Gwenny's Achievements

  1. I went to Cape Cod in Massachusetts to get married yesterday. The wedding was very small and was held on the beach in Dennis. Because I hadn't searched for many gluten-free restaurants beforehand, we went to BZ's afterwards for pizza. They get their gluten-free pizza crusts from Good Ju Ju Bakery. The waitress was very knowledgeable about the whole gluten...
  2. I've eaten at the Outback restaurants twice here in Mass. and haven't gotten sick at all. I do have to say that the steaks I make at home taste better. I went to Outback in Mechanicsville, VA when I visited family before Christmas and got horribly sick. The only thing different was that they put seasonings on the steak. The previous restaurants in MA...
  3. I had my birthday dinner last night at the Revere, MA Uno's and did not get sick. The cheese is very yummy, the crust is thin and has a good flavor and the outside crust is a bit crunchy. The sauce is pretty good, almost close to the homemade marinara I put on my gluten-free pizza at home. I just use more garlic and herbs. The salad at the Plymouth...
  4. I ate at the Uno's in Plymouth on 12/27/08 and did not get sick. I had a side salad and the pepperoni pizza and loved my meal! The pizza is as big as a huge dinner plate and I was quite full afterwards. The servers found the menu immediately and knew about celiac disease and gluten-free food! I'm very impressed!
  5. I have been getting DF rash flare ups for a few months and tummy issues here and there (ever since I started this job). I've been bad and have snacked on Cheetos bought in the vending machine since I started working here (at least twice a week). I quit the Cheetos for two weeks, the rash got better and my tummy behaved more. I ate Cheetos this morning...
  6. I emailed them a couple of months ago and got a vague reply. They responded with a list of the ingredients, but no actual answer to advise if any of them are gluten in disguise.
  7. I have PCOS and am addicted to carbs as well. The addiction to carbs was horrible a year and a half ago, but it's getting better. It's a mental thing and I'm teaching myself to view the foods as if they were cauliflower, which I despise. bleh!!
  8. Dairy that isn't low fat isn't going to help. Since I started eating low fat and cutting down on the dairy intake has really helped the scale for me. I'm doing weight watchers and using the flex point system. Those gluten free goodies suck when it comes to points, they aren't so good for you. I found that I was eating what I thought were light meals, but...
  9. I'm totally fine with corn, thank goodness. I find that darn warning under the flaps of packages a lot, so now I'm looking there right after the ingredients list!
  10. The Stop & Shop in Malden, just outside of Boston has a decent gluten free selection. Getting to Whole Foods is a pain since I moved outside of the city, but now shopping is less expensive. I go to Wild Oats once a month or so to buy Chebe bread and a few other goodies. For normal shopping, I can still get my Tinkyada pasta and a bunch of fresh produce...
  11. The same stuff happened with me until a year ago, when I ran across an ad on a website and then everything made sense. Going gluten free has changed my moods, gotten rid of most of the depression, made the neuropathy symptoms lessen, etc. The depression comes back if I get glutened, plus a bunch of other things. I've had this for a long time because...
  12. Soyjoy is manufactured on equipment that also processes wheat and nuts. bad soyjoy, bad bad bad!!!
  13. They claim to be Gluten Free on the label and on their site. HOWEVER: They also print an additional message that states: Manufactured On Equipment That Also Produces Tree Nuts and Wheat. This tiny message is printed under the seam of the packaging, where I did not see it until after I had consumed the snack. Yes, I got a nice glutening and it...
  14. I've been buying the frozen breadsticks from Wild Oats and LOVE them! I am doing Weight Watchers, so I don't overdo the breadsticks or have them too often, but when I do, it's a nice treat. I will have to try out the recipes posted here, they sound pretty good and variety in my meals is something I enjoy. My non-celiac boyfriend loves the Chebe...
