  1. To see if your having issues with the wax try peeling the apples. The advice to look for a nut butter without soy is also a good one. The soy oil will be clearly labeled on the jar.
  2. At times celiac disease or gluten intolerance can attack the brain before it attacks the gut full force. I had neuro and skin problems for years before my GI issues became more than a 'gee I must have a stomach bug or maybe I have lactose intolerance' sort of thing. You may want to do a good strict trial of the gluten free diet for at least a couple of months...
  3. They are really beautiful. They must be a fairly rare breed, I didn't think there was a breed I hadn't heard of. Learned something today.
  4. While the greek yogurt is low in lactose it would have casien which is the protein in milk. You might want to try dropping it for a week or two and see if things improve. Just on the off chance that the glutening triggered a casien intolerance.
  5. You mention you don't do dairy, what are you using as a replacement? If it is Rice Dream you may be reacting to the low level of gluten in that. If you use a soy milk you may have developed an intolerance to soy. It can take a while for us to heal from a glutening also so it may be that it just isn't out of your system yet.
  6. Just had to say love the ears on that kitty! I have never seen cat ears so large, he reminds me of the Flying Nun. Keep a close hold on him on windy days!
  7. Yea as others have mentioned the endo is really a pretty easy procedure with no aftereffects for most. You noted the doctor said something about high false postive rates for the celiac panel. Hopefully you meant to write false negative as false positives are very, very rare. It does sound like you have a good doctor who recognizes that the endos can have...
  8. If you are asking if the whole family could be celiac the answer is yes. Your blood sugar issues may resolve after you have been on the diet for a while. Have you had A1C testing done? I am not an expert but 160 doesn't sound like a real high reading after a meal. Ask your doctor about it. Getting some good protein and fats at each meal may help stabilize...
  9. That reminded me Starkist tuna in the gold can that says 'low sodium' 'in water' is soy and broth free. I had a hard time finding tuna that was as most either have soy in the 'broth' or soy oil.
  10. CC is cross contamination from wheat being used in the same plant or on the same lines. Flour dust stays suspending in the air for quite a while and can contaminate stuff that would otherwise be gluten free. CC is also a problem in our own kitchens, that is why we need a new toaster for gluten-free breads, to replace colanders and cutting boards and scratched...
  11. Hi!

I have been researching for months.Every time I googled my strange symptoms--a post would come up and your responses would be there! You have so many of the same symptoms as I have! You may not realize it, but you give me great hope and I am crying as I write this because I have been sick for so long and I am both exhausted yet encouraged because of what you have shared. Th...

  12. I just use tape or wet a sponge to wet the envelope, I always have even before my gluten free days. It may not be a gluten issue but I don't like putting stuff that isn't food in my mouth if I can help it.
  13. Soy on broccoli!!! Perhaps sauted with a butter replacement? You may want to ask if they can give you just plain broccoli or whatever veg steamed with no seasoning the next time. I am also soy and gluten free. For bread I do Udi's or Grainless Baker. Kinnickinnik makes great premade pizza shells for when you are craving pizza. I always keep some on hand...
  14. Yea I had a stray kitten that I took in that liked doing that also. I tried to get him out of the sink by turning on the water and it backfired. I couldn't do a load of dishes without scooping him out countless times. He also was really good at opening cupboard doors and would then get in and toss everything out. He went to live with someone else who had...
  15. You might also want to get a celiac panel run. It is possible you are getting cross contamination somewhere and that may let you know if your still making antibodies. You may have an additonal intolerance. Soy and dairy being the most common. You may want to eliminate them and see if that makes a difference. Are you eating mostly whole unprocessed foods...
  16. Just be aware that Frito Lay doesn't list CC issues on their packages. They do however have this included on their website along with the items it pertains to: "Please note however, some of the products listed below may be manufactured on the same lines as products that contain gluten. Although our lines are washed between batches, Frito-Lay has not...
  17. It can take a while to heal and the fact the nausea is getting better is a good sign. False negatives are not uncommon so go with how you feel after a couple months on the diet strictly. Hopefully you are supplementing with good gluten free vitamins to help the deficiencies. It is a good idea to avoid dairy and soy for a bit until you are well healed and...
  18. Thanks for letting us know you did react to it. You may have saved some of us who would have been tempted to try from the pain.
  19. Thanks for letting us know in the coping thread that you did react to it. I hope your feeling better soon. Items like this are why I really hate to see a gluten free 'level' set. I would much rather see gluten ingredients in any amout listed on a label and possible cross contamination issues required to be listed also. Go ahead and put 'it tests under...
  20. Your low IGA will cause false negatives on the blood tests. Did your doctor run the IGG? After all your tests are done give the diet a good strict try for a couple of months.
  21. I'm sorry but your doctor is flat out wrong about stress causing a positive blood tests. Stress does not cause your body to make antibodies. Celiac symptoms can be sporatic at first and the relief you were getting was from being on the diet. Chances are good that reintroducing gluten is going to flare those symptoms again.
  22. Thanks for letting us know it is made with barley. I will stick with Redbridge or Woodchuck. I hope your still feeling no ill effects.
  23. Thanks. I will give that a try tommorrow when I am a bit more relaxed. On day four with 2 cigs a day working down to none Sunday. Beginning to think it would have been easier to go from my 4 a day to none. Patience is not something I have a lot of right now. Chocolate and Skittles are a different story. Chocolate give me more chocolate!!!
  24. Well I got something up there at least but not any of the ones I wanted. I'll keep trying to get the one I wanted but at least the rose is pretty.
