  1. Also if your daughter is a child make sure that the herbs you give her are suitable for use in children. NOW is one brand that makes a lot of gluten free supplements and Country Life is another. Always read the label very carefully and when you have any doubt call the company.
  2. Have you talked to your neurologist about the vision issues or your GP? I really doubt you are going blind it sounds so much like visual migraines and you don't have to get a headache with them. I hate to say this but.....I had these for years, sometimes with the horrible headache and nausea and most times without and haven't had one since I became gluten...
  3. Hi Dylan I am glad everything went well. I also am concerned that you seem to think that this will be an 'instant' fix. There is an old saying 'don't put all your eggs in one basket' it applies aptly here. Perhaps the fillings are part of the picture but they are likley only a small piece of the puzzle. You need to make sure you see a medical professional...
  4. CCK is a hormone that causes the gallbladder to contract. The radionuclide was most likely the other med given. Open Original Shared Link ... In this test, called a CCK-HIDA scan, the HIDA scan is done as described above. After the gallbladder is visualized, the hormone cholecystokinin (CCK) is given to cause the gallbladder to contract. By using...
  5. Have you seen the actual blood test results? Many time a very low positive will be reported as a negative. That said there are some of us that no matter how ill will not show up in blood work. The NIH estimates that number to be close to 30%. My not showing positive on blood tests delayed my diagnosis by many years. Very painful years. Do be sure to...
  6. I agree you need to do something to remove your name and birthdate. Maybe instead of a link you could cut and paste without the personal info. One thing to keep in mind is that with celiac your immune system is in hyperdrive. Before my allegist put me on an elimination diet I showed postive to 98 of 99 substances tested for. After being gluten free a...

    ARCHIVED Flu

I hope you get over this soon. Please be sure to push liquids while you are still actively ill and watch out for dehydration. If you can't keep anything down or in you at all please do contact your doctor.
  8. Happy Anniversary. I am glad things are going well.
  9. I am going to add one more possibility into the mix, soy. I had kidney impact from the celiac and when I get soyed I bleed into my urine. I usually have microscopic blood but when soyed or glutened it goes from being unseen by the naked eye to pink pee. If he consumes very much soy it might be something you want to try to restrict also for a bit to see...

    ARCHIVED PCOS And Celiac

The connections between the female reproductive system and celiac are really poorly understood by doctors. There is a definate connection though and it has been noted in medical journals. Celiac can and does effect us. It can cause premature menopause, infertility and effect our ability to carry a baby to term when we do concieve. They don't know why...
  12. Your doctor will understand that you can't just rush home for the letter. Have you called the office to see if he will simply send you one? He has all your records on hand and the office may be willing to do this. You never know unless you ask.
  13. Dylan, The doctor will get you really numb before he does the procedure. Were you in a lot of pain after you have gotten other fillings? Having these done should not cause any more discomfort than that did. If you are concerned mention it to the dentist before you get the work done. Generally it is okay to take something like tylenol before the numbing...
  14. Did they mention to you or did you see on the films something called UBOs? These are bright white spots on the MRI that are similar to what they see with MS but in the wrong place. Were these what made the doctors think you might have MS? Here most doctors think they are nothing when in other countries they are recognized as being caused by celiac and...
  15. "A few days ago, I had another HIDA scan run (this is the test that sent me from a 4 on the pain scale to a constant 8/9)" I am so sorry this is happening. I would get back in touch with the doctor that did the scan. Did they inject anything or give you anything orally? The only guess, and it is a guess, is that you may have had an adverse reaction...
  16. The best thing you can do is to ask your dentist to call and find out if it is. Some companies will allow you to call yourself so you can get the name of the material and the company to find out. It is quite possible for the mold material to have gluten ingredients in the flavors and you don't really have to swallow it, all it has to do is come into contact...
  17. Dylan Have you read my signature? I was thought for a long time to have MS and underwent some really painful tests for it. I have been thought to be bipolar, if fact I was diagnosed with a rare epilepsy of the subilleal region of my brain. I haven't had a seizure since a couple months into the diet. I have one family member who became frankly psychotic...
  18. Having a food allergy panel is not a bad idea, however it will NOT detect celiac because celiac disease and DH are autoimmune conditions. Celiac testing also needs to be done while a person is still on gluten. So make sure that any family members don't go gluten free until they have done all the testing you want.
  19. Have you asked your doctor to write that letter? I would. All this nasty cold really makes asthma hard to deal with. When my asthma was bad and it was really cold I used to take a puff right before I stepped out the door. You might want to call the doctors and ask it it is okay to do that. Hopefully you have lots of warm scaves to wrap around your face...
  20. Yes, and they will many times go into at least partial remission.
  21. Yes the bread you ate last night could be causing the deep depression that you are experiencing today. For some of us, myself included, this is a prominent feature of the 'being glutened' experience. Now that I have been gluten free for 6 years fortunately for me it now lifts quickly. It is also quite possible to test negative and still be either celiac...
  22. Gosh yes. It saved my life.
  23. It could be gluten related but it is really hard to say. Normally DH doesn't appear on the face but that doesn't mean it can't show up there. One thing I would do is go back to your derm and ask them to biopsy looking specifically for DH. They have to biopsy next to the lesion not the lesion itself. Here is a link to some info from the US National Institute...
  24. She may very well be celiac. The fact that I was negative repeatedly on blood panels but doctors never told me anything other than to be glad I didn't have 'sprue' delayed my diagnosis by oh so many painful years. While I was testing I was developing more than one other autoimmune mediated problem, all of which resolved on the diet once I was finally diagnosed...
  25. You should be proud of yourself. As I noticed from your other post below their response was as I expected.
