  1. A quick google search turned up an awful lot of stuff which I don't really have time to go through right now. I would advise you to enter pemphigus and celiac into a search engine and take a look at some of the articles, it appears they may very well be associated. Has she had a celiac panel or any other celiac testing?
  2. How are you feeling? Have most of your symptoms gone away? When they do then would be the time to challenge dairy by eating some 3 times a day for a week or until you react if you react sooner. If you are still having issues it really is best to wait but if you can't stand to do so then you could try some yogurt or a hard cheese like cheddar. Those are...
  3. "A month ago she went gluten free and is feeling so much better. Then her dr says....oh yes you had some areas in your small intestine back in February that could be indicative of celiac. Yet they never informed her of this." I am so sorry that this has happened to her, that doctor should be slapped upside the head, to put it mildly. Make sure she gets...
  4. Welcome to the board and the gluten free lifestyle. The easiest way to heal and to avoid gluten at the same time is to go with whole unprocessed foods. Fruits and veggies, rice, potatoes, fresh meats (unprocessed), nuts and nut butters, beans, all are gluten free in their natural state. If you are not used to cooking it can be a challenge at first but...
  5. Silver Floss is made very near to where I live and is the brand I always buy. I have never had any issues with it. An added benifit is that is has probiotic properties that can be really helpful to those that do not tolerate dairy products.
  6. Thanks for posting this and the link. I wasn't real hopeful when I went to it as most gravies that don't have gluten have soy but I can actually have 2 of them. I look forward to trying them out.
  7. I wouldn't use this or any other cleansing product. They can be dangerous for folks that have a leaky gut, which many of us have. The body will 'cleanse' itself if you just lay off the junk and give it good wholesome food and lots of water. These products are not only a waste of money but dangerous for many.
  8. Welcome to the boards. You found a great place for info and support. The gluten free lifestyle can take some getting used to but you should start healing and feel better soon. If you are still having GI issues it might be a good idea to drop dairy also for a while if you haven't already. Ask any questions you need to and be sure to check all your meds...
  9. A diagnosis of DH is a diagnosis of celiac.
  10. The last couple days I have accessed the board from my favorites, after doing an internet search for it. The forum buttons seem to be missing off the homepage, did they move and I just can't find them or are they missing for everyone?
  11. You do need an active lesion for them to be able to biopsy the area next to. The antibodies are found in the adjacent skin not the lesion itself. It would be unusual for DH to only appear on one side but not totally unheard of. Your description of the lesions does sound like DH, when they heal do they leave a purplish scar that takes a very long time to...
  12. I just noticed this on the home page here- "A gluten-free holiday dinner starts with a gluten-free turkey. Believe it or not some brands of turkey do contain additives that are not gluten-free
  13. Would you mind providing a link to where Enterolab's web site tells people to do the diet for two years before they start looking for conditions other than celiac or gluten intolerance if their symptoms don't improve?
  14. This is one of the best posts for newbies I have ever seen and it is sooooo very correct. The diet seems daunting but the trade offs for relief and remission of so many things make the effort so worth it. I didn't have this board when I was first diagnosed and didn't believe the doctor that diagnosed me when he said that so many of my other autoimmune...

    ARCHIVED Iodine

It can be hard to find a vitamin without iodine. Most do not have very much in them so I go with the one that has the least. The ones I take only have 6% of the daily value (from kelp) and I have had no issues with them now that I have healed fully. Before my DH went into remission I simply used seperate specific vitamins rather than a multi. I do avoid...
  16. I am glad you feel comfortable with your phone call, myself I prefer to get my answers from their actual regulations. As with anything the choice in how safe one wants to be is an individual choice. As with any food items the safest best is the least processed. A turkey that is just that turkey is the safest. If it has a broth or additive it should be...
  17. I have always wondered why those who don't like Enterolab argue so vehemently also. After all he does not diagnose anything, he doesn't tell anyone that the only issues they have are the antibody reaction that he finds and he doesn't tell anyone that that they shouldn't look for other issues if they do not heal after eliminating the substances that he pinpoints...
  18. Most likely the issue with the chicken broth was barley malt in the natural flavors. If chicken has a broth and it does not say specifically it is gluten free it is always best to call before consuming to check.
  19. Great!!! Have a great Thankgiving.
  20. Welcome Aga, we really can do fine with minimal grain in our diets. Some people eliminate it completely. Most celiacs can tolerate nongluten grains like rice, millet, quiona, buckwheat wild rice etc. As far as the need to have grains for brain function remember that we heavily fortify or grain foods in this country. That may be where the concern that someone...
  21. I think there are lots of us here, myself included. All we can do is try to look forward.
  22. Here it is: Open Original Shared Link Unfortunately we are still at risk from both barley malt used as a natural flavoring and unlike with FDA regulations, modified food starch does not have to be identified as a to source. When we see natual flavors or modified food starch added to meats we do need to check the safety for us. Hydrolized protein and...
  23. http://www.fsis.usda.gov/FactSheets/Additi...ducts/index.asp While grain added as grain or hydrolized proteins need to be identified not all potential gluten sources need to be on the label. As with many food items it is barley malt that is our biggest risk. Barley malt is considered a flavoring agent and would not have to be identified on the label...
  24. This frankly sounds dangerous to me. I agree with Momma Goose check with your doctor before you try this.
