  1. It will take some getting used to but you have found a great place for info and support. Welcome to the family. Almost everyone has some ups and downs and some of us who experience the neurotoxic effects can even go through a withdrawl. Hang in there and you may find you feel better than you ever remember soon. Make sure to encourage everyone in your...
  2. I picked up a Calcium-Magnesium supplement this morning. I take a multi that is pretty high in most everything but I also take a D3 and a biotin supplement. We'll see if the additional Cal-Mag supplements help a bit. I will up my daily water intake. I never really get hungrey or thirsty and I may be consuming less than I should. If Things don't improve...
  3. Yes that is possible especially since you had been gluten free for a while and it takes a while for the antibodies to build back up in the blood. You say you had a good response to the diet. IMHO that should be a good reason to do it. You don't need a doctors permission.
  4. Thanks for letting us know.
  5. Thanks for the reply. I knew about the magniesium and thought I was taking a supplement that had it. Turns out the amount is 1% of the daily value so I think I'll pick up a supplement as well as googling high mag foods. Do you know if I should supplement that above the daily value for a while? Thanks for the link, these are spasms more than cramps by their...
  6. I started having symptoms at age 4 but wasn't diagnosed until I was 46. I was severely ill for the last 15 years and saw hordes of doctors. Oh how I wish I could have been diagnosed sooner, then they might have at least looked for it in my children. My son could have been a poster child for celiac but they never even tested him until after I was diagnosed...
  7. Your actually in the best place to find these products right here. Arm and Hammer makes a good detergent, I get the free and clear. Until my DH cleared I needed to be careful about detergents but I haven't had too much of an issue for the last couple of years. Even then I wouldn't get sick just really itchy. Suave and Dove will label gluten ingredients...
  8. Return it to Costco or donate it. This would make me pretty angry to. Yoplait makes gluten free yogurt although it does have high fructose corn syrup. Thanks for posting the warning for others.
  9. I have been having episodes lately where my second and third toes will draw up like they are cramping. It is uncomfortable but not as painful as it looks like it would be. It tends to happen to my foot after I lay down at night. I have just been getting up and walking the foot off then yesterday it started to happen to the third and fourth fingers hand...
  10. I can't help with the lipitor question but I might be able to help with the pizza. Try the Gluten Free Pantry's French Bread Mix for the dough. They give the directions to make pizza dough on the back. I usually put it in the fridge for a bit to make it easier to spread and then oil the large spoon that I spread it with. It will make a deep dish pizza...
  11. The gluten free diet is a very healthy diet even for those who don't need to be gluten free. It will not cause problems. I do agree with the others that she should not abandon the diet for the reasons they have stated. One thing that wasn't mentioned was the withdrawl that some of us experience. It is not unusual to feel worse for a bit before you feel...
  12. Yes it could still be celiac. When they did the endo did they take any biopsies to evaluate for celiac? When you are done with all the testing you want to have done for celiac you should do a good strict trial of the diet. You don't have to be eating gluten for the colonoscopy as that will not show celiac anyway. I don't know when that colonoscopy is...
  13. You have been getting some great advice from all. One thing you can do if it looks like she won't let you or anyone else help or educate her and the child is suffering is to contact the child's doctor. While the doctor can not discuss her case with you directly that doesn't mean that you can't let him know your concerns. It will also be obvious to the...
  14. "My sister is one of the messiest, laziest people I know " Ya know people used to think that about me. I wasn't lazy I was just so exhausted from fighting the neuro effects of celiac that I had energy for just about nothing. Has your sister been tested for celiac? Celiac is genetic and all first degree relatives should be tested. Has she visited here...
  15. This sounds like one of the worst ideas for treating celiac that I have ever heard of. Please don't try it. If you have celiac it is genetic and those worms are not going to change your genes. Also celiacs have a hard time absorbing nutrients they get from their food until they are healed. The worms are going to make that even harder. The treatment is...
  16. I agree totally with this. I am a diagnosed blood test negative celiac, 30% of us do test negative on blood work. The only difference for me is that my D waits until usually the 3rd day after consumption. I will have tummy rumbles and at times stomach pain but the D and the worst of the cramps are delayed. The neuro features, depression, anxiety and insomnia...
  17. Not neccessarily. I had a real bad bout of salmonella a few years ago. I was still undiagnosed at the time and of course had D on a daily basis anyway so for a little bit I thought it was just my "ibs" becoming more severe. The thing was that antidiarheals always had helped with my daily D but when I had salmonella they were only effective for about an...
  18. Show him this from the NIH if he doesn't believe the NIH I would find another doctor. "Blood Tests People with celiac disease have higher than normal levels of certain autoantibodies
  19. A week is not long enough on a challenge to have the tests show positive if you have been gluten free for a bit. You would need to challenge for at least 3 months. A week is long enough to show a reaction though for many of us. Just not long enough for a blood test to show it. A strong reaction to the challenge is also diagnostic of your bodies not wanting...
  20. I am sooo jealous. That must have been a fantastic sight. My favorite flowers are the real 'smelly' ones. Lily of the Valley, strong scented roses (I hate that roses from a florist never smell pretty, what's the point) and of course Lilacs. I want spring to get here so badly.
  21. For those that like cheese puffs Pirate's Booty makes some really good ones. A much safer alternative to Lays and no funny chemicals incuded.
  22. In some of us arthritic symptoms can be present for quite a while before gut stuff seems to be affected. There is a good chance that her pain will resolve, I can't of course say for certain. I found it interesting when 5 years after I was diagnosed and in good remission from a great deal of issues when I had my genes tested my particular celiac gene...
  23. Many of us have problems with wheat grass. You might want to stop taking this for at least a couple of weeks. Your problems may well resolve.
  24. Thanks for the update. So good to hear that she is doing better.
  25. You might want to get the area next to the rash biopsied if you want to confirm that it is DH. There are other skin conditions that are also caused by a reaction to gluten but if you have a diagnosis of DH you have a diagnosis of celiac. Here is a link to the NIH's site about DH and it's diagnosis. Open Original Shared Link You could also while...
