  1. Cheri, thank you for the recipe! We're going to try it out asap. Been having a REALLY hard time with both of my boys. My older son's symptoms had improved, and now are coming back. My younger son's symptoms are getting worse, and he's pitching temper tantrums for Ritz crackers on a daily basis! I am frustrated, and really wishing I could get them...
  2. I have had severe problems with bulged and ruptured disks in my back over the past seven years, pinching the sciatic nerve. I know how excruciating the pain can be. I'm not a Dr, only a fellow sufferer, but here are my thoughts... It's too bad that Vicodin makes you sleep, but there are other options. Ultram is a strong, VERY effective analgesic. It is...
  3. Thank you SO MUCH for your replies! I specifically told myself before we started this, Don't introduce too many new things at once.... but then I think it happened anyway. I will keep the stuff around, and try to offer them again, slower this time! We live in a very rural area, in the foothills of the Blueridge Mountains. The closest health...
  4. Oh, I think that's a fanatstic idea!!! I wish someone would do it! A restaurant where you would have NO worries about cross contamination... And it would be best if they had a good selection of foods, not just fancy "yuppie-ish" ones. Like someone else said, artichoke hearts on pizza? Some people like it, I'm sure, but my kids would gag. Someplace that...
  5. Well, my 6-yr-old son has been gluten-free for a couple weeks now (or so I thought,) and I had not seen much improvement in his symptoms yet.... But then I was reading through some old posts last night and read that his Flintstones vitamins are not gluten-free! So I've been glutening him every night without realizing it. He also grabbed a Special K cereal...
  6. Cheese sticks, maybe? gluten-free pretzels or carrots dipped in peanut butter... Protein foods are more filling, right? Boiled eggs... yogurt or cottage cheese? (I like cottage cheese with salt and pepper on it. Wierd I guess, but very yummy.) Also pickles (All of Mt. Olive's products are gluten free now). Chocolate covered raisins. (Raisinettes...
  7. Walmart's brand, Great Value Soy Sauce is gluten-free. It is actually labeled gluten-free on the back. (And it's only about 88 cents a bottle.)
  8. Wow... it's amazing how much some of your children sound just like my son. It's kind of eerie to me. As Shayesmom suggested, I sat down with Lucas and talked with him about a gluten-free diet. Since my mom has Celiac, he has some experience with it, knows Grandma sometimes eats different foods, etc. There were a few frowns on his face (such as when...
  9. You rock for taking the time to post these recipes. I have a request. My mother misses her take-out Chinese fried rice really badly! I found some gluten-free soy sauce for her (Great Value, Wal-Mart's brand.) She doesn't like a lot of veggies, but the main thing is getting the seasoning right. She wants it to taste like take-out! lol. I don't blame her though...
  10. Thank you so much, for all your caring comments and suggestions. It means a lot to me. Lonewolf, I'll check out Enterolab; $99 is do-able. Shan, you really hit on it when you said he must feel bad when he has these accidents. This has been going on for 3 1/2 years now, and it's gotten to the point where when it happens, he hides it for as long as he possibly...
  11. The brain fog you mentioned is a symptom my mother gets when she is glutened. She was diagnosed Celiac last December. There are other symptoms she has too, but yeah, she can't think clearly, memory doesn't work right, she drops things and runs into things. She hates it, finds it extremely frustrating. I feel so badly for you, having to deal with all of...
  12. Hi. I'm new here and a little nervous about posting. I have 2 sons, ages 4 and 6. It's my 6 yr old that I'm primarily concerned about right now. When he was born, he immediately became jaundiced, and his Dr suggested putting him on formula because my milk was taking forever to come in. (I let them do this, and ended up pumping for a couple weeks to give...
