold in our local supermarket. It is peanut-free and made with corn, sunflower oil, sugar and rice oil. They list a web address but I haven't seen the site as...

    ARCHIVED Hashimoto's

Hi, I too am Hypothroid with Hashimoto's. My thyroid is regulated with two thyroid medications, at this time. I also have adrenal insufficiency. I am gluten-free since December of 2002. The endocrinologist did reduce one of my thyroid medications from 15 mcg to 7.5 mcg. within the last year. I was happy. What has your experience been with...
  19. Jessica, Thanks for the reply. I realized afterwards that it was probably a month ago that you were feeling ill. It must be such a relief to feel better. It seems amazing to hear that it took two antibiotics to get rid of the infection. Typically, do you keep yourself well hydrated? Do you take a daily high potency calcium with vitamin D? ...
  20. Jessica, Venting is fine, and you need to keep your strength up. I agree with taking acidophilus however not until the antibiotics are finished since it would be counter productive while taking antibiotics. I take them three times a day when I anticipate antibiotics. Ironically, I just had a CBC from my internist and he asked If I ever had kidney...
  21. Hi, Soon, we plan on making reservations for the New Jersey beach. However, now we need to choose our location more carefully. Obviously it must have several gluten-free dining choices. We want a clean beach with long beach hours and a low beach fee. We hope to find a beach that has offers several activities and entertainment. Your support is greatly...

  25. Hi, I am not officially diagnosed with hypoglycemia but I sure possess a lot of the symptoms. I find that eating a very small amount of carbs helps. I make sure that I also eat a lot of veggies and protein with my carbs. I never have the symptoms in the early morning but usually in the afternoon and evening.
