  1. I am someone who also strongly believes that it is best to avoid gluten in personal care products. I do not live in fear of touching doorknobs, shaking hands or kissing someone on the cheek. My life is far from sad and my restictions come only from the damage done to my body by years of misdiagnosis. If you choose to use gluten personal care products that...
  2. What a fasinating conversation. I have wondered if the genetic predispositons for gluten intolerance and autism are somehow triggered by the bodies response to the vaccines in some children? We know that gluten intolerance usually has a trigger. What if the stress of the multiple vaccines on these childrens systems is enough to trigger both. Please...
  3. This is just my opinion, I am not a medical professional but I would not add gluten back in at this point. You have seen a definate resolution of your symptoms and I would give yourself a bit longer. In a couple of months if you still have doubt then challenge with something like cream of wheat 3 times a day for a week, or until you react. I think your...
  4. How strictly had you followed the diet before you stopped and started eating gluten again? If you were strict did you get any relief from the diet at all ? It can take some time to redamage the small intestine badly enough for damage to be easy to find. It can be patchy and multiple biopsies have to done as the damage is not always visable to the 'naked...
  5. When my allergist put me through the elimination diet he told me to eat the food 3 times a day for a week, unless a reaction happened sooner. That said spelt is wheat and should not be eaten by someone who is gluten intolerant or celiac. Where did you hear it was okay for us to eat?
  6. Yea, gluten. The biopsies can tell you conclusively that you do have celiac but they can not tell you for sure and for certain that you don't. The wrong area may have been biopsied, damage can be patchy. There are also changes that are seen before the villi are totally destroyed that some doctors don't recognize and some doctors will not diagnose until...
  7. Happy Anniversary!!!!!!
  8. Vent away all you need to. This is a really hard adjustment to make and even most of us 'old timers' have our bad days. It isn't easy and it is even harder when we are doing all we can and we still don't feel good. Then we get hit with other issues like your candida it can get really defeating at times. Hang in there though it will be worth in the long...
  9. Look at anything you might have changed in the last week. Did you get a script filled? If it was generic the binders may have changed. Have you eaten out? You may have been CC'd. Are you eating stuff that is produced on shared lines? You might have gotten a 'bad' batch. Are you in a relationship with a gluten eater? Could they have just finished a...
  10. When you check those lip balms don't ask if they are gluten free as what the Vit E is derived from. Many companies consider Vit E derived from wheat germ oil to be gluten free but it is not. I have not found many lip balms that I can use, but as with lotions and that sort of thing I found after a while I no longer really needed them. For me using a lip...
  11. Do you have other previous testing levels for B12 to compare it to? If your levels are slowly dropping your body may have stopped being able to use this a while ago as it takes a long time for the blood levels to drop even when we stop utilizing the B12. I would make sure that the B12 you are adding is sublingual. That way it will for sure get into your...
  12. The skin prick test is for true allergy reactions. It will not pick up intolerances which is what celiac is. Have you asked your doctor for a full celiac panel with total IGA included? If you are gluten light that would cause a false negative so you need to be on a full gluten diet before the panel is run. If you have been gluten light you might want...
  13. In other words it will be sold as an unregulated 'supplement', if I am reading this correctly? Thank you for pointing this out. It is a very important thing for us to be aware of.
  14. I get the neuro effects within a couple of hours along with stomach pain, gurgling and gas. Within 24 hours I will have joint and muscle pain that will usually last at least 2 two weeks. The D that hits doesn't hit until about 3 days later and is usually gone within a few hours. Usually within the same 3 day period my hair will start to drop and that also...
  15. You mention eating gluten for a week before the tests. How long have you been gluten free or gluten light? It can take time for the antibodies to build back up after you have been gluten free. How did your body react when you added gluten back in? Have you had your total IGA done? If you are naturally IGA defiecient that can cause a false negative. Also...
  16. I can only speak for myself and that is what I am doing here in response to the statement that I bolded. I have very good reason to be a bit jaded with 'modern' medicine, it's tests and treatments. As a seronegative celiac who was almost dead before a doctor suggested trying the diet, as a arthritis patient who was given drug after ineffective drug only...
  17. Please do get checked for anemia, not just for iron but also for B12. I had surgery years ago for carpel tunnel that turned out to actually be parathesias caused by B12 and nerve damage from celiac. Make sure you let your doctor know if you take a vitamin with folate as that can mask a B12 defieciency. Or you can just add a sublingual B12 to your diet...
  18. Medical benefits are hardly limited here, testing and knowledge of celiac yes but medical benefits not at all. I don't know where you are from but the US may be pharmacopic but we hardly lack for medical care. As to the assumption that no one here has any medical education or a scientific background, well you might be surprised. This is your first...
  19. Country Life makes good certified gluten free vitamins. If you tell us what brand you are currently using someone might know for sure if they are safe.
  20. That may be because the Diabetic educator actually told them to do it. When I was diagnosed I was handed a script and told I could eat just like I was eating just use artificial sugar and take the pill. When I asked what dietary changes I could make she just repeated I didn't need to make any, just take the pill. I was also told I needed to only check...
  21. If it is already done I would not worry about it, unless you put the glue side up. If it is making you feel anxious you could just cover it with vinyl shelf lining paper. If you didn't glue it down then if you feel better just replace it with plain paper or shelf liners. The main hazard is when applying the products or when sanding.
  22. Welcome to the group. It does take some time to heal and to learn your way around the gluten free lifestyle. I would suggest asking your doctor to check your levels for iron, ferritin, B12, folate, calcium and vitamin D at the minimum. Are you already supplementing? If you are make sure the doctor knows as this can affect the tests. The best example...
  23. The NIH has a household products database that can give you some information of the ingredients in a lot of products. My computer crashed a while ago so I don't have the link any longer but will see if I can find it later today. Some of the most common items to find gluten ingredients are wall paper that is prepasted, wall paper paste, wood glue, white...
  24. The areas in the small intestine that gets damaged by celiac are the same areas that our body needs to absorb and utilize B12. So a B12 deficiency is not uncommon with celiacs. The supplements in pill form that you swallow are not able to be used by the body until we heal. For that reason we need to use sublingual forms to get this vitamin. B12 can cross...
