  1. I only attract mosquitoes when my hubby isn't around. They like him best! Occasionally, I do get bitten and yes they itch. I believe everyone gets somewhat itchy. However, some people do get allergic reactions. I don't. neesee
  2. I'm o+ and biopsy diagnosed. neesee
  3. I had a permeability test when I was diagnosed. They put some chemicials in a clear liquid and had me drink them. Then they collected my urine for 24 hrs. Nothing to it! However, I never did learn the results, they just waited for the biopsy results and told me I had sprue. I had been in the hospital for a good 2 weeks by then. I was so sick! Every moring...
  4. Yes, you certainly can get addison's from renal tuberculosis. My dad had renal tb when I was a child. It's something I will never forget. He almost died from it. His drs wondered if he grew up on a farm because you get this form of tb from drinking unpasturized milk. His mom's family were farmers from Iowa. He did spend one summer on his aunts hog farm in...
  5. Bravie, You aren't the only one with problems! My son has no health insurance either. He has a posterior fossa subarachnoid brain cyst, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, hashimoto's thyroiditis , elevated liver enzymes, and he has passed 6 kidney stones. He does have a local county plan that pays for office calls and generic Rx. That's all! He can't go to the...
  6. Bravie, Maybe your diagnosis isn't correct. How were you diagnosed? Did you have a biopsy? If it was blood tests, which one was positive? EMA and tTg are the most specific. Anyhow,if I were you, I would check back in with my Dr. Maybe he missed something neesee
  7. Your baby will be just fine! neesee
  8. Unless you are asian with DQ4 everyone has gluten sensitive genes according to Enterlolab. However, you don't have the genes for celiac. neesee
  9. Wow! If you have addison's, your potassium levels must be dangerously high. I hope the drs are addressing that issue as well. How is your blood pressure? Not too low I hope. neesee
  10. I also had a fasting glucose of 99 so I was heading for probably type 1 diabetes since I had exercised and was thin and I am in my 50's I'm not so sure about that! Type 1 hits like gangbusters, usually with heavy flu type symptoms. Type 2 sneaks up on you with a rise in blood pressure and cholesterol and slowly rising blood sugar. Usually, there is...
  11. Type 2 diabetes has no connection to celiac. I don't believe high blood pressure is connected either. I've been gluten free for 20 yrs, and on blood pressure meds for 10 yrs. It is type 1 that has the connection. My mom had that. Dad was type 2. He lost a lot of weight and gained excellent control of his blood sugar that way. neesee
  12. It's good you caught his celiac earlier rather than later. I think it's difficult for most people to pinpoint a trigger. I'm not sure at what point I developed celiac either. I do remember having a severe gastroenteritis when I was 19. My mom had it at the same time. It was the worst we had ever had. It took several days to get better. Mom never did. In...
  13. Colleen , What do you suppose was your son's trigger? neesee
  14. I was biopsy diagnosed Jan. 1988. I've been gluten-free ever since. My balance gets worse every day. Stairs are starting to make me extremely anxious. I won't go near them until I steady myself and grab the handrail. Dh laughs at me when I walk down the hallway, because first I hit one wall and then the opposite. He call me bing bong. I'm not amused. As...
  15. Hi Jay...It sounds like you might be describing the arachnoid membrane. I don't know if there is a connection between celiac and something like that or not. I do know that my son has a posterior fossa subarachnoid cyst. It had to be shunted in 2001. I am a biopsy diagnosed celiac. By the way, you are only 1 year older than him and have the same name.
  16. Hi....I'm from the Flint area. I lived in Durand for 11 years when I was young and stupid. We got a good deal on a house back then. I about died of boredom in Shiawassee co. It was good to move back home. I get most of my gluten-free goodies at Meijer's Kroger's and Dale's Health foods. There are no gluten-free restaurants close to me.
  17. Actually, vitamin C is water soluble along with B vitamins. Vitamins A,D,E and K are the fat soluble vitamins.
  18. When my dh didn't have his blood sugar under control, he was freezing. Especially after he ate his meals. I'm quite sure it's a diabetic problem. It took a fair amount of time before that improved. He's not the one with celiac, I am. He is a type II daibetic.
